The worst rental car experience I have ever had…read more We were scheduled to pick up two standard SUVs at 6pm after we arrived from our flight. Our flight was slightly delayed and so we did not end up making it over to the rental car counter until about 7pm. Once we made it to the counter, the lady estimated that it would be a twenty minute wait. We waited about 40 minutes and then went up and spoke to her because we started to talk to the people around us who were saying they had also been waiting over an hour on a car. When we talked to the lady at the desk she told us that someone had to go over to the other location to pick up our cars and that they were on the way. Another twenty minutes go by and we wait. We ask her again and she then says that she is unsure if we will be able to get our size of car that we reserved. She asks if we can accept another car. Unfortunately, even with the standard SUVs, it will be a tight squeeze, so we cannot switch. Also, she told us previously that the car was on the way? So this must have been a lie. In addition to the initial lie she told us that it would be 20 minutes until our car arrived (since everyone around us waited at least an hour and a half). Another 25 minutes go by. By this point, everyone in our group is cursing Enterprise's name and saying we will never rent from them again. We ask to talk to a manager. And magic! Somehow, five minutes later, when we go back to the back, the manager has gotten our cars ready and is waving our keys because he knows that he was about to deal with some very angry customers. I would also like to note that when we went to the back, there was a big tray of sushi and about 5 people sitting around, not working. Very confusing because the manager, when explaining why things took so long, told us that they were low staffed. But it just looks like the staff were too busy eating sushi to do their jobs, and the manager was fine with us waiting an hour and a half while he had plenty of staff sitting around. They're conveniently located at the international Airport, which was great for customers traveling with luggage. The staff that assisted us with the vehicle were very professional, but we were a little surprised that our vehicle had some damage upon our pickup. So of course we took photos and videos, so we won't have any issues upon us returning the vehicle in a few days. I've rented cars on multiple occasions during our travels, and this was the first time in the last 10yrs that I never received a receipt after I returned the vehicle. It's now been 10 days since we returned the vehicle on June 1st, and we are still waiting for our receipt to be emailed to us. Our overall experience was good, and we were eventually charged correctly based on our reservations. I'm not sure if this enterprise location is just super busy or if they're under staffed, but we've definitely had better customer service with other companies.

Jobo met us at our hotel at 8 o'clock sharp and from there we spent the entire day seeing the wonders of the nearby mountains. We saw more in one day than I could have managed in three days, all without being rushed at all. It pays to have someone who is intimately familiar with the area as your guide. Although the information on the signage was more than sufficient, Jobo provided additional color regarding each of the stops. Jobo was very friendly, courteous, and it was an absolute pleasure to be in his company. The vehicle was very clean, stocked with ample water, and very well-maintained. I highly recommend ABest Transport and Tour Services Inc, and their "rider driven" philosophy, which Jobo exemplified. The next time that we are on holiday in Calgary, we know who we will contact for a tour.

Although there were long line-ups at some of the other car rental companies, at Enterprise there was no line and we were in and out in a few minutes. They were very well organized and our reservation (through Costco Travel) was fine. From there we walked over to the Enterprise lot to pick up our car. The Enterprise staff member was very helpful and even gave us the Managers card and phone number to call if ever we had any problems. We chose a Volkswagen Tiguan - car was fine but some of the controls were a challenge to figure out. Instructions for car returning were very clear. We brought the car back a few hours early so instead of charging us for a full 4th day the Enterprise staff member only charged us for a couple of hours, without any prompting. We appreciated that. Car returning took about 2 minutes and we were off. Our overall experience with Enterprise at the Calgary airport was a 10/10.

I found this car rental place off of Expedia when I was planning my trip to Alberta, CA. Overall my…read morecar rental experience was outstanding. I got a nice subcompact SUV (2024 Nissan Kicks) that had good fuel efficiency on the highway for roughly less than $35 USD/day. I have almost no complaints except for the fact that getting to this facility requires extra effort. For US travelers, gates 15-16 are typically where you'd arrive from in Calgary airport however the gate to board the bus to Routes is at Gate 7 which is a very long walk. When you arrive at Gate 7 wait for the bus to arrive to board where it's another 10-minute drive to the facility to pick up your car. The entire process from boarding the bus to car retrieval was about 45-50 minutes. You'll need to allow extra time when returning your car as well. The other thing they don't tell you is where to drop the car off when returning. And even those instructions were mixed based on who I was talking to. I was told to return the car to the back of the building while some customers were able to drop off in the front. It was a bit disorganized but aside from that, it was decent service at good value.

Although I prepaid with my credit card and the insurance covers both my spouse and me, staff gave conflicting explanations and insisted on charging an additional driver fee, leaving us no practical choice but to pay. Things only got worse when the first vehicle assigned to us was heavily damaged, with dents, scratches, windshield damage, and a broken wiper. After additional waiting, we were given another vehicle. While there, we saw several other customers dealing with similar maintenance and vehicle quality issues. Poor customer service, inconsistent information, unnecessary fees, and vehicles that should not have been rented out. I filed a complaint with the head office who have also been giving me the run around too. I would not rent from Routes, again.
