Joe was the one who are usually there, we have been renting because it's convenient. We filled up the gas tank like a good customer, however, this person was sneaky enough to say he needs to charge because the tank is not completely full while the needle is totally pointing there. But he doesn't even want to acknowledge the fact it is point at the full and there is a perception issues here. I was so upset because I was about to ask him for another big truck rental. I made a reservation for the cargo van for move. My sister suggested I try budget because she used them for her move about 6 months ago and it was very clean and easy. Unfortunately only part of that statement was true for me. It was easy to reserve the cargo van online, but the van was very dirty. I understand some parts of the van can be a little dirty but this was ridiculous. Avoid this cargo van: vehicle #231246 if you can. The person that helped me get all the documents situated was friendly. The van was in terrible condition. It had multiple marks on the exterior of the van. It seemed like it has been through man trips. In the back of the van, there were a bunch of Fedex slips left taped on the side. I had to ask the guy doing the check to remove all the excessive trash left in there. When I asked him why it was so dirty, he said, "The cargo van just arrived yesterday and I have not had a chance to check it yet. So I did not have a chance to clean it out". As for the cabin of the van, the dash was sticky and had dirt all over. The glove compartment was full of dirty old papers with dirt which I also had the guy remove prior to leaving. As I drove the van for my move, I noticed all these ants around the vent and dashboard. IT WAS DISGUISTING. I don't understand how a company would even allow this van to be rented to customers in this fashion. The only reason I'm giving it a 1/5 is because the guy helping me was friendly. Don't go here if you need a car! Kia had me use this company and the car they provided me had damage throughout the entire exterior car. I noticed a crack in the windshield once I received the car and they are charging me $400 for something that wasn't my fault. I said I would possibly like to go through my insurance and he said it wasn't a good idea and he would process my case. 3 hours after leaving I was charged with $400. Absolutely ridiculous! We rented a large truck in Springfield Missouri they were great got to California what a bad experience don't even know where to start we felt like we were being held hostage! Finally got to the car rental and found out the price they quoted us was for one day only. Let's see how do we get from LA to Springfield Mo in one day! No problem it will only cost us $2,200. I had a very smooth experience having a rental car 2 days ago! Kia dealer's service advisor made an arrangement for me, so I just had to pack and go. It's very helpful, because I happened to have a jam schedule on Saturday. I appreciate the company transports the customer with a SUV, because I don't like to sit in tight spaces with 3 bags next to my feet lol!! There were couple options of the rental car, and I chose Kia Forte. It was a quick process to check in and out, and the car was very clean! Remember to check the tire tho, because it's not covered by the rental insurance ($15 a days plus something else for $24 total). One of my tire was a bit low, so just to be safe I added air at a gas station. Budget can add air for you too! Good option if you need a rental car for whatever reason (^^) read more

Recently had to move some of my furnitures from the storage because I didnt want to waste money paying for storage every month. I booked a reservation online with 25% discount for a 12' truck. The next day I was informed that they did not have one available and let me get the cargo van as a substitute which I didnt mind. It's almost the same size but smaller so its easier to drive for me anyway. Used it for a little more than 3 hours with no problem. It was about $80 which isnt too cheap but still cheaper than what I normally had to pay because of the discount AND got my work done in timely manner. Gas was about $20 so $100 total for one day I should say. Overall, everything went smooth with no complaints. I made a reservation here for a truck 24 hours in advance of my pickup time. When I arrived to pick up at this location, I was told by the manager Joe that there were actually NO trucks there, let alone the truck that I had reserved! He told me there were only cargo vans there, but they were reserved and not available for me to use. I asked him how many feet long the cargo vans were, and he rudely told me that I could go out to the parking lot and see for myself. I asked how it could be that I had a reservation with a confirmation email, and yet there were no trucks?!? Joe told me that he had called and left a voicemail the night before; maybe he tried to call but I never received it. And a half-hearted phone attempt in no way excuses this complete lack of follow-through on a confirmed reservation! Tried to rent a car. Picked this place only because the hours were listed as closing at 6PM on expedia and Yelp. Needed that time since I could only pick it up after work. Took an uber to the lot from my house to find out that they close at 4pm on a note on their window. Got there around 415. Tried to cancel the reservation privately through expedia to find out this dealer will follow through charging me. I got charged for a 4 day reservation and 2 uber rides and wasted time and effort with this place. Tough that they do this to people during hard times like this for everyone. I will never rent from budget again. II reserved a truck about 2 weeks before my moving day to be picked up at 8AM the day of the move. Ended up having to work from home until 11:30AM that day, so just wanted to change the pick up time to 12 PM instead. I called corporate's reservation number about a week before the move in day to request it. They asked me to call the the location i'm picking up from. I called and the guy on the other line was very unhelpful, saying it was too early to change the reservation??? And to call back at a closer time. Anyways, long story short, IT TOOK 4 redirected called to FINALLY change my reservation when i called back closer to the date Not only that, but the front desk guy failed to mention to me that there was a 150$ hold on my card, just asked for my license and credit card. I gave him the card thinking he just needed it to keep on file. Rude, you should communicate that especially cause $150 is more than 400% what my rental estimate was. Honestly if it stopped there, i probably wouldnt be so upset. But the 12 foot rental truck they gave me needed serious maintenance. The guy told me not to roll down the passenger window cause its broken. Uhh okay. And then was told that the check tire light is on but not to worry. On top of that, the breaks needed serious replacing! Grinding the rotors as i drove it from the rental place. That is not okay! I know tough times right now, but i definitely felt very unsafe and i'm so disappointed with the service i received. In our case, we're moving, have plenty to do, and when you arrive 20 min from your place, you don't want to hear that the truck isn't available. We did check on miss call. Only one call. no msg left. Again, CC on file. No effort. Worse, he cannot guarantee at the spot or edit the reservation. We are direct to the 1800 number. Like all 1800 this one is the worst of the worst. The agent will not tell you straight up you can or cannot pick up today. They will tell you I will have inventory manager to call you in 20min. I guarantee you their inventory manager doesn't even exist. 20 mins means never. Yesterday, hired mover, called a day off work, but couldn't move. Lucky my lease not up til later day. After reading most of the reviews from others about this Budget Rent a Car Center, I can't help it but to say yes, it could be a hit or a miss. It probably has a lot to do with the front desk associates who takes care of the rentals. I have rented at this Budget a few times already, and their rental prices are quite competitive. Usually the cost is less for a rental if the car is a couple years old. And if it is an insurance claim, there is a special insurance rate. Who knows how they come out with the numbers. But if you shop around, chances is this Budget numbers are competitive. Yes, sometimes the front desk is rude, and other times they could be the nicest people. How weird... it sounds like a Jekyll and Hyde hit or miss... but it's true. haha. All I could say is I never had any issues with anybody there regardless of their attitudes. I only want to rent a car quickly so I could go on with my day. And this has been the case from my experience. Yes, be fair. There are no words to describe the sheer lack of professionalism, unwillingness to take responsibility, and lack of communication that this location and its employees embody. I made a reservation for a truck yesterday by calling the number on here. I was redirected to a national employee who confirmed multiple times that this truck was available for this day and time. I also spoke with two other employees who also confirmed that this was available. I received confirmation through email and read through it last night to ensure that everything was set up. This morning, about forty minutes before our appointment time, and fifteen minutes before we were about to leave, we received a call saying there were no trucks of any kind that we could rent today, and that it was ultimately my fault for "calling the hotline". After I explained that I called this locations number, but was redirected, she continued to not take responsibility for her company's inability to communicate internally. She also offered absolutely no solution to the predicament that she left me in, aside from giving me a customer service number to call. After calling customer service, I was told I was then going to have to potentially wait TWO HOURS to hear back from a representative who could find another truck for me elsewhere. When I finally did hear back, he offered a truck from downtown, about ten miles away from us. We ended up cancelling our reservation and booking with Home Depot. Long story short... I was provided a rental car from here by a dealership because I had to leave my car to be worked on. I didn't have to pay anything except the $50 deposit Incase I came back with any scratches or anything less than a full tank. I did have to fill the gas tank back up to full I spent $8 so overall I spent $58 to have a car for about 2.5 days. (That doesn't include the rental fee since the dealer paid that). The guy that helped me out at the front desk was super friendly and had great customer service! He was also very informative when I asked questions. My only complaint is the car I was given was dinged up and the interior smelled like wet dog. It was a basic Toyota Corolla. Overall I wasn't happy driving that car as I am used to a big SUV so getting into and out of a small sedan was a struggle for 7 month pregnant me hahaha! The dealership that gave me the rental did the return process. So I don't know how that went. I will follow up to make sure the $50 deposit is back in my account. read more

Every time I rent from Budget rent a car - it substandard. There are scratches all over the car- I let the attendant know & to document on a paper & they always say they know, - so ,I it document by taking pictures on your phone. They don't care. Definitely read the fine print carefully! I had a flat tire & I was worried if, I did not use their emergency road side service there would be a liability issue. I have AAA ( should have used them). I waited 4 hrs in the hot sun for their service & the staff on the phone was clueless. I made numerous calls to them without any immediate assistance. Extremely annoying. They can & put the spare donut on & I couldn't drive on the freeway back to where I rented it . Renting from Budget was the worst debacle , as I come to caretaker 2 family members& drive them to their appointments. ( which they missed) . I reserved a truck online to pick up my new sofa. A week later, I called a few days in advance of my reservation to make sure they would have my 10' truck. They said they would. Two days later (9/30/09), I arrived around 9:45am. I let them know I had a reservation and they helped me quickly and efficiently with the paperwork. They didn't pressure me about buying their insurance. I initialed and signed the forms, inspected the truck for damage and was out of the parking lot in about 15 - 20 minutes. I rented the truck online using a coupon, so the rental came out to be $14.99/day and $0.59/mile. I would have gone with Penske because they have a half day rental (only 4 hours), but with LA traffic I wasn't sure I could make all my trips in 4 hours, so I went with Budget. As it turns out, I rented the Budget truck around 10am and returned it just before 2pm the same day, so I could have gone with Penske and saved about $30. Oh well. Thanks to Vince, I made sure I filled the truck up to the top with gas at the Union 76 station next door to the Budget truck rental. No problem for me returning the truck. The checked the mileage, checked the fuel gauge, marked my paperwork as full tank, then I went inside and was out of the office in less than 10 minutes. No hassles and easy return. Mahalo! read more

Got there and Norma tells me I have to give the system some time for them to schedule it? And she added by saying that another customer booked it for 11:30am and that this customer booked it a week ago?!? What kind of a f***ing customer service do you call this? I was so furious. I drove out and called the 800 number right away. Spoke to a useless fellow named Gabriel. Said he was going to escalate it and have a manager call me back between 15 mins to 2 hours?!? WTF! This is a warning to anyone who rents with Budget. This is a review of corporate because this is who you will deal with if you have any issues There will be no help from corporate. They are hard to reach, they do not return phone calls, and rep. who calls and claims to be supervisor can't resolve the issues, and they have the power to put a hold on your credit card. We finally had to hire an attorney. Here is story Rented car with full coverage with 2 drivers so my son (29) could drive the car. Car broke down. Car replacement broke down this time in a parking garage at midnight. They called towing service # on car key and towing wouldn't give a time estimate to pick up car. An hour later garage was closing so they left and took Uber home. ($100.) Next day was told car was towed. Three days later told Budget called, they couldn't find car and it was our responsibility. REMEMBER-we had full coverage that included theft? Couldn't get hold of supervisor, no return phone calls from Budget for days and only after days and many many phone calls, nobody could help and it still isn't resolved. Hold and charges on our credit card. HOURS and hours trying to sort this out. We have a recording of towing company saying they towed the car. We have recording of Budget putting us on three way with towing and being told "Yes. car was towed." Budget said no because they couldn't find the car and we were responsible because my son left the car in the garage. He was with his fiancé in deserted garage at 1 am being told they had to leave by garage security. What was the alternative? We still are being charged for a week rental and there is still a hold on our credit card. 3 weeks later. Any help ideas are welcome. An aside that is aimed at store in TO where we rented: first car had 43,000 miles, dirty, scratched up, and 3/4 of a tank of gas. Broke down. I got a call 2 hours before I was supposed to pick up my truck from someone telling me that they didn't have a truck for me. It was basically "oh well, call customer service". I called customer service and the man I spoke with seemed apologetic and said that I should have been notified a lot earlier. He then proceeded to tell me they would try to locate a truck for me and would be able to call me back within 15 minutes to 2 HOURS from then. We went to pick up the truck and the air con isn't working and they did know it cos they had someone tried to fix it earlier. Really?? You try to give us the truck that have no air con and we are doing Inter state moving? We went back in to the office , he looked at my husband and asked what else can he do after we said we want to cancel. For God sake!!! Cancel our credit card!!! Also we booked the dolly and it's never show up with the truck. Understand that it's not the branch fault but again. Didn't have some sense to tell us first? SO BE AWARE TO CHECK ALL THE DETAILS BEFORE U RENT THE CAR HERE!!!!! Eventually, he cancelled the transaction and didn't give any suggestion just passed us the customer service number to call. Our rental broke down halfway home from NorCal, come to find out Avis/Budget roadside assistance was not available to us because this location is its own separate entity. They pay to use the name Budget, but aside from that, have no affiliations whatsoever with the company. Should have seen the red flags when they tried to rent us vehicles with over 60,000 miles on it (which is unheard of for rentals) and another vehicle they tried to give us needed new tires! Needed to rent a car during Covid, in and out super quick. Asian guy with glasses helping me was nice and practiced social distancing. No problems, no hassle. Had my own insurance so just quickly filled out paperwork and they copied my information before driving off. Just remember to return the car with full gas! I had the most ridiculous experience returning the truck here. I had filled up about a mile and a half before reaching the facility. Upon entering, and inspection, they said the needle was just below the F and that the tank was not full. I was like, oh c'mon, even showing the receipt. Literally filled up not 5 minutes ago. So they said nope, you have to fill up, there is a 76 across the street. If you make us do it it's a 30 dollar service fee. So we start the truck, lo-and-behold the needle is at the F now. Nope not acceptable. So fine, off we go to the 76. Pulled in, put in the credit card. Start pumping. Literally 20 seconds and 41 cents later, it clicks. 41 cents, and it was full. So off we go back across the street and upon producing receipt they finally accepted it as being full. What a waste of time. maybe they need to fix their fuel gauges. Give me a break read more

The lady on the phone said she can't guarantee the truck with a reservation. I was like huh? She then said that they will try to accommodate and send me to another location if they don't have it, but she also can't guarantee the pick up time. I then asked to speak to a manager who proceeded to tell me the same thing and oh--wait for it--tells me there is a 150 holding fee, and that soon as I book If I cancel even weeks in advance I will be charged $50 dollars. Ok. Super insane. I repeated this back to him a couple of times because I've never heard of anything like this. I then called a different the Glendale location where the guy got defensive when I asked what he will do if he can't accommodate the day of move with the truck.
