There was a manager present who simply held up a wall and didn't do anything else. And then to top it off, American Express quoted me $200.78 when I got to pay she said it was $75 more. She then said taxes and fees can change at airports. It made no sense. Olivia was a bit testy but pleasant, but kept saying "like I said... things can change." But that isn't right. I originally had a reservation for Budget..... why did i do that?!?!? When I got to the rental car facility, the line was long as hell because it was a sale. I looked over at Alamo and there was one person in line. I promptly booked my car via Priceline, and it was about $18 more than Budget. I was in and and out the Alamo line in 10 mins. I looked over at the Budget/ Avis lines , they were still working with the same 2 people when while I was in the Budget line. The Columbus Airport has a consolidated rental car facility . You take the rental car facility bus from the terminal, and it takes you to the rental cars housed in a offsite garage (about a mile away from the airport.) You can select any available model they have on the hand based on the category of vehicle you rented. The signage on rental return was easy to spot. Employees at this location are very friendly. I have rented from Alamo in the past in Puerto Rico and had a great experience so I decided to try out the location at the Columbus airport. I flew in from New Orleans and my flight got in really late. I appreciated that Alamo was still open when most other rental companies were closed. The employee at the desk was very friendly and helpful. I was exhausted from a long day of travel and he was efficient and understanding. They had a wide variety of vehicles to choose from and I was able to get the car that I wanted for a very decent rate. I will continue to use Alamo in the future and am grateful for the nice experience! read more

I recently rented a vehicle from Alamo from the Columbus airport. I was absolutely discussed on the interior conditions of the vehicle. As I got into the car, a pungent smell of vomit from the back of the car could be noticed. As I looked back, there were stains all over the carpet and on the seats. I got out of the car and told the man working behind the counter to come look at the car with me. I honestly thought that it was a joke that they were actually giving me this as a rental. As I explained the poor conditions of the interior the man working there just shrugged his shoulders without apologizing. Long story short... Booked rental same day on site and arrived and was told that they only had a full size rental suv and it would cost me 130 plus dollars for a day rental!!! This is by far the worse location and customer service I have received ever in my life fork Alamo!! This is ridiculous that the site allowed me to book a full size car and when I arrived it's a different story and very rude customer service. I would not be returning to this location at all. Shuttle drivers always help us with our bags (my husband is disabled but mobile, and they still insist on lending a hand ), and we've never had to wait more than a minute or two for one to arrive. Employees are very friendly, at every location we've been to. Drop off is VERY quick and easy. Reasonable prices, too. My only complaints are that the shuttle bus driver we had in Ohio had the heater on in 80° heat (just the one from the airport to the rental place), and a "full size sedan" is apparently a Hyundai Sonata. I learned I was placed on the Do not rent list for sending someone (my ex husband) to return my rental car after finding out I had Covid. I tried to explain this, I offered to show my covid positive results that match the dates of the rental but BRET wouldn't even care to see. Anyways, I had prepaid for the rental through a third party, I had to call and cancelled. Next thing, my husband goes in to get a rental, he's greeted and processed by the nice ladies at the counter, when we go upstairs now Mr. YUTSY informs us that my husband can't rent and is being placed in the do not rent list because his association with me. I numerous times tried to reason with Mr. YUTSY instead he decides to close the window on us and call airport security. Officer Ford at the CMH police mediates but Mr YUTSY is not willing to rent to my husband who was nothing to do w the issue I had months ago and landed me in the do not rent list and now for unknown reasons my husband is also being placed in the Do not rent list. Anyways, we leave to go get a rental somewhere else. We call the 3rd party to get our money back since both rentals were prepaid and we are told that Alamo has confirmed that my husband has picked up the rental. While having the third party (Priceline) on the line we go upstairs to inform to Mr YUTSY and ask him to speak to the rep, he again turns his back and calls the police again. A lady at the counter stars screaming at me saying that I need to leave while I explained her that I don't want to be there but I need them to confirm that the rental was not picked up. The lady (who was inside the booth w mr yutsy) screams to the Priceline rep but fails to provide her name and throws my phone to me. The police arrives and luckily the Priceline rep tells me they were able to confirm the car was not picked up and we will be refunded. Please avoid going here. DO NOT RENT FROM ALAMO!!!!!!!! I read the reviews too and thought give it a try. I secured my week long rental of an intermediate car online, using my Alamo Insider. I picked my car up at 10:04pm, I was told that I needed to have a paper copy of a discount received online. I'm not sure why my entire reservation is not honored. I received a Nissan Versa, a compact car and was not refunded the cost for the lower category. My contract states that I have 171 max rental time for return. I returned my car a little past 170 hours. Now the fun part, my quoted cost was 261.46. I paid 315.14, which included a full day at a cost of $47. Then to add further insult my card was charged another $32, then was refunded $20. I will not be returning to Alamo. read more

Unbelievable- we were given a vehicle with expired tabs. They were expired by 5 months! We then received a ticket while driving the rental vehicle, given a citation, and had to drive back to the airport at 11 PM to get a new vehicle. They said we could pick "any car from the lot" but only 3 of their vehicles were properly registered with tabs!! They also refused to refund our rental, but did say they would take care of the ticket (as if they're doing us a favor). We just received a bill in the mail for said ticket and now have to deal with their incompetent customer service who says it's our responsibility. I can't even believe how horrendous this place is. I tend to avoid car rentals as a matter of course, mainly due to the astronomical addition of insurance after getting a good rate online and the added headache to any travel situation. For a quick trip back to the heartland, however, I took advantage of a deep discount at Alamo paired with my Southwest flight. I made the right decision. With the exception of a little confusion with the airport signs, I basically walked off the plane, into the rental office, did some paperwork immediately based off of my last name, ran my card and got into a car and drove off. Free upgrade, though I intend on going with a bigger car than the sardine can Cruze I got stuck with next time, and I rolled out and on to my destination. The return was even easier. Pulled right in on off of 670, straight to a helpful guy with a handheld doo-dad that checked me in and sent me on my way. But only after double checking that I hadn't left anything in the car and then treble checking and handing me my brand new cell phone that I had left in the cupholder even after his reminder. Color me impressed. How many other places do they see lost items as an eBay bazaar? I would highly recommend the Alamo/National connection at CMH. Quick. Easy. Good rates. I had a great experience here. The staff was friendly and let my wife and I check out multiple cars before making a decision. We ended up renting their BMW X3. We enjoyed the rental so much when we returned we went to BMW to buy one. The car was a 2018 and we had no issues with it. My daughter is in school 2250 miles away from home and came down with the flu Saturday afternoon. I made quick reservations and flew out Saturday night. Sunday morning I arrived in Columbus Ohio and went to pick up my rental car at Alamo. I rented the car at $25/day for two days. The charge was $92.26 so I asked for clarification. Apparently the $25 was only for the first day, the second day was $40. I explained that is not what I reserved online and they offered to cancel the reservation. After a 2-hour weather delay flying in I just wanted to get my daughter to Urgent Care which has limited hours on Sunday. The representative, Bouchra, (may not be spelling that correctly) would not speak with a manager and proceeded to cancel my reservation. I called Expedia and was booked immediately, at a better rate, with a competitor right next-door. Alamo lost a customer over $15. I hope anybody reading this NEVER rents with Alamo. What a terrible experience while being distressed trying to reach my sick child...shame on them. read more

Good service and I like how you can choose your own car. My only issue is the car was dirty inside and this was not seeable in the evening so by the time I really saw it I was too far away to return. New to Ohio. Went to pick up pre-reserved car at Alamo. The women at the desk was so unfriendly and not at all concerned about my needs. I handed her my credit card and it had a chip on it. She said it did not go through. I called the number on my card and they stated to have her enter it again. She looked at me and said, its no good. I cant do anything. I asked if she could try it again our call the 800 number for the card as the card associate suggested. She said she could not help me. WOW! I walked down to Avis and the nice man there had no problems and made sure I felt comfortable and not lost. I rented the car and went on my way. I just hope that some day if the women at Alamo ever finds herself in a strange town and something does not work for her that someone does not treat her like she treated me. read more

do yourself a favor and find another car rental company. the service was awful (during a Tuesday at 11am...). what's more is they'll charge you for damage when you aren't responsible for it. they also choose to automatically send it out to a third party vendor to wipe their hands clean of ever talking to you.
