Watch out for Budget scam! We had rented a Budget car as part of a 3-day vacation package from Costco travel to visit family. I didn't drive much and, except for the fuel use charge of ~$33 (much cheaper if I had refilled prior to return), returned the car in the EXACT condition on time. Budget attendant checked out the car, issued the receipt with the fuel charge and we were set to go ... or so I thought. 2.5 weeks later, I noted a charge on my credit card for $334 which, after contacting Costco travel, was due to "glass/windshield damage" which had to be replaced. This was so bogus because such damage would have been obvious to me, my passenger, and the Budget attendant. I called Budget main number and asked for info on the location of the glass/windshield damage. The agent could not provide any information. She offered a one-time "courtesy refund of 50%" but I am still mad as hell for some BS charge. Perhaps Budget Rental is desperate to bring in extra revenue to survive. Beware customers: since it happened to me, it can happen to anyone who returns their car in the same condition, and still get charged for some bogus scam. read more

I reserved a sub compact car and found that only electric cars were available. After a 1 hour wait, a full size car was available. I went out and started it but a warning light came on. I went back to the counter to tell them and they said there was nothing they could do. Perhaps, take this trashy car out of service until it's ready to rent! When I called customer service, they directed me to a different location, saying there were lots of cars available so I could switch it there. I drove 20 miles to find they had only electric cars too. I called customer service again and was given a case number to switch the car at the original location. I drove 20 miles back to find there were no cars available. I left the lobby to call customer service and 5 minutes later, I had someone find me to tell me cars were suddenly available. Unbelievable! Complete nonsense! I advise NO ONE rent with Avis/Budget if there's a choice. Unfortunately, choices are slim at this small airport. If rental cars weren't mandatory, I can't imagine they'd still be in business. read more

Less than a month later, I was in need of a rental car when no one showed available cars except Budget, perhaps because people steer clear of their ineptness. They seem to upcharge at the end of your rental, hoping you won't notice. The fuel needle obviously showed the tank was full. I also dropped the rental agreement cover in the drop box with the question answered Yes, as to the car being fueled. Plus, there was a big circle around the F in the fuel lettering. Still, they charged for refueling. Either crooks or the Stooges are running Budget. read more

Our flight was delayed and got to the airport extremely late, but the representative was very kind and professional. Upon returning the car, the process went very smooth and did not take a long time. There were previous scratches on the car that were marked, so I was not responsible for them. read more

0 STARS. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. I am currently sitting at the Baton Rouge Metro airport. My confirmation was for 7am, the confirmation also confirmed the desk opened at 7am. We waited until 730am. I called Budget customer service which at that point they told me Thiago was in the lot checking people in all morning (my moms had already gone to the lot to check, no one was there). They told me Thiago was on his way to the desk. Thiago never arrived. At 7:45 Gayle arrrived at the desk and advised me and the people that were waiting the booth doesn't open until 8am. I advised her our confirmations showed 7am. She then proceeded to lecture me that she is scheduled at 8am and she knows our confirmations show 7am and the longer I spoke to her the more delayed our rentals. She then assisted someone dropping a vehicle off before helping any of us that had been waiting for an hour. When she began assisting me she proceeded to bark at me. I asked her why she was barking and she stated she was talking to herself. She continued barking intermittently stating "rude". And then began yelling at me that she would note in her reservation notes how rude I WAS. I was not yelling during this interaction, she was def speaking loud enough and BARKING loud enough for all of the other customers to hear. Every person that was waiting for a car at that point was told we had to continue to wait because there were no CARS AVAILABLE for our CONFIRMED RENTALS. I have never experienced such horrendous customer service in my life. I'm appalled that Avis/Budget hires employees and allows them to treat customers in this way. I've worked in customer service my entire life and have NEVER been treated in such a terrible manner. Gayle advised me her supervisor is Stacy, but it doesn't appear Stacy is here right now. I would use another rental company at this point but there are no cars available to return at another location. We finally received a car at 9am after waiting 2 hours. This delayed the 9 hour drive we have to do today. Will never use Avis/Budget again. Oh yah, did I mention Gayle (Gail? Who knows because she wasn't wearing a name tag) had a shirt that said "Customer care Captain". What a joke. Wonder how the other employees that aren't customer care captains act... read more

Don't waste your time renting through this agency. The first time I rented I had to call them after I noticed the car was damaged as they don't do any sort of damage sign off sheet upon renting. ok perfect, I'll rent through them again. Second time I rented through them I returned the car with a full tank of gas (of course) and then I get a charge on my card for an additional amount. WTH? I call and provide my receipt showing I had just filled the vehicle and so they remove the charge. Ok, figured it was an accident or something. So I rent again. BTW, I am renting every 7 months or so when I come to visit my family. I fill up the car, make sure to get a receipt, and proceed to the airport. I show the attendant my receipt, have her acknowledge the gas is full and get my receipt. All is well right? NO. I now notice an 80 dollar charge on my account and I call and ask them what it's for and they say for FUEL. The guy says he will check the audit logs and get back to me. He in fact calls me back and says they had to put 7.9 gallons of fuel in the car. WHAT?! Unless the attendant went for a joy ride, the fuel pipes burst, or someone siphoned the gas out, it's not even possible! In fact, the charge on my account right before my receipt by Budget when returning the car was my fuel charge. Disputing with my bank and I will never rent from Budget again. read more
