Great experience renting here from this Budget. I was in a pinch and needed a car same day while my truck was in the shop, and Budget came through with a Mazda CX5 for the week. My only complaint was they had one guy working the front desk while there was a line of people in the morning. But register on the app ahead of time and get all your paperwork done and when you're at the desk, you can be done and out in 10-15 mins. Luckily, there was no line when I went to pick up and I was out in 3-5 minutes. Something I found interesting that has never happened in the history of me renting cars: they offered me a choice-Corolla or Camaro.I went with the Corolla. Not to mention, they are opened on Sundays!! Meaning you don't have to keep it the whole weekend. Who does that outside of airports-not asking you Turo. They're located within the Murrieta Spectrum, a pretty big plaza. However, no real designated place for their fleet. Not to worry because it seems you can leave the car anywhere when returning. Well, anywhere on their section of the plaza. Returns can take awhile-but they don't have to. Mostly if you want a receipt or some type of paperwork. Very old school here. read more

Get your rental and be prepared to wait. I booked an 8 AM pick up and walked out an hour late. I get there 8 am store is closed and already a line. The girl opening who works there was 15 minutes late on top of that there was already a line of four customers. When it's finally my turn They tell me I still have to wait car is not ready , In that case why have to pick up times? I don't understand how I have a pick up time at 8 AM and I'm walking out at 9:05. Returning the car was much more easy the pick up not so much. The gentleman at the front desk was helpful. However, budget outsources their phone calls. This makes it difficult to ask for any clarifications. Apart from that, I didn't even get a call back till a day later which was a day late. Lastly, the outsourced calls go to a foreign country which creates a language barrier and makes it even more difficult to get any sort of understanding. I spoke to a "Mark" and "Porsche" who I'd bet weren't blessed with those names at birth. I do not recommend as there are better options to choose from! read more

I made my AVIS rental reservation through Costco's travel service for a Friday morning pick up @1000 hours. I needed that time so I could pack up the vehicle and then drive up to the Bay Area for my Dad's Saturday morning funeral. I received a pleasant voicemail from an Avis staff member who advised me the my pickup time was bumped up to Noon instead. I'm fully aware of how this pandemic has created a fleet vehicle shortage nationwide so I just had to wait and try to make up time on the road. When I arrived around 1200 for my rental, I was surprised and happy to hear that Avis had upgraded my vehicle due to the delayed pickup time. I returned the vehicle on Monday morning. I wish Avis had a better system or some type of automated vehicle return system like other rental companies do. Staff were very pleasant and efficient for both my pick up and drop off. read more

The laziest group of people working here at 10:50 a.m. Stephanie & "Angel"/Lisa. I had a reservation for 11:00 a.m. through Costco and was told that they didn't have a car ready that was clean until 11:30 a.m. or 12 pm the latest due to Stephanie having to eat her food first before honoring a car reservation. Stephanie said I could get a car for my 11:00 reservation time, but it would be "as is", in other words used up and dirty, unprocessed and I'd be paying the same price since she stated they cannot even give me a discount for the inconvenience. If I wanted one I would have to call corporate and ask, however I feel that the representatives should be the ones to do that since they are the reason the car is not ready for my reservation time. I rent vehicles in town for business through Enterprise or Avis all the time, but I thought I'd try a Budget and I see why I never got around to working with such an incompetent company or at least the representatives(Stephanie & Angel) demonstrate it to be so. I cancelled my reservation due to this experience in dealing with their representatives(Stephanie & Angel) lack of customer service and adhering to my rental reservation. I used a better competitor down the street that is very accommodating and always makes sure the vehicles are clean upon receiving them as rentals. read more

Online advertise price for a rental was 164.95 for three days. We paid 69.00 for insurance. The charged us 383.01 stating the rest was a deposit that would be returned on 7-10 days. Got dropped off at 7:20am to find out they didnt open until 8am (thanks google), so I waited outside until they opened. I checked in at Murrieta Avis to retrieve rental and had to wait 30min at 11am to get vehicle because no one was at establishment. There was a sign on locked door stating "will be back in 30min". When rep showed up they attempted to upgrade to a sports car which was filthy and disgusting. I immediately returned the sports car. I was then given a crossover and I settled with it because I needed to get on with my day. The crossover appears to be over cleaned with an extreme odor of cigarettes. EXTREME: I have to drive with the window down. People I met today ask why I smell like cigarettes. I have never met a rental company with such unprofessionalism and disregard for customers health. The rep at the building was unapologetic and wanted me out of the office as fast as possible. I don't know what I will do tomorrow. I will have to drive the car and then change my clothes from the awful smell. Worst of all I have a fear that I will be held responsible for the this smell when I return the vehicle. When I called the 800-number I was told that I could rent a car with an upgrade and have GPS. I was also told that I would not have to fill the car up as they would do it for me and not charge more than the current price of gasoline. When I showed up at the ticket counter, there was no GPS. By the way, the office was very hard to find as there was a tiny sign in the window and I literally drove by it three times. My "upgrade," was a Nissan that ran as though it had never been serviced in the last five years. It also did not have a GPS. It also was not compatible with my iPhone as I tried to link it up and get directions to San Diego airport. When I returned the car and complained to the woman working that the car drove terribly, that it had no GPS, and now I have to find the nearest gas station to fill it up when I was told I did not have to, she simply said I am sorry. "These cars run a little bit clunky". If, in 1 million years, this company wanted to keep me as a customer, someone who rents cars several times a month, they lost. read more

Had to rent and drive 900 miles. The car was very dirty. Dust all over interior dash; Seats and inside doors had dried ice cream or some sort of food; stereo touch screen was so greasy with greasy fingerprints I did not want to touch it; Alert pop up that windshield washer fluid was empty; I checked the display on the car for tire pressure and the passenger front tire was way lower than than the others. The inside windshield was dirty. The place was packed and they had one person doing his best at the counter and they were getting ready to close and I had to get going so I cleaned it myself and added air to the tire etc. Before I left, when I got home my wife noticed that there were dents all over the front and rock pits in the windows. There was no walk through when I picked up the car as I was just given the keys. I was also told that the gas tank was full. Although the gauge looked full, I ended up putting 4 gallons in the tank at the gas station near the rental car place. I will never use Budget again. I am beyond upset with this company. I did a rental through their online service only to find out 30 minutes before pick up that there was nothing available. However my card was already charged and I had to call them and wait for over 15 minutes in HOLD with four different transfers to get my refund, which takes 3-4 business days!!! This is ridiculous, their prices are not even competitive enough and the only reason I used them was because the enterprise closer to me was all booked. I received a call the night before I was to pick the car up stating they did not have a car for 8 AM, only noon, which did not work for me since I was leaving on a trip with the family at 8 AM. So, they found me a car over an hour away instead of 20 minutes to Murrietta in Fullerton. Next problem: Went to pick the car up but the manager stated he did not know i was coming until he walked into the door and the car was at the car wash and would be 2 hours. Really!!! He told me a family had 3 days, so I said give it to me dirty. Well, seems they went to the beach sand on the seat floor everywhere. Old Grapes under the seat. Rented a car for m-f and paid $376!. When I went to the store to get the car the employee told me they give discounts for AAA. The employee even had to call a manager and get the AAA code to apply my discount. Ok cool no problem. On the receipt the discount wasn't applied. I asked said employee about this and was told "don't worry it's In the computer...ok cool...figured I'd get it upon the return. I go in today to return the car and was greeted by another emploee...she told me that rates are set in stone when you pay online and a discount could not be applied after the fact. ( yea I know bs). 1. My confirmation was for a mid size car, when I arrived they didn't have any, so they gave me a Hyundai elantra. The girl at the counter acted gave me some BS excuse and said I don't know why the system keeps letting that happen. 2. The car was in desperate need of an alignment, it shook when going over 40 mph on the freeway and smelled like cigarette smoke. 3. They charged me $18 extra apparently for the tank not being full. I got to the place at 530 and they were closed despite being assured by the company I can pick it up before 6pm. I called the 800 #, wasted 30 mins being transferred, only to have my call dropped. Called again asted another 30 mins and experienced the worst customer service. I was being treated like i was trying to get something for free which is not the case. I expect the services I reserved and will only pay for what I asked for. Nothing more nothing less. Jennifer is a SAVIOR!!! My brother and I had gone through what seemed like a nightmare trying to get a rental car when we arrived at LAX. Our reservations were cancelled, there were not enough cars...the list goes on. We came to this location and Jennifer helped us out with no questions asked and even stayed beyond closing time. She was so friendly and accommodating and even gave us pointers on how to get cheaper rates. Jennifer you are the best! You truly made our trip worth it! We cannot thank you enough.
