I had no idea it would be so busy inside and outside of the avis budget rentals location at the airport. As i seen the lines are long at both the counter and booth it made me realize that im renting from a very popular demanding company who must have alot of loyal returning customers. Everyone outside was in good moods hanging out while waiting for our van. The booth clerks were steadily trying to assist as fast as they could. Still smiling and laughing and was happy. I felt super comfortable at this time that I'm getting great customer service. They even offered me a bottle water when I asked about the eta for my van. Very eager to help very fast and efficient even tho the wait. I like the feeling of knowing im being cared about when it comes down to if im happy with the vehicle, offering any other additional service of help in any way, and always being checked on. Ill definitely rent at this location again. The clerks names that were helping me were Tebby and Christina. Both of them show that they like their job and care about their customers. read more

This was a completely unacceptable car rental experience. When we arrived to pick up the vehicle, the car was not ready, and we were left waiting outside in the heat for more than half an hour. After that delay, we were told our original vehicle still had not been cleaned. At that point, we were offered another car--not because the process was handled well, but because the location had failed to have our reserved vehicle ready. The replacement vehicle was in unacceptable condition. It reeked of cigarette smoke so strongly that the odor got into our clothes throughout the week and never went away. There was also an empty milk bottle left in the back seat from a previous customer. That is not a small oversight. It shows the vehicle was not properly cleaned, inspected, or prepared before being handed to another renter. This did not appear to be an isolated incident. The family in front of us also rejected their first vehicle because it smelled like smoke, and they were left waiting as well. That suggests a larger problem with this location's standards for vehicle readiness and cleanliness. The staff involved in the pickup process showed little urgency, accountability, or communication. We were left standing around without clear updates, without a meaningful explanation, and without any indication that anyone was taking responsibility for the situation. The return process was even more concerning. I clearly explained that I needed the rental charged to a different card than the one used for the reservation. We were told initially when we first showed up that this would not be an issue. The agent took the new card, swiped it, and handed us a printed receipt. When I got home, I noticed that the receipt was for an entirely different customer, in a different amount, and showed the new card as the payment method on that other customer's transaction. That is a serious billing and privacy issue, not a harmless clerical error. Between the excessive wait, the lack of communication, the smoke-filled and poorly cleaned vehicle, and the alarming receipt/payment issue at return, this location failed at the most basic parts of the rental process. The only exception was Jim at the airport front desk, who was pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately, one helpful employee does not make up for an overall experience that was disorganized, unsanitary, and unacceptable. I would strongly advise others to avoid this location unless major improvements are made in vehicle preparation, cleanliness, customer service, and payment handling. read more

Recently had to travel urgently due to a family emergency. I rented a car from Budget through Priceline for 591.00 for the dates June 10th through the 21st. Fortunately, things worked out for my family and I drop the car off several days early (flew out on one way tickets because I did not know how long I was needed). Because I dropped the car off early (4 days early) Budget charged me a higher daily rate, versus the one that was agreed on through Priceline (though they now had the car back to rent to someone else). I also paid for the prepaid gas, but they charged me full gas prices which amounted to around 150.00 for 6 days and only drove the car about 80 miles. Ridiculous! Since I picked up the "deal car" at Budget, it's not Priceline's fault. I'm sure these minor details were added to the small print in the agreement. Nothing I can do, just suck it up buttercup to the tune of 400.00. Caution to those travelers who have to travel urgently. read more

I had an issue with one of your employees (a tall Black male; I did not catch his name). He was very rude during our interaction. I politely explained that the vehicle provided was not the one I prepaid for, and instead of assisting me, he began closing the window while I was still speaking and shut it in my face. I had prepaid for a specific vehicle and was given a different one without any notice or explanation. When I tried to address the situation, it escalated unnecessarily, and the interaction became unprofessional. I rented a Kia K4 2025 sedan Everything was fine except the windows were not washed before I receive the car so they had all the sea salt on them. And I had to buy a gallon container of windshield wash because the windshield wash was dry on the car. So all in all the car ran fine and it was easy coming and going but I expect rental companies to do a good job cleaning up the car and making sure it's serviced before I jump into it. Thanks, Jeff PS. I called Customer service budget to get money back for spending five dollars on windshield washer fluid. They insisted I go through a 45 minute process of taking a picture of a five dollar receipt. And the set otherwise they couldn't give me even $10 for my trouble. Shady practices, unprofessional, incompetent and idiotic staff. - STAY AWAY. Returned a rental car on 6/29 @ 12:10PM. No staff to meet the car, was told to leave the keys in the car by a staff membered named JERRY and the returned would be processed. Reviewing the receipt, the car was not processed by JERRY until the following morning 6/30 @ 8AM. As such I was charged an additional day on my rental, including a late fee. Had to call Budget Customer Support and am still awaiting a refund. Will dispute with my credit card if no resolution. read more

I am so disappointed in this company. I flew into Pensacola, Florida this past Monday. I had a pick-up truck reserved while I was going to be in town for a week and a half. Once I had gotten up to the counter they pulled up my reservation on their computer. I went to pay for it with my ATM debit card which could also be used as a credit card. I was told I could not use my card to rent the vehicle. They then sent me over to the Hertz counter and I was told the same line. I left my computer in the car and called them about 20 mins once we realized it but were already through security at the airport and boarding. I filled out the lost and found report immediately and spoke to someone at Budget. I was told it would take 72hrs before I would hear anything! No one would allow me to speak to someone at the PNS airport Budget. It's been 24hrs and still no response. I cannot get a direct person on the phone from Pensacola's location. No one is willing to help us! It's been very disappointing and upsetting. We will never use this company ever again, no matter where we travel now. Horrible experience with Jacob at the desk. Before I get there I have to say that Budget is a dishonest company. Before I reserved the car and paid it full I asked costumer service about AW/4W car. I was told that all Elite cars are AW/4W. I called the Pensacola number on my reservation 2 days ago to confirm and I was told that well most of them but not all are AW/4W. so I requested to make a note on my reservation about my request. So who was telling the truth? I arrived to the Airport location desk and Jacob was nasty and condescending. He said he can give me a Minivan. I refused. I told him that I waited either the car I paid for or a refund. He kept yelling at me so I told him we need security here until my husband arrives so I would have a witness. Few minutes later Jacob said he had a car for me "you want it or not?!!) still yelling. When I said yes he said he would not give any car to me! My husband arrived and we left without a car. We will have to fight this and we will. Jacob was out of line and violated my civil and costumer rights and made me feel unsafe. Don't trust Budget! Dishonest, unfair business practice. No problem, as I handed my card to pay the deposit I was told I couldn't rent the truck because of my credit. Wait, I prepaid, was able to pay the deposit, have my own insurance but still elected to get theirs and they cancelled my reservation. The prepayment wasn't being held until pickup, budget took my money at time of reservations, now I have to wait 10 days to get my money back because they refused rental. Never rent from Budget!!! Budget rental rented a car with pre-existing damage to me. I didn't notice it until I left the facility. I returned immediately to report the damage and request another car. The representative told me there were no other cars available but assured me that the damage was already noted (there were markings and tape on the car in the area of damages so this seemed reasonable) and that I would not be held liable for the pre-existing damage. I had to get to a pressing business meeting so I kept the car. Six months later, I was contacted by Budget's claims department advising me that I was responsible for the damage. I disputed the claim and explained the situation with the pre-existing damage. Budget claimed that they had no record of the pre-existing damage and contacted my insurance company (without my authorization) to process a claim. It appears that Budget was not able to collect from the renter(s) that actually caused the damage so they (months later) decided to attempt to collect from me. In my opinion, Budget engages in fraudulent and unethical business practices. I will never rent from Budget again and highly recommend anyone reading this to NEVER RENT FROM BUDGET!!!! read more

We had a reserved car for 5pm. We were 20 min late to pick up, but Budget had our flight info so they were aware. We waited in line inside to be told to go outside where we waited for over an hour. They are over-reserving cars, understaffed, and the experience is horrible. I'm thankful it wasn't hot outside while we waited for our car in humid Florida. I don't take time to write reviews often, but this experience warrants a review. During these difficult times when companies are having to minimally staff in order to stay alive, @Pam Jackson and a gentleman named Harrison (sorry, not sure if it's first or last name) were dealing with a huge crowd of renters after an incoming flight from Dallas. Even though it took some time to get our vehicles, they were transparent with their customer, gave updates and handled impatient customers with care and respect (even when some of the customers didn't reciprocate). Also a special thanks to @Albert Mint in CS. After we returned home, we were receiving toll receipts for the bridge into Pensacola. The toll is $1 which is usually paid in cash. Due to Covid, the bridge was unattended. We started receiving Budget toll receipts for the $1 pus a $5.95 service charge. When we emailed customer service about these charge that were rolling in (we had to cross that bridge many times during our stay), we were immediately refunded the service charge for all tolls. Two lessons: 1. It pays to be patient, especially during these difficult times. 2. Take a breath, realize that there are limitations during Covid and do not be abusive to service workers when it's apparent that they are trying to do the best they can with the given situation. I called the 800 number the agent who answered was rude and short tempered with me. I ignored his attitude because I needed to rent a vehicle to go home from Alabama to Arkansas. I asked him before even getting started if the accepted pre paid cards he said yes absolutely no problem, we proceeded through the application. At the end he asked for my card number I gave it to him, he asked me the bank the card was associated with, I told him Cashapp. He said no the bank getting more rude with me. At this time I'm getting upset with him because of his attitude, I couldn't remember the bank affiliated with CashApp so I told him I didn't know. He told me my reservation was made and to m make my payment at the counter, I asked for a reservation number but he hung up on me. I would do no stars if I could! The older guy we delt with when trying to trade out our 15 passenger van with NO AC. We drove 9 hours with 4 babies to the beach. 8 people and a lot of babies stuff. He gave us a 7 passenger van and practically told us to get lost. We drove down with 8 people how was we supposed to drive around with them? The situation did get heated and he said "that he would put us and our babies back into a van with no ac" as nice and understanding and was able to get us a 12p or 15 p to get us back home that would have been fine... The manager gets a 5 star for helping us get our issue resolved that should have been taken care of the first day we called instead of having to sit around at the house whole day waiting on the 7p to be picked up then told the "15p/12p" wouldnt be delivered for at least 8 hours.... read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I purchased a Budget Rental Car as part of a Package Deal with American Airlines. When I arrived at PNS Airport, first I had difficulty even finding where the Rental Car Companies were located. No signage until you're literally right in front of them. Approached the Budget counter, which is shared with Avis to add to the confusion. They wouldn't accept my Prepaid Voucher & offered no Customer Service of any kind. After an exhausting 3 hours of running in circles, exhausted & hungry, my elderly mother & I left empty handed without a rental. And, they pushed the blame onto American & told me to contact them for a refund. What an absolute nightmare, that cut into time I could've spent with my son graduating from Navy A School. We had to get a Taxi to our AirBnB & have had to use Uber for the entirety of our stay. I will probably never even attempt to rent a car again. Save yourself the hassle & just use Taxi or Uber services. They're everywhere in Pensacola. read more

We have never encountered such rude agents than those at the Budget counter in Pensacola airport. Our interaction lasted from about 10 AM until 4 PM before we were able to actually acquire a vehicle. We wanted to rent a car for another family member traveling from Colorado to the beach so I reviewed the requirements online before our party arrived. Online it made it clear that we could pay for the car and add another driver as long as that driver was 25+ and had a valid driver's license. When our family arrived, they were told that those requirements are for SOME locations but not that airport. They would ALSO need a credit card. Had we known this we would have definitely used another service. The counter staff were extremely rude to both our family who arrived that morning and to us once we got there to pay with OUR credit card later in the afternoon. We met all the requirements online to add another driver, but were told by staff to go down the road 5 miles and we could accomplish that there. I hope someone will talk to the two women who worked that day and if you are associated with Avis, you may want to reign in the male working that counter as well. Once we got the vehicle, it looked as if it had been wrecked and had bad dents in several places. We, of course, took photos since we weren't sure the Budget employees at the parking lot noted those. The entire experience with Budget was one we will make sure never happens again because we will NEVER rent from them again. There are too many other choices available. read more

When i arrive with a rental car issue about my tires, they directed me to go to the car repair shop myself while 3 representatives in the office did not even budge or offer to bring me to the car repair shop. If you plan on renting a car make sure you deal with someone competent. Me and my family traveled from California to rent a passenger van that was reserved. We called two weeks prior and two days prior to traveling make sure the vehicle could be rented with a debit card. We confirmed on multiple occasions with the staff that a debit card can be used. Well don't believe them after arriving to pick up the van, not only were we told there isn't a passenger van that we reserved but weren't even compensated for our time that was wasted.They tried to charge us for the van an also charge us for a second vehicle. We were however informed to make sure we read the website for better information and communication. For a family that has traveled all day to get a chance to enjoy the time we are spending in pensacola to celebrate the life of a family member that's has moved on to the other side. We were planning the trip of a lifetime taking my elderly parents to see family in Mobile. Reserved a luxury SUV nearly 4 months prior to arrival. We specifically requested a certain class of vehicle due to my parents age and need for a little more room. Paid for rental in advance, got confirmation and thought all was good. Arrived in Pensacola on time and tried to get our rental. The class of SUV we had previously reserved (and fully paid for IN ADVANCE) was sold out. Nothing available. WTF. Guy at the desk just shrugged his shoulders. He could get us into a compact mini-van or a Jeep Wrangler if we waited about 30 minutes. I reminded him of our specific confirmed reservation for a luxury SUV, but he said that the mini van or Jeep was all he had. We needed a vehicle and the mini van was too small, so we opted for the Jeep. At least it was a 4-door. Went to the garage and were met by a decent fellow who showed us our Jeep. Was a nice new grey Laredo model (the more luxurious model) so we got it loaded and helped my parents into the tiny back seat. Vehicle wouldn't start. "key fob not recognized" (push button start). Went back to the garage clerk and tried to get the correct fob. He apologized and said he gave us the wrong Jeep and provided us keys to a different one. This jeep was a plain-Jane black Sport model. I asked if we could just use the Grey one since it was already loaded with our luggage and elderly passengers? No. Reserved for someone else. Now I am seriously pissed and can see NUMEROUS Budget rental luxury SUVs coming and going from the garage. We unload from the nice Jeep and load into the crappy one and finally head to Mobile. We contact Budget about our problems and we're given a canned email response twice about how they can't guarantee a specific make and model. Thanks Captain Obvious, we know that. We weren't after a specific model, only a specific Class of rental that we reserved and paid for in advance. It's not like we just showed up asking for what was left, they knew we were coming. After nearly a week of back and forth, they graciously permitted us to keep the Jeep for a couple of extra days. Uh, we had a previously scheduled flight out... So, instead they reluctantly refunded $80 back on our RENTAL. We drop it off tonight, can't wait to see what they screw up then. Stay tuned... We will be back to Pensacola sometime, but will NEVER rent from Budget again. read more
