What a welcoming downtown gem. We ended up eating there TWICE in the same day when we were there for business -- we had lunch outside and dinner inside. Both experiences were extremely positive. Staff and friendly and their system is locked down! Order inside and they bring it to your table. They offer a good variety of food, making it easy to have very different meals each time you go. Very chill place. They have plenty of seating. You order at the counter get a number and sit down. I got the Reuben sandwich with fresh fruit on the side. The sandwich was excellent. The bread was perfectly toasted and the meat was flavorful and wasn't too thin or too thick. The fruit was very fresh! My buddy got the beast sandwich and says it was very good as well. We have been here for dinner at least a half dozen times. Always very good. Tonight, they got busy just after our order was placed. My Rueben sandwich came and was eaten before my husband's pizza showed up. I went up to the counter and asked about it, it was still going to be another 10 minutes. We finally asked for it to go. When it finally arrived, with no apology, I went to the counter and explained my disappointment. That fact that the food was so late and I had tipped, on service when paying, again there was "Sorry we got busy just after your sandwich order went in" can we refund your tip and as it was 20% I said yes please. I think the appropriate call would have been to offer a discount or something when the pizza finally arrived. I shouldn't have had to ask! read more

We started with a Caesar salad. Nothing more than shaved parm cheese and croutons on chopped romaine lettuce. The showpiece dressing was weak on substance and fell short on flavor. But the accompanying hunk of bread was hot out of the oven. The beer selection was small but tapped cold. Sticky Hands was a solidly good local imperial ipa. My son opted for the personal size Austin City Limits pie. Cheesy with chicken, onions and bbq sauce It was very good The host suggested the Fowl Play pizza, Alfredo sauce & cheese with vegetables and chicken. This was a great pizza place. Actually great wine, tapas, pizza and beer. I'd call this a craftsman niche shop in the middle of a fairly basic meat-and-potatoes tow, so it was a welcome surprise. Especially when really what you wanted more than anything was good pizza because you'd just run a marathon. We enjoyed sitting outside on the dog friendly patio. We hadn't travelled with our dog, but we were able to flirt and make friends with an adorable lab puppy which we totally count as a bonus to the restaurant. We met my husband's brother and his wife here for dinner; first time eating here since 201 when we moved away. The restaurant has expanded to the adjacent building, giving ample room for customers, but still has a delightful laid back ambiance. The medium sized Greek Salad with smoked salmon was plenty for two, especially since it came with a crusty baguette. We also ordered the Cheese Board, not knowing how large the salad was, so we took it to go. The Cheese Board is amazing! There were 5 generous portions of delicious cheese, along with pickled vegetables and another crusty baguette. We will definitely revisit next visit to Pendleton. read more

It's been years since I last went to Great Pacific, but I went out to lunch here with my husband yesterday & was pleasantly surprised! We asked if they offered nondairy cheese for their pizza, and they said said that they didn't, but recommended the meatless lovers pizza with no cheese, so we went with that & a house salad. I gave up my career in Palo Alto and returned to Pendleton to care for my mother in a nursing home and her sister with Alzheimer's. I moved to Pendleton after the death of my father when I was 16 and attended Pendleton High School my senior year. Main St. was the hub of commercial activity when I first moved there. That was before Walmart located in Pendleton and many family run businesses had to close. My favorite hang out was the GP for its coffee, incredible food, and free music concerts weekly in a separate large room with a stage. Their service is impeccable and the employees are friendly. I heartedly recommend the Great Pacific. The owner's son has now taken over the business after his parents retired and he has continued the same high quality food and service. read more

A restaurant that's equally cozy and cool, every time I drive through Pendleton this is the only restaurant I want to visit. The humble, brick laid rustic interior is a place to gather with friends, eat great fresh and flavorful food, and feel both happy and at ease: essentially, it's a home. It's actually magical: stepping inside from the scorching summer sun into the shaded interior, you find the cool earthen undertones of the tables, chairs, and barrels, all underneath starry lanterns hanging from the ceiling. For all you Harry Potter fans, this is what I imagine "The Leaky Cauldron" to be. The number of distinct pizzas on the menu is mind boggling. I talked to the Owners' Son about how he spent days coming up with the names of the original 10 pizzas, which has since expanded to 20+! I'm going to make it my life's mission to return over and over to try them all. The other food, soups and sandwiches, are fantastic. They're all decently priced and portioned. Everything is served with fresh ingredients, and I love the extra fruits and vegetables on the side. Where most places inundate the food with grease and salt as way of flavor, Great Pacific keeps things classy even while serving simply prepared food. It's hearty and wholesome! read more

Great Pacific (GP to the locals) is a unique brewery and pizza establishment. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. There is a stage and open mic nights. I visited during the farmer's market. There was live music outside and vendors, which added to the warm atmosphere. I loved the variety of pizza options and beer flight to sample local brews on tap. Definitely as good as it gets in Pendleton proper. My husband and I stayed in Pendleton for 2 nights, and during that time, we went to Great Pacific W&C co. three (3) times during that time! Great Pacific has an amazing beer selection. They have a variety of bottles in the fridge, as well as beers on tap. Also, in the back of the dining room they have a lot of wine bottles to choose from. Their food is amazing, but the most notable was the pizza! The pizza had very fresh ingredients, I could tell the tomatoes were a deep red, and with a lot of flavor. I think they either picked up the tomatoes from the local Pendleton Farmer's Market, or grew them themselves in their backyard. Overall, their food is really great, the staff is really friendly and helpful, and there is a huge space. Plenty of seating. Again, I find myself in Pendleton, OR for work. We wanted to try a place that we haven't visited before and ran across Great Pacific Wine & Coffee. Located off of Main Street in downtown Pendleton. Their menu offers a wide range for just about anyone who may be hungry for anything. My wife settled on a ham and swiss croissant with chips. I ordered the Pastrami with a side salad. Mixed thoughts on this place. Had a pretty heavy Portland/Seattle (old Portland) downtown coffee hippie vibe going on, not in my aesthetic, but certainly not a downgrade. Seems they have live music, lot of beer and wine trade, again, not my style, but not a downgrade. Food was great, an off menu smoked salmon Caesar salad and a Blue Cheese pizza, both had good flavor, cooked and prepared well. The salad was cut a shade too large for easy bites, but that's a matter of style, not quality. The deli style pay and order vibe was not well marked, but that may have just been because of the busy day I was there. Staff was friendly and engaging, food was brought to table in good time. All the right smells and flavors, seems to be a local favorite spot for the artistic/urban crowd. Little too noisy, little too urban, nice change of pace from my usual steakhouse. Visiting pendleton for over a week and my only disappointment is not knowing about this place sooner! It looks small from the outside but it's actually huge with lots of space and tables, so many amazing goodies and selections for wine, and the food is just absolutely delicious!
