I had a few different companies come out and assess what was going on with our home/basement. We wanted a new sump pump put in and a basement door floor drain. Ultimately I went with BudgetDry based on the solid Reviews and total cost. - No consideration or analysis was given as to where the sump pump discharge line should actually go. Right now, it is going about 20 feet straight out to our backyard (where it slopes back down towards the house/foundation), and all the water just pumps up on top of the yard slowly coming back towards our hatchway door/foundation. The discharge line does not properly slope enough so it's constantly full & water keeps spewing out of the freeze relief pipe when it goes off, which is right next to the foundation. Water is also leaking out through the connection points where the freeze relief pipe is, right next to the foundation. The sump pump has been running every couple minutes for ~3 weeks now, because it's just recycling all the water it is pumping out. It is also a complete swamp in our backyard around where all the water is discharging. - Their website says they have water flow specialists and exterior drainage solutions, etc. - https://budgetdry.com/waterproofing/exterior-drainage/ - When I addressed my concerns of these discharge/drainage issues, their only solution was to consult a landscaping company to regrade our yard. Can't the discharge line be re-piped out further in a different direction, or better yet, re-piped so it goes out to the side of our house where it actually slopes down away from our house? Wish this was originally brought up as a potential issue... I now have to pay more money to have these issues fixed... - The cementing job for the door floor drain and pump is awful and cement bits were left all over the floor when done. (see pics in review) - When the additional backup pump was installed, luckily I quickly noticed there was a leak coming from the pressure release valve. I was able to call them in time for the technician to come back and fix it. I appreciate that, & get that 'these things can happen', but shouldn't it be fully checked to ensure there are no leaks anywhere before you leave? Anyways, overall it was just a disappointing & frustrating experience and wish I had spent my thousands of dollars with a different company that would have done things right and with better quality. I bought a Advance 90 Santa Fe Dehumidifier with install on 6/25/21. I was told and given paper work stating there was a 6 year unconditional Warranty. On 5/15/24 I called to get a tech visit because the unit had failed. On 5/24/24 the tech after 5 minutes confirmed it failed and took the unit to his truck. He then came back in and told me "shipping" for repair was $475 and $35 a week for a loaner and the repair would take 10 to 12 weeks. I told him that was ridiculous and told him to leave. He then implied there was a fee for his 5 minute visit and I told him I was not signing anything. He then returned later in the day to try and get my wife to sign (which she did not) and his boss Christopher Conti called and also emailed. I have blocked their phone and emails going forward. This intimidation and harassment is unacceptable. Also there so called warranty is a scam. read more

The crew that came in to do the waterproofing was friendly and professional. I have not had any problems with water in my basement since they were here. They also found a few other issues I had with my HW heater leaking and another leak nearby. They protected my floor and did their best to contain the cement dust using protective sheeting. They cleaned up the broken clay pipe they replaced as well as the protective sheeting. they even swept the floor on the main level. The tech who installed the insulation and new dehumidifier in the basement was also friendly and professional. He also clean up afterwards. However, there are a couple of spots where he did not put insulation and I do have some threads of insulation hanging off the ceiling where it needs to be pushed farther up into the beams. I did not notice these things until a few days after he left. All in all, I recommend them. Just make sure to thoroughly check the work and make sure you are happy with it. read more

After taking measurements and detailing what needed to be done, he said he couldn't give me an estimate immediately and would email me it within an hour. Its now been several days and no word from this company about an estimate. We dealt with Marc. His demeanor was condescending and borderline inappropriate. When asked about the possibility of exchanging a unit we had for less than 24 hours, he crassly compared it to selling used panties. They also charged for services they did not complete. Recently hired budget dry for basement job and I would give 4 stars for their timely work completion and clean up. Joe was great! One thing to note: They are extremely aggressive regarding payments. I provided More than 50% payment/deposit made a couple months in advance to secure a spot on their project schedule. Job had not been fully completed as of last week and was called to make final payment (which I was not comfortable doing until job was finished). The job was completed yesterday morning, and by evening had already received email, phone calls and texts asking for final payment. I'm happy to sign for and provide final payment (and since have) however feel their approach for payment collection is a bit much. read more

I agree with the other reviewers. I would give them no stars if I could. Mark -- the manager? -- very insincere and not nice at all. Besides waterproofing, they installed new windows in my basement. Little did I know they left a 3" gap the width of the window to the outside. The dropped ceiling covered it up until I had an electrician in the house and he pulled down one of the ceiling panels. When I called Budget Dry, Mark responded and came to the house. I told him the rooms directly above this window (master bath) had been so cold, I had to buy a small heater. His response: it wouldn't be that cold! So for several winters, I used more heating fuel, more electricity, etc. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! read more

Summary: Budget Dry incorrectly assessed the cause of water in my basement, identifying it as due to exterior water recommended a $9,257.50 interior French drain system be installed, required a $3,086 deposit several months before work was scheduled. During that time the actual cause was identified: a major interior plumbing leak. This could have been found by any reasonable inspection of visible exposed pipes. I requested a return of my deposit, due to incorrect assessment and no need for the work. In spite of the fact that only a sales call resulting in an error made by them, no work needed, they refuse to return the deposit. Details: In May, Marc Weinstein came out to assess water in my basement, which had appeared for the first time this spring. He diagnosed hydrostatic water seepage. Budget Dry scheduled demolition for an interior French drain system for the end of July, more than 2 months later. I did not recall him actually looking outside or doing anything particular to evaluate his diagnosis. He did not inspect the interior plumbing or he would have easily found the broken water system flushing outlet, which was the actual cause. I discussed this with him by phone after I discovered that the water was from a plumbing leak. This has been repaired, and once fixed, the water leakage completely stopped.. At that time, by phone, they refused to return the deposit. This is in spite of the fact that, as I reported when he first came and then on the phone that this house has had a dry basement for 42 years, and the water began abruptly, always about a half inch overnight, was intermittent , with days in between, and was not related to weather, recent rain, or wetness of the yard. It would happen even with completely dry weather. I also informed them that I had consulted with the Madison town engineer about whether any recent changes could have had an impact on ground water. His report was that it did not. As I pointed out, obviously, since I don't have a leaking or flooding basement, there is no need for a French drain/sump pump system to be installed at this time. A French drain and sump pump will have no impact on water from interior plumbing leaks. Given the error in assessment, I asked that my deposit of $3,086.00 be returned. He replied that he was "not convinced that that was the whole problem." Their website presents them as experts in assessment, "whatever the cause." They clearly did not do an adequate assessment, and refuse to take responsibility for this I only asked for my money back - I have not asked for money to replace and repair drywall that has become moldy after the months between their incorrect assessement and when they would have begun major unnecessary demolition. A correct assessment would not have resulted in business for them, but would have saved me considerable time and further expense. I sent a letter to Messrs. Marc and Jason Weinstein dated July 9 and never heard back from them until I called their company Friday August 18, 2018. Mr. Jason Weinstein sent me an email the next day re-iterating his position of not returning my deposit. read more

The repair was done in a timly fashion and the job was performed during a rainstorm in one day start to finish! The crew that came out did an amazing job, and best of all our basement is bone dry! We now sleep easy during rain storms with no fear of basement flooding. As a matter of fact we often look forward rain storms just to hear the pump turn on and watch the water exit our property. I would not recommend this company to my friends or family. We had them come out and came up with a plan for some moisture issues in our basement and our bilco door/hatchway that has issues with standing water. They came out and the sales person was very nice explained our options and sent over the information we needed. We decided to replace 5 basement windows and have a professional dehumidifier installed. When they came to install they were asked if they knew where everything went and said yes they had the plans. Well they installed the dehumidifier in the worst possible location so that it was draining right next to the bilco door that has issues with collecting standing water. Almost all of the windows were not level and the work was sloppy. They did not clean up after their work and left insulation and trash in the yard. They came back and moved the dehumidifier and used my freezer chest instead of a ladder to get work done. It was covered in boot marks and a full grown man should not be standing on it. One window was replaced again because of how crooked it was installed the first time. I am happy with the dehumidifier but very unhappy with the rushed sloppy work by the contractor. I only give 2 stars because everyone who works there was very nice but otherwise I would not use them again. read more

Just had an initial consult to try and get a price quote. The guy was rude, condescending, and impatient. He flat out said to me he "doesn't get excited about small jobs..." and then left without even measuring or writing a quote. He seemed offended that I needed to make lunch for my three small kids while he was here?!? It was crazy. The guy literally left without even giving me his price despite me asking several times to just "bid for me what his company could provide to accomplish my goal". He clearly didn't want the work. Just AWFUL customer service. EDITED to add. I reviewed them in Facebook as well and they responded within minutes. They didn't apologize for a misunderstanding or even attempt to be professional or kind. They gave me a snarky comeback justifying the rude behavior. Their response was finished by the line.... "we CHOSE not to give you a price because some people aren't FIT to be Budget Dry customers" What kind of company calls a potential customer "unfit" without even giving them a proper bid. The owner's posted comments on my review of the work the company did at my mother's house is full of misleading information and lies. First, the company did change the date of the work from March 20 to March 16; it was initially clearly set for March 20. Second, the owner's comment that the company does not aim to please "every member of the family" makes it sound as though I was just another member of the family, while in fact I was the sole member of the family who negotiated the transaction with Budget's sales person. While my mother signed the contract, she asked me to negotiate it as she did not want to risk being taken advantage of. My mother did not call Budget Dry Wall to compliment them on the work, as her hearing has precluded her from using the telephone for some time. She also could not have seen the basement because she has been unable to go down into her basement for years; she never saw what Budget did to her basement and I did not want to tell her because it would have upset her. In any event, the claim that she told Budget that they had done a good job is another lie. Finally, the owner calls my threatening to expose his business' shoddy practices on Yelp as "blackmail." The whole purpose of reviews on Yelp is to share information, including information on bad companies, with other consumers. I did tell him I would expose his company on Yelp, and that is what I have done. No blackmail involved at all. Bad work, owner who lies and takes advantage of a 92 year old woman--beware! read more

Called them at noon and answering service said they would contact company and someone would get back to us. No one did. Had a $7,000 basement system installed earlier this summer. First rainstorm after the system was installed, a flood in the basement similar to the ones that always happened before system went in. Someone came out to fix it. Another rainstorm, another flood. Another tech out to "fix" it. This latest fix was the 4th time someone came out to my house to "repair" the system, took them three weeks to get someone out to the house and THE VRY NEXT DAY it rains and another flood in the basement. I had a large basement leak and after installing one french drain the water appeared on the other side of the room. Geoff came over immediately to diagnose the problem and recommend a second french drain. The second drain was not initially installed as planned but Geoff quickly rectified the issue. I can't say anything about their product or their service. I called them to get an estimate and set up an appointment time for a building that I manage for an owner that is out of state. On the day of the appointment for the estimate, I was told that they needed to sit down with the owner of the building for an hour at least or they wouldn't give me an estimate. I told them that the owner is out of state and that wouldn't be possible, but if they give us an estimate in writing then I will go over it with the owner along with bids that we will receive from other companies that I have coming to give us an estimate as well. As soon as they heard that we were going to have other companies come and give estimates and we wouldn't be saying yes to them that day, the service person actually refused to come and look at the basement or give us an estimate. read more

Some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. We had the annual maintenance on our sump pump they installed, whereby the technician indicated that the pump needed discharge drainage farther from the home and said he would call us back with a plan for that service; he never called us so I called Budget Dry myself, who said that they would get back to us and never did. When I attempted in another follow up call to discuss this with the manager, the "onsite manager" (manager was on vacation) defensively spoke over me and interrupted me numerous times before he even heard my account of what happened and what I was requesting, told me that the technician never told us this because it wasn't documented in the note, told me I was lying about previously calling them to follow up because he claims my phone call wasn't on their computerized record, and then pretended he couldn't hear me with a poor connection and hung up on me. Wow. All I wanted was some assurance that if I got the annual maintenance with them again this year, that they would follow up on their plan to extend the discharge pump. Could have easily been solved in a polite two minute conversation. But now I'll take my services elsewhere. read more

He explained everything that was going on and helped me understand all my options. He gave me a very fair price on a new installation, but also helped me to understand other options that I could try myself prior to investing in his installation. I opted to try his recommendations myself and have had no more water in my basement for the past 5 months. I still may consider his installation in the future because it seems foolproof, but now that I am in the clear I think I will wait. Let me start by saying I didn't use Budget Dry to mitigate my basement water problem. The reason is they discovered the issue and saved me many thousands of dollars before I spent it with a much larger company who failed to recognize the root cause. A project manager named Bob came to the house after we had received an estimate from another larger company and just needed piece of mind from a 2nd opinion. He gave the basement an efficient look and then he/we discovered a tube extending out of the furnace spewing water. It was not hydrostatic water coming from the ground under the foundation. It was a simple fix. Both Bob and Jason the owner were knowledgeable and efficient-taking 75% less time than a competitor to gauge the issue and look for the "real" root of the problem. Hopefully I will not need a basement waterproofer again. However, if I do this company will be on speed dial! read more

The good..the service guy Geoff was fantastic. No complaints. Here is the issue. They said my dehumidifier would be installed last Friday. Now they are telling me it will be three weeks in total. Now I understand there is a problem with some other company, but here is the big problem. This company thinks that by calling me and letting me know about the issue that I should be grateful. I was getting yelled at by a manager and told in no uncertain terms that it is too bad. Then when I said I'll try a different company that can deliver on their promise I was told I couldn't get my deposit back. Meanwhile mold is in my basement and my property is being destroyed. 100 dollar discount for "inconvenience". I'll have more than that in damages most likely. Thanks a lot, I'm truly inconvenienced. Completely dismissive of the fact that I paid for a service and they are not delivering. We will see how and when the install goes, but at this point I'd not recommend them. read more
