First off, I want to say, this has been my worst day in a motel ever. This is only motel in allegan, and these people feel the need to be extra rude, extra nosy, and just irritating. When we got to the room to check-in. My boss had not made it here yet. And they, he wouldn't even let us come in the lobby to get warm. I am giving this hotel 4 stars because it is exactly what it says it is. Our room is very clean, even though the decor is dated. Our room and bathroom are good sized and, did I say, it's CLEAN! For the free breakfast, the offerings aren't plentiful, but there was fresh fruit, regular sized yogurt, and organic milk, along with an assortment of hostess breakfast sweets, and toaster waffles. My family stayed at this location on August 10, 2024-11, 2024. The initial room rented smelled like sewage. When my husband complained, we were given a different room, at an increased price. As well as the horrific smell in the original room, the locks on the doors were very cheap, the furniture was ancient, the tub had a huge ring in it, and so on. When hotel was overpriced. This should be your last choice while traveling. The continental breakfast consisted of ego waffles, 2 kinds of fruit, yogurt, milk bagels, bread, and other small danishes. We sent close to $160 for a hotel whose pool was out of order and I did not see a steam room anywhere. Talk about false advertising!!! read more

Outdated and a little overpriced, but I'm not mad at it and I'll tell you why. Allegan, Michigan seems a small town with little of interest. Not much reason to come here. A wedding brought me to the town, lack of accomodations brought me to this motel. The lobby has a must smell, accessed by a doorbell which may or may not be attended for quick service. The woman, assumed owner, was friendly and got me through the check in process easily. She's happy to provide details regarding accommodation, local taxi, and checked me in an hour early. I was placed in the large building. Very outdated 90s decor in room, a toilet that'll wake the dead when you flush, but clean. I didn't notice questionable stains which are often found at chain hotels. I felt safe and not disgusting after having spent a night here. Breakfast is included! Coffee, fruit, some baked goods, and packaged foods. Everything seemed to be familiar name brand, which is surprising for a small establishment. I was satisfied. So, to sum it up. It you're a snooty person, stay somewhere else. If you want the basics and to support a local run place, stay here. I'd stay again. read more

Rooms were pleasantly clean and fresh after stopping in the office. Things were kept up well. The breakfast was decent, and wouldn't mind staying here again. was surprised at the price, we stayed two nights in Chicago for the same price as one night here. Do not stay here! This hotel is infested with black mold and who knows what else. I was employed to work there for $10 hour and lasted 4 before I became ill. My duties for the shift were laundry and to clean 1 room and it was all supervised. There was mold in the mini fridge, and a blind eye was turned. Fleas in the carpets and who knows what else. Holes in the floors in the utility rooms in the older buildings that lead to the rooms so vermin have a straight path to your room! I feel that 3 stars is more than generous for this establishment. We stayed here because my husband's company put them up here. This is a very out - dated motel there are older and newer sections. We stayed in the "newer" area. Still out- dated, the rooms have older carpets and a very musty smell that runs throughout the entire motel when you enter. Once you turn your air on in the room the smell isn't so bad but coming out of your room it's not the most inviting smell. Breakfast consisted of small donuts and muffins and coffee. They should not be advertising WiFi in the rooms. We stayed on the second floor and there was little to no connection. No elevator, if you have trouble with stairs you need to make sure you reserve a room downstairs. Security for the motel is the locked door to your room. The front door has no key card nor does the side door to the new building. Anyone can come and go. There are cameras but not 100% sure how those are monitored. There is cable in the rooms and the room we had did have a microwave and a refrigerator. I am not sure if all the rooms have this. Lighting is poor in the pool area. There is a workout room and a steam room. The workout room is small 3 machines there. A treadmill, weight machine and arm press. No tv's in this area. This would not be my choice to stay at. read more

Booked here because it was close to a wedding we were attending and website said they had a pool. They did accommodate our early checkin request the room was clean but very out dated. The pool was completely closed signed said due to governors order which I believe is no longer in effect either way that should have been disclosed that before booking or on their website as a pool is a driving factor for staying with kids. read more

We have stayed twice at this hotel. The owner/operators are very friendly and accomodating. Since my husband is from Allegan we have only stayed in the original part of the hotel, which is cozy and comfortable. It is very close to the Village Inn for a good restaurant, and right on the M222 for easy navigating in and around Allegan. read more

For the price this hotel is not worth it. I paid 100 for a night. For this price the rooms are very outdated. I had a king size room, the tv in it is probably no bigger than 15 inch could hardly see from the bed. Bedding is like something from 70s . Bathroom has a free standing sink and no counter at all so no place to do make up or to place your toothbrush. I had a choice upon arrival for new part of hotel or old part, I picked new, which makes me wonder how the old part looks. The only thing going for this place is that it is clean and that there are no other hotels in the area. I feel that for the price that we pay this place should be updated. read more

No wifi in half of the rooms. You get connectivity only if you close to the lobby. The owner said if you connect it's good, if not, you can come to the lobby with your computer. So don't advertise that you have wifi in the rooms! For breakfast there are frozen sweet buns only. Could be better. The price for this kind of service is little on the high end. If we knew what we would get for the price we would find something better. Sorry, we won't be back. read more

We stayed at the Budget Host Inn for two nights with our dog. I understand that there are certain rooms reserved,my, for people with animals, but for $95.00 per night, the room at this was not worth $50.00.The minute we opened the door the smell overtook us. It was awful. The room was so outdated, dark and very depressed. The tv was outdated, the clock on the night stand looked to be from the 1940's and didn't work. We had no choice but to stay here. We were visiting my brother who is terminally ill and this was the only place in town, and they accepted dogs. We just stayed the night before in a beautiful room with our little dog for $87.00 per night in Iowa. Needless to say, we would never consider this hotel again. read more

BED BUGS!! I was so very disappointed with my stay in this hotel. First impression was that it was outdated and needed some TLC. The second thing I noticed was sting bugs...we discovered a few within the first hour we were there. There was no WiFi, an extremely old alarm clock, and a teeny tiny tv. To top it all off...I woke up with red itchy bites ALL OVER ME!! I didn't even sleep underneath the blankets/sheets because I was so grossed out by the stink bugs. The day after our stay, I notified the hotel of my bites. The woman I spoke with said "oh my god, we have to check that out! Goodbye" and that was it! The person in our party who booked the room called back and requested they reimburse her for the room as well as the doctor bill-as I needed a prescription for the itching- and exterminator bills for our home. All the woman did was apologize and say "we didn't know," no reimbursement was guaranteed, nor was any concern expressed. Needless to say, I will NEVER being staying in this hotel again or recommending it to ANYONE! Terrible rooms and equally bad customer service. read more
