As I walked in, I was absolutely blasted with the smell of MJ. I don't care if someone smokes - but to come to work smelling of MJ is IMO akin to showing up reeking of alcohol, not a good look. There were 3 or 4 employees there, but only one appeared to be doing anything for most of the time I was there. Perhaps the others were all on break at the same time? The individual working was trying to help 2-3 people at a time while the coworkers sat around. I can only assume they were on a break. The system crashed while I was getting my car assigned, so it took a little longer than usual. The car I got smelled horrible - my husband and I had to drive with the windows down most of the day. However, the car got me from A to B, which is what mattered. Props to William who was extremely friendly and made the rental experience as easy as possible despite the system issues. read more

Do Not Rent From This Location!!! Take your business elsewhere. It is not worth the hassle and excessive time. I waited over an hour just to return a vehicle and get a receipt. There was nobody in the office nor any customers in line. Would've been interesting to see a couple customer and see the wait time to be more than a few hours. The person running the front desk is also the person washing the cars and answering all the phone calls. This seems like it has been a known issue for quite some time as other reviews dated much farther back have the same complaints. Budget/Avis just doesn't seem to care. The employee does not care, provides no service or assistance, is not even at front desk mainly and they also do not provide ride service to/from rental location. The other competitor rental companies in the immediate surrounding area would be much better choices as they have more staff, quicker/better service plus they provide ride service to/from the location in my experiences. Do not rent from this site. Vehicles are unreliable. I received a vehicle with the check engine light and low tire pressure. When I called the office, they stated they could not swap out the vehicle and could not give a refund and my only recourse was to return the vehicle. When I called Budget they only offered a coupon for a future rental and not a refund. I had to scramble to rent another vehicle at Hertz across the street to continue my trip. We came and forgot our ID so We went back to get it and when we came back we were second in line and tony(the employee)helped the 3rd person in line.We let tony(the employee working)know and his reply was "I know but these people aren't as complicated as you" and we let it go but once we were leaving to finish up we let him know that wasn't professional of him and he reacted rudely towards us and threw our ID and credit card back at us. Avis used to be my first choice in rental car companies, but over the last few years the Avis / Budget rental locations have just been disappointing me more and more. Unfortunately, my most recent car rental at this location was equally disappointing. Although my overall rental experience at this location was terrible, it started off quite positive. The attendant was extremely friendly and professional, and this location was easy to get in and out of, with a minimal wait time. The attendant at this location was also honest, and he didn't try to slip in unrequested fees like some other rental car locations sometimes try to do. I signed my contract and I was all set up with what seemed to be a reasonably nice car (a Chevy Cruze), and I was headed out the door. Unfortunately, the car was only filled to 3/4 of a tank full of gas. I was warned about this, that this location didn't have the time to fill it from the previous customer, and I was told that I could just return the car with the tank filled with gas at the same level. This made it complicated when returning the vehicle, since it is difficult to know when one has filled the tank to anything other than full. Another problem I noted immediately upon getting the car was that the car smelled like smoke, despite the typical warnings to customers not to smoke in rental cars. This wasn't too bad when I first got the vehicle, but it became increasingly more annoying with every hour I spent in the car. Immediately after driving off of the lot I also noticed trash from the previous renter, and I then looked around to discover how filthy the car really was. There was apparently also not enough time to clean this vehicle in between customers. Yuk! After driving several miles away, I also noticed that the brakes appeared to be going out, because the brake pedal almost hit the floor before the vehicle began to decelerate. This was not only irritating but worrisome, as I was somewhat concerned about my safety. Adding to my concerns was that one of the engine-health lights lit up as I was driving the vehicle down the freeway. The light indicated that the engine was low on engine oil. I know that some readers will think I am exaggerating with this review. Surely, all of these problems could not occur with one rental car! I was thinking the same thing as I was driving this hopeless vehicle, and it started to become less annoying and more comical. What else could possibly go wrong? Thankfully, nothing else did. Although this location was excellent as far as professionalism and friendliness, this location appears to be significantly lacking a sufficient staff to check-in their vehicles, monitor them for mechanical health and safety, and return the vehicles fully fueled and cleaned for the next customer. Overall, I believe this location deserves a 2-star rating, and I think I am being a bit generous on this one. read more

When we returned the car, agent Mark Chavez claims we damaged an under panel between the engine and the tire!!! Who the hell looks under the car when checking it out? I purchased the insurance so there is no charge to me but I refuse to fill out a claim for damage I did not cause. When I was checking the car out, I heard the staff talking about another customer who works at a "solar panel" company who always damages theire cars. Had to rent a car due to Toyota not being able to get the part needed for my car until tomorrow. I went through Costco like I always do and have never had a problem at other rental places or with Budget in other states. My price was $52.51 for the day. I was completely fine with that. When I got to Budget they had plenty of cars outside in all different sizes. I get to the counter to pick up my full size car and was told that for me to get a car, I would need to pay triple the cost that I agreed to on line. That was just the base price, no add ons. The man told me that the car that I agreed to rent wasn't available and that he had to put me in a Camaro. They consider that a luxury care. I rent from Budget all the time in other states and never have they not honored the agreed upon price. Budget just lost a customer due to the scam artists in the Lancaster store. Only 1 of 3 ppl were working. Took hours to get our car. We had a reservation and they said the computer was down. Once we mentioned the reservation, the computer was magically up and running. DO NOT ISE THIS PLACE!!! My good friend rented a car from here and only drove about 20 miles on the freeway and a tire completely blew. She was able to get off the freeway and a CHP helped her. She called to let the car rental place know and was told to call her own roadside assistance. When she took the car back they tried to accuse her of damaging the tire. They tried to charge her for the car! If that wasn't enough the staff verbally attacked her with one employee named Mckayla calling her a bitch and laughing at her!!! Just look at the reviews ... it's obvious not to use them... go to hertz or enterprise they clean their cars and have extremely friendly agents. Budget does not clean their cars and I went on a business trip used the car to drive to my location and back and do not smoke at all! Albert then accused me of smoking in the car by stating" you smoked and tried to cover it up and this happened before!" I was shocked ...albert was the rudest agent I have ever dealt with. When I picked up the car he didn't smile and I assumed oh he must not be capable of smiling even when I smiled. He rented the car didn't explain anything and then bam here are my keys ... ok no problem car was supposedly being washed so I waited mind you I had to be 4 hours away at 12 and it was already 8. In addition I have a cold can't breath and have a cough....No big deal... nice car but absolutely filthy and I couldn't even see through the foggy dusty windows ... I took pictures and then wiped it off so I can see and not die on my way San Diego. Went to San Diego Parked the car at my conference and then jumped back in 2 days later to go home. Next day I drop it off and he says drop the keys so I did and realized I needed a receipt came back in and that's when he didn't kindly say it but talked to me like he did me a favor by renting me the car.... no i rent cars when going on business strips... I then said he was rude for accusing me of lying and then said you are lying !!! I was SOOO offended who does that! I do not smoke and if I did I would own up to it like no big deal its a compny card although I wouldn't have them pay more but it wasn't an issue!! I then said he was so rude and he said "I don't care"!! Omgosh it was like the twilight one he was the worst!! First of all: give yourself at least 45 minutes to pick up and drop off. Be prepared for no one caring, employees ordering/receiving food instead of helping customers. There are maybe 4 people who work here and NONE of them should be in customer service. Second: be expected to return the car BETTER than it was given to you. They will charge for it being "dirty" but they don't clean the inside between rentals so they can keep charging for it. In 4 rentals i have had drinks left in the car, candy melted in cup holders, trash on the floor, gum stuck in carpet, and a diaper in the trunk. But this last time I was told that "If you look close you can see pet hair" when no animals were in the car while i had it. Third: In 4 rentals, I have not been in the office when there isn't someone upset. All over charges added on or made up, or being TOLD one thing but then shown something else on contract. Or vehicle issues. This last visit they got a phone call in which the customer stated that their "Check Engine" light came on. The employee asked "Are you sure it's the check engine light?" Then proceeded to tell the customer that it was serviced before rental and "don't worry about it" that they would check it AFTER the customers' rental was complete. Fourth: If you reserve online, they are probably not going to have what you reserved. 4 times I have reserved a Standard Elite SUV but when I go to pick up, only once was it available. Twice I was given a Standard SUV and once I was given an Intermediate SUV. Each time I had to argue for 10 minutes to be charged the correct price for the given SUV and each time the tried to argue that the vehicle presented was a Standard Elite. Each time the vehicle was listed as an example for the smaller sizes. None of these employees can even pretend like the want to be working there. The office looks at least 30 years old with no maintenance done. I have rented from Enterprise at least 15 times and have only had 1 problem that was dealt with promptly and professionally. They will drag their feet (opened 10+ minutes after 0800 on Monday morning and had a line of folks waiting for them), treat you like you're worthless (guy couldn't be bothered to stop his conversation with his buddy, so I had to guess at what he needed to complete the transaction and get my car, and then got treated like I'm an idiot when I guessed wrong), then they rushed the checkout process, rented me a car with a "full" tank, and then upped my cost over 30% when I returned it just as "full" as it was when I rented it. I liked Avis better and if you can rent from Hertz across the street. I've rented cars from this business for the last 3 years nonstop. I have family that lives in the bay so I drive up there every 3months to check on them so I rent cars to keep the miles low on my BMW. This last time I renewed from them was the worst. #1 the car smelled like dog and had fur all over the backseat.(I let it go cause it was only me using it). #2 the car was dirty on the exterior and the interior was worse. #3 there was an old McDonald's half eaten burger in pieces on the floor and under the seat. #3 the gas was a quarter empty and I was told to just bring it back like that. (Who gives you a car with no gas?) and lastly here's the kicker!! I bring the car in and he goes out to look at the mileage and comes back and acts like everything is fine and he's about to have me sign a receipt and on the receipt it said $250+ fee for smoking in the car?!??? Like what?!? What if I signed that crap then left and had a $250 fee on my credit card!!! So I argued with me, I told him I did not smoke in the car, I didn't have any smokers in the car of any sort. He then tells me "well the car is back 2 hours early so just go air it out" I'm like wtf dude so I call my mom, she comes and gets in the car and she's like he's trippin. Mind you my mom is a nurse that works at the prison so if anyone smells weed or smoke she would and she did not. So we went to get McDonalds then came right back and got a second opinion from a Caucasian lady and she said it smelled like food and perfume lol so if it was really smoked in or whatever he tried to say how can it be aired out in 15mins??? (the guy that tried to basically rob me for $250 was a young Asian guy with dark hair, thick eyebrows and glasses) be aware when renting from them.
