Summer Salad with chicken and Mushroom Burger with fries.

We had a nice lunch at the Sister's Cafe while passing through Pendleton recently. It is a casual little spot with plenty of seating, both inside and outside. They also have a full service espresso/coffee area, which is nice. Food was good, service was good and prices were fairly average. The Summer Salad was very fresh and yummy! Would definitely stop in again when in the area.

We stopped here on our drive to Boise. I didn't expect the saloon-type atmosphere, but I really liked it! Walk up and order, lots of variety. Husband and I got the Baja bowl because it was healthy. Daughter got the veggie sandwich. We also ordered fried pickles, a draw for us and on the sandwich board on the way in. After ordering them, a server came to the table to tell us they were off the menu. She replaced them with onion rings. The food was decent, but nothing special. Plenty of options and lots of seating.

On our three day adventure to Pendleton, Oregon, this was by far the best place we ate a meal at. We sat down at a table and made our selections from their menu. We then ordered at the counter / cash register area at the back of the restaurant, where a full bar is located. We were provided with a number on a holder to place on our table, for the server to bring our food to us. The lady who took our order, who turned out to be an owner, was very friendly. I ordered the turkey and bacon panini, while the wife ordered the brisket sandwich. Both came with fries. Mine came with potato salad and hers came with coleslaw. I ordered a side of onion rings, too. Both sandwiches were of decent size and they tasted great! The fries were crispy, but not burnt. Our little sides were also good. As for the onion rings they were good in my eyes, but great in my wife's eyes. We really enjoyed our food, the service, and the atmosphere here. When it's time to return to Pendleton this place will be on our list to go to again. They get the 5 star blessing for an eatery in this town.

Great spot with some outdoor seating, good beers, good service (even at a table) and the steak salad was on point!

Food was just not good at all and expensive. They tacked on $23 gratuity, for 2 adults and 4 kids. Sad

The bar is long, with pictures of all the Pendleton Round-Up lining one wall. The place is a fascinating time capsule. Way in the back, beyond the bar and the pool table, a very small dining room with counter service and several humble booths are tucked away next to the kitchen. It's old, and proud of it. I've only eaten there twice; I once had a great breakfast there many years ago with my son. The portions were generous, the service was excellent, and as American style breakfasts go, it was about as good as they get. It's not "inspired food." It's the standard stuff, and there's something comforting about that. It's Americana at it's best. The second time was my birthday, and again, I was there with my son. It was evening. When we got there, we were the only ones occupying the cafe. It looked exactly as it had 20-plus years ago. My son ordered a hamburger and fries. Again, no trendy toppings or fuss, just very fresh, very well prepared hearty fare...exactly what we were looking for. I had their "famous" fried chicken. it was without hesitation, some of the best I'd ever tasted. It came with jo-jos, a salad, and garlic bread. It was all excellent, and almost too much food. If you enjoy old school dining in a small town cafe, it's going to be hard to beat the Rainbow Cafe and Bar.

We tried to go to breakfast this morning at 10:18 am and were told they were not serving breakfast and we could wait until 11 for lunch. This is not the first time we have struggled with wait times. First, I understand you have to serve food and have it available at a drinking establishment. Secondly, why are you turning prospective patrons that want to eat and drink. We used to go there every Sunday as a family, it was a meeting place for friends and family. The last two times we ate there it was 1 1/2 or 2 hours before we got fed. This is heartbreaking. It's our 'Cheers'. Please do better!
