I walked away from this experience feeling deeply disappointed. I had booked an appointment well in advance, clearly stating that I was 24 years old. I was fully aware of the under-25 rental policy and was told upfront that I'd need to pay an additional fee--which I had no issue with. I accepted the terms, and the booking was confirmed. However, when I arrived to pick up the car, I was met by a very young front-desk staff member--he looked no older than 15 or 16 years old--and the entire process quickly fell apart. Without even checking my reservation details or confirming anything on file, he immediately told me, "You're too young to rent a car," and turned me away. What's most frustrating is the complete lack of consistency and professionalism. If your system allows a confirmed booking for someone under 25 (with the agreement to pay additional fees), how does it make sense to reject that same customer on-site without so much as verifying the appointment? To add to that, there was no manager or adult staff present to clarify the situation or assist further. It was unprofessional, poorly handled, and frankly disorganized. Honestly, I should've listened to the reviews saying this place is awful. I just needed a car for a couple of days to commute to LA, and figured this place would be convenient. Turns out, it wasn't worth the hassle at all. I ended up renting from Lancaster instead--it was much cheaper, way more straightforward, and I actually got a good deal. Lesson learned. read more

I was traveling to town from out of state and experienced a check engine light with my vehicle that I rented from a different Avis. I went to this location to see what could be done. I was met with very good customer service skills. The representative at the location was quick to get me into another vehicle of the same class without any issues. He was friendly and very helpful. They do what they are there for but the place is seriously under staffed. Avis needs to move this place and give it its own parking lot. With so many people out here and this being the only location within an hour drive it's awful. They share the parking lot with like 8 other businesses. Customers have no idea where to park to drop off the car. Also why is this place behind in rental car tech. Every Avis rental place I've been to in recent years has simply scanned the car and said you're good to go when dropping off. But this place still does pen and paper to get the details and it's a wait because they are understaffed. The employees are great though. 1/2* ---BEWARE OF CREDIT INFOR.--AVIS @ 1342 E PALMDALE BLVD PALMDALE, CA This independent Avis operator Shabd Group Inc. runs Avis like it's some type of 2nd rate agency. We've used Avis for many years, but this place tells you after you reserve a car week's ahead of time, its first come first serve. Then adds "to take the vehicle he's offering or go somewhere else". Get this I pre-register with ID, credit card etc.., and he asked for my credit card and was writing the credit card number on a carbon copy. I stopped him, his reason was his computers were broken, (but I had already fill-out all the preregister doc's already). BEWARE, (just seen him do this to a person Infront of me), then tossed the carbon copy with their credit card number on a desk. Saying his computers are down for over a month is very suspicious? It took a half an hour just to return a car, stupid me for wanting close out paperwork. Plus, these cars are dirty inside, I asked for another rental because the first one he gave us smelled like throw-up. Shabd offered us at first, if I wanted them to spray some Febreze in it. The 2nd car was full of hair, never vacuumed out. I even heard him telling a worker to spend 5-7 minutes per car, because they're going to be busy. Rented from here before and swore I'd never do it again. Well... unfortunately, I found myself need a rental quick and ended up at this God forsaken place once again. We were going to Vegas and because of previous experiences, I called ahead and told them we would be traveling to Vegas for a wedding and could the please try and have us a decent, clean vehicle. I should have known better when he said that they would try instead of being able to remind me that they clean all of their cars thoroughly. Well I sent my husband to pick up the car, btw he was the one who convinced me that we would be ok going here. He comes in the house and get a tub of Clorox wipes and says he has to wipe the car up. I'm thinking, oh cool a little Covid extra precautions. Then I go outside and he's trying to clean the seats where it looks like a cow had their menstruation! I go oh hell naw you get in this car and get it back around the corner to the filthy people who gave it to you! I was so upset with him for even leaving the lot with something that looked like this. When we got there, they offered to give us another vehicle but I said I would walk to Vegas before I took another vehicle off that lit! If I could rate them a ZERO, I certainly would, because they've EARNED IT. I am going to be as honest with this review yet not hold back either. Here it goes... I came here last Friday, March 26th, close to noon b/c I needed to check out a vehicle to rent for 3 days. I was checked out by the counter at 12:01p.m. (as indicated in their system), I returned the vehicle FULL TANK & UNSCATHED by Monday, March 29th, just a little over an hour LATE. They were charging me an entire day's worth. This piece of information was NEVER conveyed to me prior. In fact, I took the liberty of asking their agent, VICTOR, about whether it would be okay if I came in a bit late with the vehicle upon return (just in case). He specifically said, "Yes, that's okay--don't worry." So, I was thinking that [worst case scenario] they would simply charge a late fee if at all. Never was I informed about being charged an extra day rate for a vehicle I no longer needed. Plus, Victor made me sign off on a fully insured rental for a total of $265 (+ some cents) with a daily rate of $63.99. Yet, upon return, I was being charged a daily rate of $83 (around there) + the extra day. Also, Victor neglected to inform me about a holding deposit of $150. So, when I checked my bank account, I saw a figure that was unfamiliar. So, after much thought and consideration for their poor customer service and business etiquette, I feel I'd be seriously remiss if I did not review them to offer my most honest customer feedback and testimonial. I will NEVER rent a vehicle through them again, and I highly advise others to do the same if you want to avoid undisclosed costs and save yourself the agony of transacting with shady businesses. But if this isn't warning enough to keep you from renting at this AVIS center, just make sure that Victor does NOT serve you. This is an Avis/Budget location. We have a big family and routinely rent the 12 passenger vans as well as compact cars when taking trips with just the two of us (not wanting to put the miles on our own cars). They have ALWAYS been friendly and awesome! Budget has great rates that cannot be beat. Yes, checking in/out can take time but I realize that it's like that at any car rental place. I arrived 10 minutes before my scheduled drop off time(4:00 PM) only to see a sign telling me that they would be back at 4:20 pm. This place is a Budget/Avis and I'm pretty sure they have the same shitty standards. My husband and I have been renting cars from Budget exclusively for about 2 years now. Every time we have paid with our debit card because we do not have credit cards and each time we pay an extra deposit because it's our debit cards and we are fine with that. However this time we were in a bind and had to rent last minute, I prepaid for a 2 day rental with my debit card like usual and when my husband and I went to pick up the car at 6pm when he got home from work and all the other rental agencies were closed, we were told that because we did not have any major credit cards we would have to go through a credit check! We were denied our prepaid rental because of our credit report despite our rental history with this company. Then we were told we would have to call their corporate office to get our money refunded because they would see it as a last minute cancel. Obviously at this point I was really upset and called to speak to someone who instead of being comforting and understanding was rude and cold. I realize that I was pretty upset when I called but this manager had no tact or human interaction skills. He talked to me as if I was an idiot that didn't speak his language. On top of that we got a cancellation email that states they are charging us a $150 cancellation fee! Way to add insult to injury. After two years of rental history with this company I am going to make it my personal mission to make sure no one I know or come in contact rents from them ever again. Oh my Gosh...It was horrible !! Those guys treated me as a liar at the counter in their office over a disputed invoice. They have called the cops to throw me out and I reported the situation when they arrived. Beware of AVIS in Palmdale, CA. Those who run there including the supervisor (who might actually be the owner) behaved like latino Mafia during the dispute and did not correct the amount. I don't know how they have low ratings. I've been here twice and both times the 2 guys who were working there I believe William and Victor were working very hard. I feel they are always busy and understaffed but they try very hard to get things done. I appreciate hard workers and know what is it like to be busy and try to please everyone. They have made things easy for me and always have the best prices. Worst car rental experience I've had! I had made a reservation for 10 am got to the shop at 9:45 just to play it safe to which they had been open already for 45 minutes. At 10:45 finally i was helped by the one person behind the desk on duty to handle the entire store by himself while 3 people washed cars with no cars ready. They decide to give me a rental with no front plates and when i asked the guy to swap the car out because it's illegal in California to be driving without plates he says dont worry about it. Man what can I say? I went here looking to rent a corvette while staying in the area visiting family. I went in and a young lad by the name of William Lopez took me in and man this guy ends up hooking me up with a good deal on a camaro instead. I decided It was even better because I do end up having to drive more than one passenger around and he said he would get me a good deal. I got the car and it looked really clean and I ended up loving it. If I could give zero stars I would. I'm a Preferred Avis member...rented a car on a Saturday with Willie (agent). Booked via Costco with an awesome rate. Upon rental we (my son and I) inquired about keeping the car one day past the initial rental day due to the site closing at 2p (on a Tuesday) vs their normal business hours. We were advised the amount was an additional $60 for the one day. My initial rental was only $134 for the 3 day rental. Willie advised he couldn't match the rate I was given on Costco and the $60 would be it. We opted against that option because it didn't make financial sense to pay $60 when that's almost half of what we are paying for 3 days. Willie said that as long as we were back on Tuesday by closing we'd be good with our current rate of $134. We'll we were there at closing only to be surprised by Albert (who checked us in) that we were late and should just keep the car until the following morning. I was shocked and confused. Willie walks out and says the same thing. I explained to Albert (who was barely listening because he had to leave and wasn't being paid to stay past his off time (his words) - oh and had something to do) that I had to talk to Willie (who was with another customer) about it...and this was because he wasn't there when I rented and only Willie could attest to what was said. Willie walked out to do a walk around with his customer, I asked Albert if we can get the manager on the phone. He told me again he had to leave and Willie would have to do it. I said you can't just get him on the phone so I can speak to him he said no. In walks Willie and he must have said why am I still here to Albert because then Albert explained that I'm contesting the additional day rental fee based on our conversation on Saturday. I waited while the two of them continue to talk about my situation as though we (my son and I) weren't there. They made ZERO eye contact with me talked like I was an annoying friend not a customer of Avis. After this exchange Albert pulled out his cell phone calls the owner/manager Shah and proceeds to tell him about the scenario...but not before walking into an office where I could not hear. He walked out and said Shah said to close it. I again asked if I could speak with him and he said no. He printed my receipt with the additional fee and left...I was floored! I told him I'd be making a formal complaint with Avis and he was like do what you have too. I walk out and Willie and I finally have a conversation he says "I'm thorough with my words and would have told you that you had to return the car at 9:30am vs before closing or you'd pay for the additional day". I said to him that's absolutely not what he said because it doesn't make sense that if I didn't want to pay the $60 on Sat why I wouldn't just return it in the am to avoid that. He said yes you did say that but I'm not sure and there must have been a miscommunication. I said well you need to call your manager and tell him that. He called the manager to say " I'm calling about the customer Albert spoke to you about...then he responded okay and thanks." Literally they was it. He never explained that there was a miscommunication and just said he said the charge still stands. I was livid and said you didn't even tell him anything about the miscommunication. I walked away flabbergasted by the lack of care, service, and accountability. As I mentioned I'm a Preferred Avis member which means I rent from them frequently and quite honestly always. Avis is my go to for rental and I refer all my friends and family. Definitely not anymore and very disappointed. read more

My husband called 4 days before picking up our requested vehicle to make sure we could rent a SUV that had all wheel drive. The person on the phone ensured him that it wouldn't be a problem. We showed up today to pick up the vehicle and they did not have the one we requested. They sent us to the Avis in Lancaster off of 10th street west stating that they had one available for us to rent. We showed up and they had a SUV but it was not all wheel drive. This company has got it priorities in the wrong place when it comes to customer service. The could of at least called us to let us know they didn't have a vehicle that matched what we needed. I rent from this location because it's recommended by my company and it's close to my office and home. I continue to have problems every time I rent or return to this location. The cars are dirty, gas it's marked full when it's not, long wait for pick up or return, and the owner is rude. I'm asking the company to look for another provider who is more customer orientated and provides more expedited service. This used to be the best place in town a few years ago....what happen. I just expect the same level of service from my local rental provider that I receive at all the other Avis locations I visit while traveling. This was my first time renting from this location and it was very different from their competition, specifically Hertz or Enterprise. This location lacks the professionalism of other rental car agencies. The lobby was dirty with handwritten signs on the wall. The staff were polite and courteous but dressed in shorts, t-shirt, jeans, and hoodies. There were several people in line with a long wait because only one person was working the computer. I began to get concerns because at least 2 - 3 people in line were returning the car due to mechanical issues. My rental was not dirty, but not really clean.
