I reserved a pickup to go explore part of the desert while I'm in town for a work event. I get a text message the night before, after the local office is closed, that they won't have the vehicle I reserved. They said I would have to be put on a wait-list. I called the number they gave me, but the people there weren't from the local office and couldn't do anything. I texted the number back and asked why the vehicle I reserved wasn't going to be there if I literally made a specific reservation through the Enterprise website. They just said that I was on a wait-list for the vehicle I reserved, and that they could put me on a wait-list for another vehicle if that worked for me. I said no, that didn't work. Since I made a reservation, I expected to show up at the time of my reservation and receive a vehicle comparable or better than what I reserved. They just said I was on a wait-list and that there were no other comparable vehicles. I reserved a pickup truck, and I can work with any kind of truck or SUV with good ground clearance. I don't even need 4 wheel drive. But apparently, making a reservation only gets you on a wait-list at this location. Why is renting a car in Lancaster so complicated? I make a reservation beforehand, I show up, I pay, and I get what I reserved. I don't think that's an unreasonable expectation. What's the point of taking the reservation if you can't provide that vehicle, or even any other comparable vehicle? Edit: I followed the link Enterprise gave in the response to my review. It took me to a chat bot that I was eventually able to get to put me in touch with a real person. This was their response: "Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I can assure you; we have every intention of fulfilling all reservations we make. In this case, we were unable to and are deeply sorry for the inconvenience and frustration this caused. I have documented your concerns and forwarded to the branch for coaching purposes to avoid future occurrence such as this. Please know, your feedback is important, and we hope to have the opportunity to earn your trust again in the future. I sent the escalation over to the district and regional manager to look into the inventory to find you something." So, I'm on a wait-list for the car I reserved and the district regional manager, but still no car. I went into the enterprise location at the time of my reservation just to see. They said that there were no vehicles AT ALL that I could take, that the wait-list I was on had TWENTY people on it. So they took reservations for 20 people without actually having cars available for them. I asked if they could provide an estimate on how long the wait might be, and they said they couldn't answer that. Vehicles rented for insurance purposes might hey returned today, but there is no guarantee the type of vehicle or the time of day. read more

The vehicle itself was a 10/10 and drove great. My only disappointment was the communication regarding the courtesy ride service. I had requested a ride back to my destination, but there was no mention that transportation is only available within a 5-mile radius. I only found this out after providing my location to the staff member who was assigned to drop me off, as we were both walking to the vehicle. This policy should be communicated upfront to customers who request transportation so expectations are clear from the beginning. While waiting for my ride, I also overheard other customers requesting the courtesy ride service, and this question regarding their destination or the 5-mile radius limitation was not being asked. Consistent communication of this policy would help prevent confusion and improve the customer experience. Additionally, the vehicle was provided with only 100 miles of range at the start of my trip. For customers planning longer trips, it would be much more convenient if vehicles were fully charged or fueled before pickup. This would help avoid delays and make the rental experience smoother. Overall, the vehicle was excellent, but clearer communication regarding transportation policies and better vehicle preparation would greatly improve the rental experience. read more

Updating my review from 1 star to 3 years based on my recent interactions at this Enterprise. 1. The reason for the low rating is primarily due to my frustration with their inability to pick up their phone calls. I will attach a photo of all my unanswered calls. It's quite ridiculous when you just want to call and ask a quick question. The first time, I called at 8:03am and someone picked up immediately just to put me on hold so they can "get to a computer" but then never came back. The call dropped and it was nearly impossible to get anyone else back on the phone. There should always be someone to focus on the calls and at least ANSWER and explain the hold up! I placed a rental through Statefarm but they never called me to confirm. I had to reach someone to get anything done. 2. My overall 3 rating is thankfully due to my experience with Ana Sotelo. After the frustrations with the phone calls, I did not have high hopes for this location. However, when I did arrive Ana was professional, friendly, quick to help, and also closed me out. She made everything effortless and is the reason I would come back here. Unreliable and Disappointing Service - Twice Burned I would not recommend this Enterprise location, particularly the Lancaster branch. They have proven to be completely unreliable when it comes to honoring reservations--even those made well in advance. I reserved a 15-passenger van three weeks prior to my pickup date and even confirmed availability a few days before. Yet, just one day before my scheduled pickup, I was informed that they could no longer accommodate my reservation. I was given vague explanations and conflicting information, which felt more like excuses than solutions. Unfortunately, this wasn't my first poor experience with this location. A prior reservation also fell through without proper notice or accountability. It's clear to me that this branch cannot be trusted to follow through on commitments, and the communication from staff has been misleading at best. I've given them more than one chance, but after repeated failures, I will no longer consider Enterprise a dependable rental option. So getting the car was great, the lady working there was friendlier than anyone had experienced in a while and the kid washing cars was great also. But when returning the car, this lady(pictured) Storms up to me, and says "Yeah, what are you doing?" To which I answered "I'm returning a car" She Gets super aggressive and says "a car has to be returned the exact same way you got it. I really didn't understand what that meant, so I looked at the car to see if there was any scratches or dents, and there wasn't. So I said"what are you talking about? It is exactly as I got it. So I fucking went off, of course, and I called corporate and I lost my mind in the store then she wouldn't give me the receipt if I didn't give her the keys for the mileage, so I turned the car on and I said give me the receipt and you'll get the keys. She wouldn't look at the car, acting like a child. Finally, a dude came up gave me the receipt. I gave him the keys. I got out of there and I told them "I've never been to a fucking place where I had to wash the car before I returned it. I am a disabled senior. I have PTSD frfom a domestic violence incident that nearly killed me. I will be disabled for life with this inflicttion, unfortunately. I had a very good experience with this location initially; I was very grateful to be able to rent a car with a debit card three prior times; I only had to show them a urility bill with the same address as the one on my debit card, which I did, no problem. Until today. I made a reservation on my phone and was picked up and brought to the location by their convenient pickup service. I showed them my utility bill, like last time, but this time, I was asked to open it and show it to them. I did, no problem. But then I was told they could not rent to me because I have an outstanding balance on the bill. I have outstanding balances on all of my utility bills because I had Covid-19 for a few months back in March and I am making payments on those bills now that I am back at work. Why is it a problem now but not the other three times I rented, Enterprise? Why didn't you properly inform me of your debit card policy those other three times I successfully rented a car from you? The most distressing thing of all of this is, I rented the car to take my cat 55 miles over to Los Angeles to be treated for a life-threatening constipation blockage. Pookie is my registered comfort cat. He has done more to help heal me than any human. Today he was scheduled to have the final surery that would save his life, but now that is not going to happen because Enterprise denied my rental because of an outstanding utility bill. This would have been much more easy to take if I had been told this from the get-go, but I wasn't. If I had been told from the get-go, how could I have rented a car on three previous occasions??? On top of this, when I became angry and distraught and said a few well-deserved choice words to the customer service rep in the parking lot who was checking me in and denied me the rental, he tok a hard line and told me I could never rent from them again. The rental experience was not the customer service I normally received upon renting a car from enterprise. The employees are pushed to hurry as if you are in some type of a drive through. They want you to rent and sign for a car before it is clean, washed and ready to go. Your mileage and gas is marked prior to taking possession of the car. I disagree with this being forced on me. Rent from this location frequently because it's the closest to where I live. They have canceled my reservation several times and they are so rude about it. Basically they call you and if you do or don't answer their message is always the same, we are all sold out of vehicles for the entire week/weekend and your reservation is canceled. I'm giving a poor review because their branches have language posted all over their walls about "exceptional" customer service being the aim, but when I called here to express concern about a surprise charge of $150 upon returning it in to a local, different location I was told "Yeah, that'll be $150." and then they hung up the phone. I live in LA and had major car breakdown near the Lancaster location on a Saturday visit to the area, so I needed rental car for the week and planned on driving it back the following weekend. It didn't occur to me until days later I could bring it back to an LA area branch which of course is far more convenient. When signing out the car with my LA address and in subsequent phone calls where I discussed returning it to the LA area there was never any mention of a $150 "one way" charge for returning it elsewhere. So when I got to my local neighborhood store I had to compel them to call this branch and ask for it to be waived due to the lack of communicating about the fee. I had been told their records said "Brian" had put the fee on there, so when I asked for him and expressed how I was looking for it to be waived, I got dude's monotone answer and a hang up click. Consider taking your business elsewhere, or if you work with them, point out their customer service propaganda on the walls and be persistent about taking care of their customers to help ensure return business. Worst Enterprise I've been been to, and I travel a lot. The place was packed and only one employee was service us for checkin (who was apparently the manager). Once they got to me they asked a series of unnecessary questions including who my employer is. Mind you this was a rental car for an insurance claim. After refusing this information the manager refused to rent to me. As a professional in the travel industry and as a veteran, I expect more from Enterprise. The place was filthy, tram was unprofessional - latin music blaring in the background. As a veteran I usually chose Enterprise, but after this occurrence wow. I have rented from this location, twice now. I have nothing but high praise for the staff here. Last week I rented a compact car to drive to Utah for a business conference. When I got there, I was told that I would be upgraded to a slightly bigger car, no extra charges, due to there were no compacts available. Stephen (not sure if it's spelled correctly), was very professional and helpful. He explained everything to me, even though I've rented from Enterprise for years. Unapologetic about any issues that arise, the man was very blasé about anyone who couldn't get a car for whatever reason--why should he care when he has a line and they don't need the business. Customer beware: you need two forms of utility bills in your name or a credit card, although I couldn't find this policy on their app or website, and all the signs were clearly computer printed with no letterhead... I'm actually surprised by the poor reviews, but perhaps those are from the weekends or the situations that brought them there were unpleasant to begin with. I've had excellent experiences over the last month, but mainly went on weekdays before many are off work and the Friday before Christmas for a drop-off. I forgot they offered free pick-up/drop-off if you're local and that helped save me so much money! I've always been helped pretty quickly and have had pretty good experiences with the cars (SUVs). All the employees have been so friendly and I loved chatting with them when they give me rides to and from home! I personally haven't had problems with calling either. Someone has always picked up and having used enterprise for probably a decade, this has been one of my favorite locations so far! My main reasons for 4 stars are the amount of gas in the tanks being pretty low when received, one of my SUVs had a busted gas door so I needed to pry it open with my fingernails to get gas (I don't think it was reported or recorded in their system to let me know), one of the cars smelled of cigarettes that they probably couldn't fully get out of the fabric, and the car selection before the holidays wasn't exactly what I needed, but got the job done. Service was still excellent every time and I felt taken care of! I really think 50% of the experience is the state of mind you're going there in the first place for. I was in a pretty peaceful state, calm, and in a good mood and I feel like it was matched all around me! As a former retail associate and manager, I definitely know I wanted to give even better service to people when they were kind! Rented a vehicle from enterprise, had to return it due to mechanical issues. Got tht one swapped out w another vehicle well guess wat.......mechanical issues AGAIN! So I'm out of town the car i was driving had literally no oil at all in it, barely made it up a hill. I brought to this location to swap it out, staff extremely rude, basically told us oh well nothing they can do. Send us over to another one near by to be told same thing. So they pull it in the wash rack and I see them airing the tires and than a road scholar boxes it on where when I was told 15 min and it turned into 45 min where I had to say something to get my rental out an slow and behold on the freeway the tire got low and started shaking!
