This is our nearby market, and he pretty much has everything to offer that you may need for the household in a pinch. Fresh items, that is lacking but I see why. If you need eggs- milk- pint of ice cream- garbage bags- Zero products, he has it . And if you don't see it , ask him, it's probably in the back. I've asked for product , and he may not have it that time, but it's there the next time. He wants to support the community and they support him. We appreciate having a nearby place to stop if we don't want to go to the big grocer. read more

Great local shop that has a little bit of everything - chips, bread, eggs, onion, champagne etc. We stop in here regularly for sparkling water and ice cream during the summer! They always have what you need. Wonderful local spot. read more

i grew up going to this little corner store since '04 & whenever i come back to Chicago i love to visit around my old neighborhood & the places i would go. although the city may have changed, i still love this place. i have fond memories of being a young girl going on walks with my mom & brother here, always getting an orange push-pop & then going to play at Hamlin Park. very friendly staff, nice selection of food & drinks for what it is, & a clean interior. i remember a nice Hispanic man behind the counter when i would go (i forget his name unfortunately). but overall this is a great little place that's stood the test of time (& it sure is a test in Chicago). i'd love to add pictures if i manage to find any in an old photobook somewhere. read more

honestly, i wouldn't trust any person that takes the time out to negatively review an establishment like Bucktown Market. First off, I guarantee you all the people complaining about the prices and selection of Bucktown Market are truly not from Chicago and do not understand the true function of a corner store. A local corner store's function is to pick up a snack, a random home necessity like butter or eggs a bottle of wine etc...and Alex, who runs this place definitely has all of those bases covered! I randomly decided to check this yelp page because my buddies recently moved into this neighborhood and i was almost in tears reading how terribly people have written about this fine establishment. on top of that, people are on here complaining about the store being cramped...and it's really not AT ALL. Folks are also complaining about the prices....DO YOU REALIZE THAT YOU LIVE IN BUCKTOWN/WICKER PARK???? LOL probably top 5 most expensive neighborhoods to live in in Chicago. I like the way this place is randomly in the middle of the neighborhood. A lot of older buildings have storefronts that have become converted into apartments, but this one has managed to remain a store. I mostly go for the beer (good selection), but they have some other basic stuff too. read more

Perhaps it isn't the greatest corner market in the area, but at least you can find a decent variety of quality products here. The layout is incredibly cramped. You'll find a decent selection of natural and organic items, along with some good micro brews. This place maxes out its refrigeration space for the beer selection. Maybe a place like this isn't able to survive in Humboldt Park, but I certainly wouldn't mind if it was in my neighborhood. read more

I really like this place. It is a convenient location to pick up the bare essentials. The owner is super nice and this place is pretty well stocked. They have a good mix of basic items plus some impulse buys. They also have a good selection of alcohol, both on the shelf and also in the refrigerator. There are many times when I am halfway into a recipe and realize I don't have any more eggs or butter or milk and run quickly to Bucktown market to grab it! There is a $5 minimum for credit cards, but most of the time I bring cash or buy a pack of gum to bring up the total. Overall I love this place and I'm so glad it is part of our neighborhood--a truly essential part of this area. read more

This place is well maintained. It is a very place to buy essential goods. They are very friendly and fun to talk to. There is wide selection of quality products. The prices are very affordable. They can offer beer, frozen pizzas, ice cream and coffee. Although with limited stocks, it can help anyone find their needs in an instant. I love buying my needs here for my convenience it brings and the fun it will give us. It's not a mall, but it can ease your worries when you need to buy in an instant. It's a neighborhood corner store. The people who call this place over priced likely have never been to any bodega in NYC before. You can walk a block or two if you live nearby, or you can go a couple miles away to the Aldi if you're really worried about price. Pay with your time or pay with your money? The guys that run this place are exceptionally nice. They recently started stocking vegetables and greens so it's nice if I need a cucumber and a romaine heart when Im making dinner I can just run down the street. Also, this place has beer and booze, enough said. LOL @ the the dude that gives it 2 stars for being overpriced, then proceeds to bitch about asking for $10-$20 in quarters and is upset they aren't counting them out by hand. I'm sure the business model isn't to pre-wrap quarter rolls and leave some quarters out. read more

The folks (folk? I've only seen one man over 5-6 visits) are incredibly kind and they have a great selection of beer and staples for saving a trip to the big chains. The wine selection is pretty bare but very reasonably priced. Your nuts if you think this spot is overpriced - the other boutique spots around the area gouge, this place adds a very small premium for convenience. Why are people complaining about this place? It's rare for a little corner store to survive over here! Most of them have closed and you can see that with all of the converted storefront condos and apartments in the area. The staff is always friendly, the beer selection is quite decent, the ATM is cheap and it's a family-ran operation. It's just convenient and local. They may not sell everything you might get from a Walgreen's... but I'd much rather give them a chance over going to the stratospheric Walgreen's at the crotch. read more

I go to this store at least twice a week. It's within walking distance from my apartment, but there's also a place to park with your flashers on out front. They don't have a huge variety, but that just makes it faster to get in and get out. They have all the bare bones items that you might need- cereal, frozen dinners, drinks (alcoholic and otherwise), and individually-packaged snacks. The only thing is that there is no produce at all, not even your typical mealy 7-11 style apples. I noticed some people wrote that there isn't any indication of hours or whether they're open, but they have a new sign on the door and a list of their weekly hours now. In summary, it's a great, easy way to get a couple of items that you just don't want to go to Jewel for. You can pay with a credit card if you buy more than $5. read more

No complaints about this corner store! This is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! They have a good selection of things you may have forgotten to grab at the grocery store (milk, cheese, eggs, etc). Also great for a quick beer/wine run or for some snacks. I stop in about once a week to grab something I need and the people who work there are always friendly. I'm more than willing to pay an additional dollar or two if that means I can walk and grab some coffee creamer if I run out, as opposed to making a trip to the grocery store.
