We hired Firehouse for a huge project of building a stone retaining wall, then back-filling inside the wall to bring our hillside lot much closer to level, then installing a BOB privacy fence mounted in the stone, and a custom-designed and fabricated sliding driveway gate, at our home in Hillcrest Shores. Their design and workmanship is excellent, they use top shelf materials, and, thanks in part, I'm sure, to getting on their calendar early in the season, the work was completed in a very timely manner, with no appreciable delays caused by anything but the weather. We got three estimates for the project, and for the first time in our lives, gave the job to the HIGHEST bidder. That is because, in addition to admiring their work elsewhere around Rockwall, owner Zach Simons is the sole point of contact for the estimate process on the entire project. His competitors were like, "Yeah, we can estimate the wood today, then we'll send a stone guy next week, and a gate-design guy the week after that." (Slight exaggeration there.) We were much more comfortable working with a single source for the whole project. Yes, Firehouse charges a premium, but we got what we paid for. Highly recommended. read more

We were building a pool and wanted a privacy fence built and the rod iron fence we had taken down. I asked for some Referrals on our local moms fb page and of course received 10+ names. We had 5 companies come out for bids and after looking at all of their work and reading reviews, we decided to go with Firehouse Fence. Zach was prompt to our first appt and was understanding and flexible on the unknown timeline for installation because of the pool and construction. Once we finally got the okay to proceed with our fence, Zach had us on the schedule within the week. We went with board on board with two 4 & 1/2ft wide gates and a fence surrounding our pool equipment. His guys were efficient, courteous & professional and our fence is beautiful! Quality iron fence, guys showed up on time, and the owner Zach is very responsive and communicative.

My husband and I met with about 4 companies, getting quotes, reviewing quality, and options, before choosing Firehouse Fencing. How I found them, was quite funny. After being frustrated with the process, I saw their number on their truck, and gave Zach a call when he was stuck in traffic in front of me. I sure am glad I made that call! FHF was not the cheapest, but their quality was exceptional! The only other company that came close to using product, and processes as high in quality as Zach and his crew, was quoting nearly $4,000 more!!!! (The guys who quoted cheaper, were not making me feel very confident in the process... many red flags) Zach answered my calls and texts promptly throughout the whole process, and he was very patient. (It took a few months from our initial call, before we pulled the trigger on the project). We live on a 1/2 acre lot, with frequent high winds, so we went with the following: Board on board cedar with trim in front, for lovely curb appeal. 8' Side by Side cedar for approx. 60' Transitioned with a stair-step effect to a 6' in the last two sections (adding approx. 20') For the remainder of the property, we ran wrought iron 4' fencing. Note: When we first moved into the neighborhood, and saw people transitioning from wood to chain link fencing, we thought it looked like they ran out of money half way through the project! lol!! Actually, transitioning helps with the high winds, while keeping privacy closer to the house. I have posted several pictures, if my description is not clear. A few notes on quality: First off, they BURIED those post! Holy Cow! I thought they were digging holes to China, so I was happy from the start! They also staggered the rails, to further strengthen the fence. We had rain on and off for some time, so Zach told me the process could take up to a week. Fortunately, that was not at all the case. The weather agreed, and they we done installing the fence by end of day 3!!! The crew was very nice, and cleaned up after themselves. Our property line also runs right against our driveway, so our boat was within a few feet of the work. The crew did not leave so much as a scratch, and the staining crew put a tarp over it. Work started on Monday, completed by EOD Wednesday, and weather permitted for staining on Saturday. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND FIREHOUSE FENCING!!!! A special thanks to Zach, and all his crew, especially Mike, who had to walk off the property line for some grumpy neighbors, and spent extra time making sure everything was perfect. To play devil's advocate... If I could change anything, I would have probably asked about the gate hardware, as I would have probably chosen differently. Also note: I could have gotten some of the pretty scrolls on the front gates, but it's not our style, so we left it pretty plain. However, they had some beautiful options, for those of you who would like a little something extra, and it was offered at no extra charge. Zack will blatantly ignore you once he has your money... the workmanship be damned! He mocked the previous fence because it was so poorly done but it stood well and the gate was functional 5 years later... this one is nearly on its last leg 13 months after the build. read more

Normally just let things go and hardly ever review online, but couldn't on this one as these services are not cheap. Let me start by saying these are nice guys, but this was just bad business and customer service.... They Incorrectly measured the project, then wanted to stick us with the additional $2400 bill. Insisted this has never happened before, online review says otherwise. Owner would not even give us a call, and sales guy would only text. I am a reasonable person, but they made a huge mistake on this one and were trying to insist that the customer eat it. Bad communication throughout the whole process. I went with them because they were Firefighter owned. They offered to just charge us for the additional fence materials installed and the labor to put it in at and additional $1200. This would still cost me $1200 more and leave me without a finished product. Told them to come pull it out, that's not what we agreed to. Subcontractors who installed, and uninstalled the part they were trying to charge us extra for, were great and did quality work. That's the only reason i would give this company a star at all. TIP, if you use them measure the project yourself, and make them measure TWICE. Then have them sign the estimate saying they measured it twice and will not bill you more if they are wrong. read more

This yelp review is in regards to Zach's lack of character and integrity. If you are having a fence placed in a new construction, I would recommend that if you communicate with Zach via email or text ALWAYS include the builder. IF you have a conversation with Zach, I strongly encourage to make it a three -way phone call with Zach, the builder, and yourself. It has been my experience that Zach will tell each person something differently. I suspect he's trying to keep the builder "happy" so he will continue to give his name/company referrals and keep the money flowing, while throwing the PAYING customer under the bus with bold face lies. Lies, lies, and more lies! This guy can't tell the truth. He has had over a year to finish the job at our house and is still not even close to being done. We finally had to get someone else to finish. When they deliver things to install they don't take caution not to ding it all up. We have dings in so many fence posts and a door that have to get fixed. Not to mention his prices are ridiculous! I would say really look into who your dealing with. I have used Firehouse Fence for 4 different fence jobs--one wooden, two iron, and one chain link--and each fence has turned out great. Quality materials, exceptional workmanship, and professional service. Except for one job which I requested at the height of one of their busiest times, every fence was completed within two weeks of contacting Zach. The one job that was done later I was willing to wait on because I knew I was going to get a quality fence--Zach was very up front about the time it would take to get to the job and he was willing to go to the Tyler area to put up the fence for me. On two of the jobs, the cost was exactly what was bid; another job came in under bid. The E. Texas job cost a little more because the lot was full of trees, and I had done the measurements without regard to the tree placement. It took more fencing than anticipated to go around the trees that could not be removed, but the fence was so well done and so well placed that it blended right into the environment--which made the HOA very happy. I have never had any trouble getting in touch with Zach; he kept me up to date on when each job would be started and when it would be done. I have never felt like it was an imposition to email or text him at any time with questions or changes; he always responds promptly and is very accommodating. And he has always asked if I was happy with the fence before he asked for the final payment. Zach has been nothing but a professional. We live on a road that has a business at the end of it (two construction businesses actually). Frequently, the workers at these places come down the road at alarming speeds. At 5:15am, one guy missed the curve and slammed into our fence that Zach and his crew did a year ago. We had asked Zach to build a fence that could withstand the impact of a car and protect our livestock , house, and ultimately our little boys. From past experience with cars in our yard from the road, we made it clear to Zach that we had to have a good fence. Fast forward a year later, and a car going 40mph slams into the fence taking a direct hit. As you can see from the photos, the fence did it's job! It withstood the impact of the car and kept all livestock in and our home safe. Had we not had this fence, the trajectory of the car would have landed it directly in our children's bedroom. I texted Zach a photo of the damage. Within a week..... the fence was restored. He didn't just replace the damaged poles. He and his crew checked the fence on each side of the damaged area and determined the best approach to replace and repair the fence so that it would be like the impact never happened. I can't say enough good things about this company. They are honest, fair, prompt, courteous and just good people to work with. No integrity! We got a quote at our neighbors recommendation. After a closer look it wasn't detailed and didn't look correct. I chose to get three others. He was very upset and took it personal. We chose someone else (all other bids were significantly less $6.8k, $6.8k, $7.3k versus his $7.9k). Our neighbor did used Zach and we agreed to pay for half of the fence splitting our properties. They are happy with his work. Zach gave usa quote that included netting so the dog couldn't go through. He did not add it. I took down my first review after he reimbursed us. After the fence was installed i realized he changed where the fence would line up with our home. That changed the footage by almost $200. It now has our septic and tankless water heater outside of the fence :(. We paid for it, didn't get it. He took it very personal that we didn't go with him. His quotes $/foot was less than everyone else but his overall price higher because he adds more feet. Not honest. Don't trust him. I had to post a negative review to get him to reply before. I no longer care about the $. It's not much. Our portion is just $100. I care that he's not honest. I'm posting this to encourage others to get multiple quotes and check his footage before making a final decision. read more

We are very happy with our new Firehouse Fence. Zach was a pleasure to work with and his crew did a great job.

Very professional team that came and installed 10 panels of 8 ft tall sections. Old posts were pulled out of ground and new posts installed. In addition they carved tightly around an electric panel slab (closed up a hole my dogs would crawl through) and corrected a corner connection with another repaired fence. Basically they solved all the problems they encountered on the job and now I've got a very nice section of my fence replaced. Project took a full day to complete but results look great! Looking forward to hiring them for some additional work on gate replacement. read more

I met Mike and Zach upon purchase of our new home. Both Mike and Zach said they build "awesome fences." I believed them and wondered what awesome would look like.
