I do not recommend using this business. I'm giving it a second star just because the truck we got performed its task of running and transporting our stuff when moving. But this seems like a poorly run business. First of all, know that making a reservation doesn't actually guarantee that a vehicle will be available for you at that time. We made a reservation for a specific time in the morning and made our moving-day plans based on that time, but there were no trucks available and we had to come back later to get one. When we returned, several other customers were stuck in the same position -- they had made reservations, but there weren't vehicles for them at the right time. Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems reasonable to expect that reservations not be completely useless. On Saturdays, this location closes at 2, which means you have to pay a $10 late fee if you want to return it after 2 on the same day. Good luck returning it by 2 when you can't get a truck until 12:45! An employee told me we could return it first thing in the morning the next day without paying a late fee or two-day charges, but after the reservation nonsense, I didn't trust them not to charge me for an extra day. Here's another thing that happened to me, though it may not actually be typical: I drove this truck about 12 miles, and I took it to a UDF a half-mile down the street to refill the tank before returning it to Budget. I wound up being charged $39 for not refilling the tank (what?) and I couldn't make a good-enough case for a credit card dispute because I had thrown away the receipt for my UDF fill-up. With the $30 "protection" in case of an accident (which was maybe a ripoff, I don't know), the two hours of truck rental cost me about $140. When I arrived to pick up my pre-paid reservation (I was on time) they did not have my requested car. The only options I were given were to wait an hour or pay for a $150 upgrade to an SUV. I was under the impression that Budget would provide a fee upgrade should they not have my reserved car in, but apparently not. I chose to wait for the hour, which quickly turned into three. When I finally got my car I called into Budget's national customer service, who agreed that this was unacceptable but did nothing to remedy the situation. read more

Horrible customer service!!!!Please read the reviews! The low ratings for this business are MORE than deserved!!! The franchise owner, MIKE McGUIRE left my fiance in tears and hung up on me today as I tried to resolve a problem that HE ADMITTEDLY created!!!!!! Costing us in excess of $1,000 out of pocket, not to mention the additional time now to make another trip to Columbus!! He simply doesn't care!!! I'm actually astonished that Avis Budget Group allows someone like him to own a franchise and put their name on his building!! Quick story: We reserved a 24' truck. We NEEDED a 24' truck! When we arrived Mr McGuire informed us that he accidentally gave our truck to someone else. He sent my fiance off with a 16' truck. Despite 4+ hours of trying (at $115 per hour) the storage company simply couldn't fit our furniture into the smaller truck! Resulting in additional storage fees and another trip to CMH. We were told by one of Mike's employee that we would be credited the difference to the smaller truck. Also NOT TRUE!! They offer $60 "inconvenience fee"!!! read more

I've just returned from a trip using a van that I rented from The Olentangy location and all I can say is THANKS. Mike McGuire was absolutely great. He was extremely helpful, courteous and delivered everything as promised. And this was not the only time. I've rented here several times in the past and will continue to do so. And I have to say that Mike is probably the most patient person that I have encountered in the retail service industry. I've been in there many times when belligerent, rude and demanding "customers" have tried their best to set him off and he has always handled those people respectfully even though it was obvious that they were being totally irrational. BAD BAD BAD. The original price they quote you is wrong. I was told it would be $30 + $0.99 for every mile (I traveled maybe 17 miles total) and my bill was over $100. When I called to figure out what that was about they informed me I was charged for all of these additional insurance add-ons which I specifically told the clerk at check-in I didn't want. They said there was nothing they could do because I signed the rental agreement even though none of this information was disclosed. When I showed up (after having made a reservation over a week prior) they told me it was the last truck and if I had gotten there just moments later it would have been gone. Essentially, they run on a first-come first-serve basis which again, THEY DO NOT DISCLOSE. Customer service was slow, no instruction. BAD BAD do not go here read more

Terrible customer service. Dropped the truck off 2 days early so they made extra money off us and the man screamed at us to get the lock off the truck immediately or he was going to cut it off. He would not even wait 5 minutes for my friend to text me the combination. Unprofessional and no one ever apologized for their behavior Don't use budget. I will never return. read more

I had reserved a vehicle for two days (Sat/Sun) at this location, and upon pickup was billed for a THIRD DAY because he said I had come to pick the car up an hour earlier than I had pre-ordained on the website. He went ahead and swiped my card PRIOR TO EVER MENTIONING that he was adding the extra day to my card, just demanding that I sign. When I said I would just come back at 9 and that I didn't wish to sign that agreement, he was upset and all but demanded I sign the "contract" he had printed. As we walked outside to the vehicle, it was FILTHY. Dirty on the outside, disgusting on the inside..with water-bottle garbage and even a full Nalgeen bottle nestled in the center console. Dirt on the floor, covered in dirt and mud on the exterior. As we walked the vehicle for damage, he CLEARLY saw and walked right on by several areas of clearly visible damage, like the dent on drivers' side door, scratches (large) in the bumper, and even some good gouges on the passenger side. I had to add notes myself to the page before I signed it. The vehicle was also supposed to be full of gas, which it was not. It was almost empty. Despiet the fact that IO was there at 8 am instead of 9, there was no way that he would have been able to clean the vehicle or the others that folks were in line to pick up this morning in the extra hour I was charged an extra DAY for. I felt that this experience was VERY SHADY, and will not return to this Budget rental facility in my neighborhood. First off, the owner simply "Doesn't Care" about your issues. (His words) We rented a truck to do a pickup for a customer for our business, it was short term notice but we thought we lucked out when they had one available. They didn't bother to give us an estimate or an idea of what we'd pay for the truck before we rented it, nor did they give us a rental agreement copy beforehand. It turns out they have the ability to charge you what they call a 'Business Rate' compared to a personal rate. The Business rate gives you cheaper per mile, but they charge you twice for an insurance rate if you take their coverage. We were not aware they had done this, and since we only used it for 2 hours and low miles it certainly didn't add up to the best option for us. The rental rate alone for the truck is outrageous, $48 for a 12' box truck which is more than double what U-Haul charges for a smaller size truck! Then after going only 20 miles, the truck took $20 in gasoline to get it back to the level it was taken with. We asked them to instead change the Business Rate to the other rate which would have saved us money, that aforementioned owner was extremely rude, telling us that its not possible and he wasn't going to and that we should be happy they charged us the business rate. We didn't even get an option, they just made us take it. Eventually after arguing with him he refunded us some of the gasoline charges. I personally had a previous job at a truck rental business and if I had treated customers like this man did I would have lost my job pretty quickly. The simple lack of even listening to a customer's issue without copping an attitude is crazy to me. Customer service is non-existent at this store and they price gouge you without a care. I will never recommend this business to anyone. The owner of this location, Mike McGuire was the rudest, most unprofessional man I have ever come across. I will NEVER use Budget again after my nightmare experience with this man. I have no clue how he can still be in business!! I had a truck reserved and when I arrived on time he tells me "I gave your truck away this morning, I made a mistake!!" He never apologized or tried to resolve this issue instead he walked out the door saying "I'm out of here!!" allowing someone else to help me. I was shocked at his lack of respect for his employee not to mention a customer! DO NOT rent from Budget, they overcharged me only then to refer me to a 1-800 customer service number in which was no help!! HORRIBLE!! This franchise location needs to be looked at closely by corporate. I was amazed after reading other reviews how this man can continue representing any company!! read more
