I had a great experience with Budget Blinds of Bothell. I didn't feel pressured by the sales guy Jason at all, and appreciated his advice on which brand and styles would work best for us. The quote was right on what I wanted to spend, and he adjusted it for us a couple times after my husband and I discussed it more. We had them install eight standard honeycomb shades, one motorized shade for a very high window, and one exterior shade on the second floor. We've been extremely happy with the shades, and wish we'd replaced our ancient blinds sooner. We went with the double honeycomb style, and the difference in temperature is noticeable. We booked the install within a week or two of their estimate, which seemed reasonable to me. A tie-down broke for the exterior shade broke during installation, and rather than waiting for a spare to get shipped, they found one in their storage and came back to fix it. Throughout the process, both Jason and Eric were responsive to questions -- friendly and helpful. When I accidentally wrote a check from the wrong bank account, they were totally understanding even though it was 100% on me. I had a question a couple months after install, which they answered promptly. I would definitely use their services again. read more

My in-laws used Budget Blinds several years ago and were happy with their work, so we requested a consultation through their website in January and were able to schedule someone to come out the following week. Steve arrived promptly (early, actually) and walked us through our options. He was personable, professional, and patient as we deliberated blinds for our three rooms. His advice was helpful, and we appreciated his input. Window coverings are not inexpensive, but he was able to offer a 25% off promotion which helped. He told us it would be several weeks before they were ready, and we were contacted within that timeframe to schedule the install. The install was done by two young dudes and took all of 10 minutes. Easy-peasy. Unfortunately there were two blinds that were damaged (not beyond functionality, but when you're shelling out big bucks you want it to be damn near perfect). I contacted Steve right away and he called me back immediately to let me know that those two would be reordered. The turnaround was quick, and the replacement blinds look and work great. My sole gripe was with their payment process. You can pay by card in-person only, so we used our card for the first half when we placed the order with Steve. We received an invoice by email for the second half after the work was complete with the option to pay by card online with an added surcharge, or by mailing a check. I wrote a check and mailed it next day. Five days later I received a past due email notice and a voicemail alerting me that payment was overdue. Sorry, but that is excessive. Also, the final invoice included the credit card surcharge "for convenience" so I had to refer to my original quote for the correct amount to pay. I wonder how many people end up writing a check to include the card surcharge... Other than that, we found the process to be painless, and we're happy with the outcome. read more

Everything I can tell you is so cliché about this contractor. DO NOT have them install shutters. I received 6 bids, budget blinds was the 2nd highest in cost. The name is "Budget Blinds". I gave them $16,000.00. The value just isn't there. They said their customer service is industry leading, their industry must be so very terrible. Every delay, every problem, every thing you could possibly think of, "Covid". I signed the contract at the end of April, it's now September 21st. They said six week turn around. Every excuse you could possibly think of as to why they couldn't finish the job, they used. The blinds look great, but my 13 year old said he could have installed them just as good and A LOT cheaper. The shutters, they look terrible. They had no idea what they were doing. They shouldn't be installing shutters at all. Keep to the simple stuff. The customer service was/is terrible. If you get to talk to a person, combative and confrontational. Just look at the above reviews, and I am sure Ryan will blame everybody but himself and his company for this fiasco. We obtained quotes from 3 different vendors. $7000+ from a very well reviewed vendor vs $3800 from Ryan for the same product made by Hunter Douglas. What a big difference in prices! Just because the other biz has more and better reviews (real or fake, yes, there are lots fake reviews out there)? Brian and his young helper were professional and friendly. They finished the installation in about two hours. When I noticed a few stop-balls have some rough edges, Brian replaced them within minutes. Jacob devries came to my house and took measurements for solar shades to replace old wood blinds. All good so far but the valances were a disaster. obviously someone doesn't understand angles. They were too short. The installers were in my garage sawing away but they were beyond help. Have not heard when they will be fixed. In 2003 we bought an entire house worth of blinds and shades of various shapes, sizes, functionality and costs. The 19 window coverings range from the small inexpensive pulldown variety without cords to the motorized home automation system controlled 10'X8' bamboo drop-down fabric shade. The 3" wood slats that cover our billiard room/library room windows are an exact match to the custom color of our pool table and bookcases. During the sales process, Jason the owner made a bold promise to help us out with problems for life. Over the almost 20 years they've been hanging in windows and doors I guess that my sons have pulled down on their blinds a little aggressively and broken the internal mechanisms at least 5 times? A cord on the louvered fabric blinds broke and just this week the wall sized dropdown crestron controlled shade had one of its internal cords break. After almost 20 years, they are sending out a technician to fix the shade at no charge?! I'm not sure if it was because I had a huge order that they did something special for me but I would NEVER recommend anyone buying any blind regardless of price-range anywhere else. The technicians have always arrived on time, been totally professional and never once insinuated or said anything about misusing the blinds causing the failures... I shopped around and their prices are in line with other stores that don't specialize in window coverings. Don't waste time shopping for a little better deal because you can't put a price on amazing customer service! read more

We had one of the single most frustrating experiences with Budget Blinds. Aside from our initial consultation, our experience has seemingly gone wrong at every turn. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. Our initial installation was completed by an inexperienced installer and the quality of the install was atrocious (uneven, sticking out of the window frame, pull chains too long, etc.) and we had to ask for a new installer. This installer also moved several pieces of furniture and did not move them back, and even worse, was seen standing on our bed and pillows in their socks! The second installation was better (original installer accompanied by a more experienced installer), but the original installer still did not follow our directions on multiple occasions to not enter a room with an anxious pet. Very frustrating. During this second installation it was determined that one of the motors was not functioning properly and needed to be reordered (quality control issue). Additionally, we found that some of the end caps were not installed in the initial installation. All of this would require a 3rd installation visit. On the third visit the motor was properly installed, but the installer was given the wrong end caps. The wrong end caps were then sent a second time, and finally, 4 months later, our installation was completed. I shared my experience with members of Budget Blinds (including the owner) and aside from sharing a few empty excuses and a very light and dismissive apology, nothing was done. It was clear that they did not want to hear my concerns. The quality of the actual blinds themselves are fine, but this experience has been one of the very worst customer experiences in my life. I would gladly pay twice the cost to another company to avoid experiencing something like this again. Edit in light of the response: While they were in communication, and the factory is struggling, this does not address the extreme lack of professionalism and competency of the installations. I will gladly contract with a different company in the future regardless of the "savings" offered by Budget Blinds. read more

I would give this company a negative 5 stars if I could. Horrible customer service. I would not send an enemy to this company. Did not listen to anything I said I wanted or needed. After 8 months of pain in my ass going back and forth with the owner Eric with not even the slightest understanding. I was finally ready for them to get my blinds off my dining room floor. Tried to talk to Eric the owner about the sales reps mistakes and as the owner he did not want to help correct the mistakes that were made by his sales rep Stephanie. I have never had such horrible customer service in my 30 years in the industry. I work in construction so that says a lot. When they came to install the blinds they left a mess in each room and then did not even take the old blinds. If you want good blinds at a reasonably rate do not go to Budget Blinds or you will be playing Russian roulette with the service you do get. All I can say is run. read more

Waited a few weeks for an in home consultation when Jason showed up with no mask. At my request to wear one, he came back with a plastic face shield and no mask and said it was just as good. When I asked if he was vaccinated he said it didn't matter and it was a personal decision. His partner didn't have a mask or anything in the car and asked if I had one she could borrow and when I said no she said she will wait in the car. When I said it wasn't ok for him to come in if he didn't have a mask, he stormed off. Very unprofessional! I felt disrespected and will not use this company. So we love to work with our local businesses. We met the manager of Budget Blinds in Bothell who was really friendly and scheduled us a visit. The store representative who came to our home to show us the selection was horrible. She's rude and downright disrespectful. She enters our home and walks towards the windows and told us it would cost us a lot to do the drapery and we should go with pottery barn or any other store.. and she repeats the whole thing again and adds it costs 70$ an inch and 1500$ a window( not sure how that adds up). At this point we were really confused but said we are okay, that's what we are expecting it to cost us(around 1500$). She unwillingly showed the drapery collection she got. We liked something and said we saw similar material in Restoration Hardware. All of a sudden she got lightened up and started being friendly. She said she doesn't have the exact material we like and will drop it off as soon as she have it. It's been 2 weeks and we did not hear anything from them. I never saw someone so focused on not selling their own business but focused on selling others. Totally disappointed and a complete waste of time. read more

Very happy with our custom blinds! We moved into a new house with LOTS of windows. Other custom blinds companies gave long wait times for production (some 6-8 weeks). We wanted our blinds quicker than that and these guys delivered. Came to the house to do measurements (some companies want you to send in the measurements - who has time for that!?), showed me books of blinds, went through all different options, and gave me some discounts. Blinds were installed 3 weeks later, as promised. There was one blind that had to be re-done, but they were back with it in two weeks. I was still very happy with our purchase. One never knows a Company until it's time to repair, replace or utilize a warranty. One of my blinds under warranty broke recently and I expected a replacement. I've had shades installed almost 9 months ago. They weren't the first company or even the second company we tried working with on getting blinds for our entire home. I wish they were our first. We went other places first because of referrals. Here is why I suggest going with Budget Blinds: they have amazing customer service! They didn't try to up sell us and worked with our budget. They have wonderful recommendations on what shades would work with each window in every room. Other companies only gave the high end recommendations and while Budget Blinds even talked me into more practical and lower cost shades because it made more sense! Installment was a breeze. We even had an issue with a blind a few months later and they sent someone right away to take a look. They're always quick on returning messages if I call or email during off hours. I've used BB in my previous home but things have gone down hill. We had Ryan come measure and do our blinds at our new house. Not only did he measure a window wrong by a foot, but worst as a salesman how do you not tell a customer that the color of the fabric you pick also determines the color of the plastic housing? We had been clear that we wanted the window coverings to match our white trim color. He shows us the colors closest to white and we pick a sheer that is like one shade off from white. We get the blinds and the plastic housing is literally dark brown. What the hell? How does that match the trim? My wife and I are very disappointed. Seems all they care about is making a quick sale and not spending the time to ensure the customer gets something they really want. read more

This review is for Tom (budget blinds kirkland) but our house is in Kent, WA. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE/INSTALLATION JOB/ORDER TIME/ATTITUDE!!! BE CAREFUL! DON'T BE FOOLED He is targeting all the new developments, especially Mainvue Homes. In the beginning, the owner, Tom seemed very professional when trying to sell us the blinds. So we got rollershades and shutters. The shades were supposed to take 2-3 weeks, and the shutters were supposed to take 5-6 weeks. However, the shades took 5-6 weeks to come and the shutters took 9-10 weeks. Communications during the whole wait time was horrible. Installations is horrible, 1 rollershade fell and scratched our brand new floor. 6 out of 15 shades were slanted/uneven. Took them 2-3 weeks to send someone over to fix it. The owner, Tom, does NOT care about you once you've made your order. 3-4 of the shades were hard to pull, so they reordered new ones that took weeks to come. 1 of the shutters was an inch too short and we had to wait 4-5 weeks for it to be reordered Basically we ordered at the end of January, we finally got all of our blinds fixed/reordered just now, after 5 months!!! We wasted a lot of time on the phone trying to reach Tom, and trying to get someone to come out to fix our shades, wasted a lot of time being at home so they can come and install or reinstall shades and shutters. Also, they kept making scratches and dents on our walls while installing the shades and shutter! Be careful..don't be fool. My next door neighbor is going through the same issues with them..they are supposed to replace all her rollershades now because of various issues with the original shades. read more

I purchased my blinds 4 years ago from Budget Blinds in Bothell. Recently one of my blinds became defective and I reached back out to them in case it was still under warranty. Eric was super friendly and genuinely wanted to help me. Instead of taking it in for repair, he contacted the manufacturer to see what they could do. I fully expected to be charged for a repair, but Eric called a couple of weeks later and said my new blind was in. I didn't know he ordered a new one and I was waiting for the part where he tells me how much it is. To my surprise, he never mentioned payment at all, just asked when he could come and install it. I got off the phone thinking what great service I've received. I got my blind replaced at no charge to me and I didn't even have to ask. Whether the warranty was up or not, it was great to not have to jump through hoops to get it repaired. To sum it up, great customer service from Eric and a good company I would recommend to my friends. read more

Most horrible experience I've ever had with a business. What could have taken a couple months, was a 7+ month process. Any review on here with more than 1 star is a scam, and probably these low life owners doing fake reviews on themselves. Mistake after mistake was made and what makes it worse, is that their mistake was made out to feel like it was our fault. After all this time, ours blinds still aren't what we originally wanted but we paid them just to move on and be done. What should have been something they just redid until it was right like any other operating business, they didn't. Complete joke and I will never use them again or recommend. Which is sad considering we didn't do our whole house. Could have used them for a lot more business. Their loss. read more
