Please beware. Terrible customer service. Use hertz or enterprise. Used this budget twice recently and had major issues both times. First time waited 2+ hours (only 3 people infront of me). The staff callled it "typical Tuesday" and they said are always understaffed. The second time they gave me a smashed vehicle with a broken headlight. Save time and effort and use one of the competitor.

Do yourself a favor and run ! 50 people in line 2 employees! Waited over 2 hours after a long day of travel it's 10:45pm on a Saturday

Finally an excellent experience at Budget Car Rental in Boston. This airport has won the longest wait for a car but this time it had a twist. After waiting for an hour, someone from the back came out to help the agents. Karim told me to go to the end of the counter. I was almost afraid that I would not be served and have to get back in line. Once I saw him at the computer, I relaxed. Karim have me a Honda Accord, which was perfect for driving to NH. Upon returning, Karim just happened to be there as I drove up. Karim helped me when time was tight for me to get my flight. I was so grateful for the excellent service. Maybe Boston Logan Budget needs to have someone like this out front more often. There has to be a better way. It is demoralizing to take a 3 hour flight and have to wait an hour for a car rental. I take responsibility for not downloading FastPass. I only had 5% on my phone and wanted to make sure I had my reservation information.

So, here's my story, I used a CC to rent and insure a Dollar rental car. (Prices approximate)…read morethrough Expedia, I might add. Cost $490.23 for the car and $140 for insuring said car...after the fact....meaning I used the same card for the insurance, but not the same day. We got to the front desk, told them I'd paid already, and they told me they needed to hold $200 plus I added $71 fuel cost which is $271. I proceeded to give my wife's credit card for the hold and the fuel. When the receipt was presented to me, there was a charge of $985, needless to say after seeing the receipt, I had to change my drawers. Now, long story, short, we worried through our whole trip about that charge, because it was a new credit card and we had no idea that that was going to be the charge on the card. And I was imagining all sorts of difficulty in trying to get that money reversed. Returning the car was a piece of cake. All that was needed was to leave the keys on the dash and walk away, which is pretty cool in my book. But still, I wondered or I should say, my wife and I wondered what the disposition would be of the final bill, and we had to wait a bit to see what would happen. (Suggestion: this is a pay at the Desk rental car company, that is why there was the large charge on the second credit card, however, I'm glad I reserved it early, they seem to have had a plethora of cars there.) Will we didn't receive a final bill but a few days later my wife and I were elated when that $985 had been returned on her new credit card, so we did indeed only pay the $630 or $40 needed which I'd already paid. So, other than worrying about that major expense on one card we were relieved to see the money returned, back on the Second credit card!!! So I'd like to say kudos to Expedia and to Dollar Rent-A-Car for a somewhat nervous but happy Experience, even though it was slightly stressful. If we had had foreknowledge of that big expense being returned, we likely would've not stressed so much, that said I would recommend dollar, they treated us fairly, and pretty good!!!

However, when I was about to pay, I noticed that he wanted me to pay more than what I was expecting. I asked him about it and he was rather evasive. I didnt want to spend a lot of time on this, so I said forget it, I signed, and went on my way. When I got to the parking garage, the guy told me to go get a car that wasn't there. I came back told him, and he eventually got me a different vehicle. The whole thing took maybe 45 minutes, which considering I didnt have to wait for anyone in front of me in line, was longer than it should have been. I didnt have any problems with the vehicle. Returning it was fine, and the guy was nice enough to drive us to the terminal, where we unloaded all our stuff instead of having to cart it from rental car return to the terminal. The next day, I got the receipt for the completed rental. It included the charge the guy at the counter was evasive about. Turns out it was for insurance that I specifically declined. Fortunately, a quick call to Dollar and they offered to refund it. But wait, there's more! I had an extra charge for driving on a toll road. It sucks, but theres no way around it. When you get a car from them, they give you a choice - pay around $17/day and all tolls are covered, or pay the amount of each toll plus about $15 for each day you use a toll road. I only planned to drive on a toll road for like 1 day so I chose the latter option. Fine. Unfortunately the last day, I got a parking ticket. Before the ticket was even due, Dollar charged me a $30 fee for processing the ticket. It wasnt in their purview to get involved at that point since the ticket wasnt even due yet. Of course, Dollar wanted payment before the ticket was even due. Fortunately, if you read the fine print on the letter dollar gave me, it says that if you pay the ticket before its due, you can get a refund from Dollar, so that's what I did. This wasnt as easy as the other refund, as I had to give them proof that I paid the ticket. Overall, Im not happy with Dollar. Their extra fees are not OK and they have no right to be charging me some of them. Their incompetance when I picked up the car turned out to be a problem later, 3 weeks after I returned the vehicle. The only good thing I can say about them is that I booked a full size sedan and they game me a hybrid SUV that got great gas mileage for no extra cost. I doubt Id rent from them again.

We flew into Boston on a Saturday morning and proceeded to wait in the Budget/Avis line (They know it's always busy, why do they insist on merging the two lines?) and it was pure chaos from the second we got in line. It took us roughly two hours to get to the counter which is always fun, but then when we got to the counter it was still somehow an awful experience. I've rented hundreds of cars in the last decade or so and the only company that truly drives me crazy is Budget/Avis. Answering basic questions and trying to pay still somehow managed to take upwards of 25 minutes and that was with us offering everything quickly. Overall? I sure hope I remember to choose any other car rental company the next time I fly into Boston. All the other lines were moving so much faster, nobody was loudly complaining about being stuck for two hours, and maybe some of the other companies can help people start a trip off on the right foot. Now as for the car itself, I'm satisfied with what we were given and it runs great, if only the rest of the experience was even half as good as that.

She didn't seem to want to be helpful. It was a slow day. She was on the phone on a personal call and eating inside an SUV. I drove out of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride airport road as happy as can be. That airport had me going in circles. I was driving for maybe 7 minutes when I heard a sound. I looked down, and the low oil canister sign appeared. Two minutes later, the check engine light came on. Right after that, the low gas alert came on, omg. A scary experience for a woman driving alone in a state she has never been to. I called Avis and told them about the issue. They were apologetic and had good customer service. I told them I didn't want to go back to the airport, but I would exchange it at the nearest location. I did a prayer and drove to it with the little alarms going off. They gave me another vehicle. The process was smooth. It was just time-consuming, and I am here for cork and not fun. I didn't have the time to waste.
