The worst rental car experience I have ever had We were scheduled to pick up two standard SUVs at 6pm after we arrived from our flight. Our flight was slightly delayed and so we did not end up making it over to the rental car counter until about 7pm. Once we made it to the counter, the lady estimated that it would be a twenty minute wait. We waited about 40 minutes and then went up and spoke to her because we started to talk to the people around us who were saying they had also been waiting over an hour on a car. When we talked to the lady at the desk she told us that someone had to go over to the other location to pick up our cars and that they were on the way. Another twenty minutes go by and we wait. We ask her again and she then says that she is unsure if we will be able to get our size of car that we reserved. She asks if we can accept another car. Unfortunately, even with the standard SUVs, it will be a tight squeeze, so we cannot switch. Also, she told us previously that the car was on the way? So this must have been a lie. In addition to the initial lie she told us that it would be 20 minutes until our car arrived (since everyone around us waited at least an hour and a half). Another 25 minutes go by. By this point, everyone in our group is cursing Enterprise's name and saying we will never rent from them again. We ask to talk to a manager. And magic! Somehow, five minutes later, when we go back to the back, the manager has gotten our cars ready and is waving our keys because he knows that he was about to deal with some very angry customers. I would also like to note that when we went to the back, there was a big tray of sushi and about 5 people sitting around, not working. Very confusing because the manager, when explaining why things took so long, told us that they were low staffed. But it just looks like the staff were too busy eating sushi to do their jobs, and the manager was fine with us waiting an hour and a half while he had plenty of staff sitting around. Affordability: 5 Location: 5 Reservations: 5 Customer Service: 3 We rented a vehicle from enterprise during our vacation to Calgary last week. They're conveniently located at the international Airport, which was great for customers traveling with luggage. The staff that assisted us with the vehicle were very professional, but we were a little surprised that our vehicle had some damage upon our pickup. So of course we took photos and videos, so we won't have any issues upon us returning the vehicle in a few days. I've rented cars on multiple occasions during our travels, and this was the first time in the last 10yrs that I never received a receipt after I returned the vehicle. It's now been 10 days since we returned the vehicle on June 1st, and we are still waiting for our receipt to be emailed to us. Our overall experience was good, and we were eventually charged correctly based on our reservations. I'm not sure if this enterprise location is just super busy or if they're under staffed, but we've definitely had better customer service with other companies. read more

Hello, I picked up a rental car on Oct 30 from the 626 58 Ave SE location and Ike, Ethan and sorry forgot her name but Oct 30 was her first day, the 3 of them were all great. I was just in a car accident that morning and dealing with my insurance company was a nightmare. We were profoundly disappointed in what truly appears to be an attempt to scam us. We rented a Chevy Malibu from Enterprise Calgary on July 20, 2024. We inspected the car and made note of two dents, one on the door and one on the trunk. We took photos, and the technician made a note on his form. We returned the car on August 2. The technician there used some kind of shield to inspect the car and we pointed out the previous dents. He nodded his head and put the shield away. We asked for a receipt and he offered to email it to us, but we've had trouble getting receipts emailed so we asked for a print copy, which he then provided. He made no further mention of any "damage." A few hours later, after we were already on the plane, we got a garbled voicemail we could not fully understand, indicating something about damage. Then we got an email from the "Branch Manager." The email stated: Hello Ralph, I am sending this email with regards to the rental you dropped off today. Upon inspection we noticed that there was a dent on the trunk of the rental. According to our damage evaluator, which I have attached a photo of, this will be considered damage. I was wondering how you were planning on covering this damage. Are you going to file a claim with your insurance or pay out of pocket? Attached are picture of the damage. If you have any question, please reply to this email. Thank you, Ernest Offei-Annor Branch Manager The photos he sent were glare-y and we were unable to identify any dents on the trunk at all, even the one we already knew about. We wondered why we had an email asking how we were going to pay for the "damage" when there was no mention of how much the repairs would cost. In researching other reviews, I see many reports complaining of the same thing: damage claims hours and sometimes weeks AFTER they have left the rental center. Excellent experience renting from Enterprise a few weeks ago. We initially started our trip with a VW Tiguan that gave us a scary warning about low engine oil and needed to head back to the rental office. The team was more than understanding and accommodating regarding this very scary and unusual situation and had a car ready for us the moment we arrived. Michael, another gentleman (I believe his name was Samir?), and I believe the Branch Manager bent over backwards to address our concerns and made us feel comfortable with our replacement rental. Our second vehicle was very comfortable and served us very well during our trip. At the end of our trip, we received a discount off our booking for the inconvenience we experienced. Given how Michael, Samir (?), and the entire team handled and rectified our situation end-to-end, I would definitely rent from this Enterprise location again. Pro Tip: Going forward, I plan on giving any vehicle I rent a thorough inspection, regardless of the company or city. We checked engine oil level for all of the cars offered to us to ensure we didn't have a repeat problem. Given the volume of cars going through this branch and the conditions these cars are driven through (mountain roads, hail, etc), it seems these cars are put through a lot and some issues may slip through the cracks compared to your average metro rental car. read more

I rented a 2022 Corolla from 129 17 Ave Se Calgary, AB, location. I had never heard of renting an older car. The attendant said the new ones were at the airport. There were many dents and scratches on the car. They were accounted for. The attendant Randy, explained that many dents are caused by hail. The car had fantastic gas mileage and ran very well. Over 2000 kms all the way to Jasper and Drumheller. I would buy it if I could! Only problem was the keyless fob warned that battery was going to die which caused stress. A call to roadside assistance was not helpful and we were told to buy a battery. We were in a remote location. When I reported this on car return the manager took off 10% and then we were given a ride over to the Stampede. Definitely would rent from them again! read more

One patron caused us to wait for 30 minutes and when we asked for somebody else to help us after being held up we were told to continue waiting because I guess the man in the back isn't capable of helping. Do not rent a vehicle from these people. My mid-sized SUV ended up being a little high mileage Mitsubishi RVR that was clearly ready to be retired. As an added bonus, Enterprise tried to charge me for "damage" on the top of the vehicle that was not visible upon inspection and was not caused by me. If you absolutely MUST rent from this (there is no other rental vehicle available in the entire province), ask to be shown your vehicle before leaving the office area. Then, take detailed video of the entire vehicle, including the top, under the hood, and the underside. These people will try to scam you and hit you with unnecessary and inappropriate charges. I'm gobsmacked that what used to be a reputable company like Enterprise allows these scam artists to put the Enterprise name on their Calgary airport junkyard. Extremely disappointed with our experience with Enterprise at the Calgary airport and we've used Enterprise quite a lot prior. At the end of our trip, when we dropped off our car, they used a dent reflector shade to inspect for hailstorm damage since there was hailstorm during our stay. They claimed there was some damage on the roof of the car even though it wasn't visible to the naked eye and charged us a $500 deductible (we waived their insurance). Now the dishonest part I felt was that when we picked up the car, this inspection was not done in front of us so I can they prove that it happened during the time we had the car? We were parked underground during the entire time at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise during the hailstorm and even overnight so we could not have possibly damaged the car. Appears that other reviewers here have experienced the same issues with claims about dents reported by Enterprise at this location. read more

Worse rental car experience I ever had! Made reservations month before and when arrived to enterprise said my discount won't work and have to pay the original price rate so my old price was 350 and went up to 850. First they didn't have the car I wanted but once i agreed to pay the higher price because I had no choice then Suddenly the car they couldn't find at first pop out of nowhere and try to charge me more because it's a suv premium. Worse supervisor name SHIV please don't trust him tried to scam me then didn't want to give me his name till I ask him again then talk to other customers about me and try to act like it was my fault. A pleasant surprise. This Calgary airport Enterprise has friendly staff, streamlined service, and nice cars. We appreciated that not only the counter is in a section attached to the airport itself but also the cars (garage) are right behind that counter! Very convenient. We walked up and found a slow moving line. We used one of their kiosks. After swiping our driver's license and credit card, the kiosk spit out a sheet which we were to bring with us to the garage. We booked a hybrid, and one of the staff members at the "car booth" walked with us through the garage to pick one out (with sun roof!). read more

MAXIMUM DISAPPOINTMENT! Mitsubishi RVR started shuddering violently/engine light on at beginning of holidays. Stopped at a south Calgary Enterprise on the way out - they advised it could be due to "tightening of gas cap" and sent us on our way. Happened again 40 min SW of Okotoks (middle of nowhere w/ nearly no cell reception). Called south Calgary Enterprise location, were told "I'm not having my staff stay a minute past 5" - they suggested we drive to Calgary airport. Asked about Okotoks Enterprise and were told that "they don't know anyone there" and location would be closed at 5 (before we could get there). Were told the airport had a subcompact car which wasn't a solution (as SUV was FULL) so continued on, praying we wouldn't be stranded. Thankfully, we arrived. Vehicle began shaking violently again on way home. Customer Service agent said go to airport as "they have lots of cars there" and tried to quickly end conversation. Said I need him to check inventory/confirm we'd have a vehicle before driving there. After brief hold, he said they had another RVR at airport. When we arrived at airport - they repeatedly said all they had was a Toyota Corolla. My partner spoke with the manager and suddenly there was a Hyundai Venue, which fit all our gear. We transferred our belongings to new vehicle. After driving 30 min, realized we left Parks Canada Family Pass ($145.25) in RVR. Repeatedly tried to call but couldn't reach anyone. Arrived at airport, asked to check previous rental and they asked what we were looking for. We were then told we were "not allowed" to check rental vehicle for park pass. After 20 min, we were shown a picture on a cell phone as "proof" that it was not in vehicle. Those items should go into the Lost and Found to be returned to customers (they have one, per their customer service message). SHAME on the employee(s) who think it's ethical to steal customer possessions. BEWARE - do not leave anything in the vehicle...you won't get it back! We were looking forward to using our park pass all year, as we had only used it for 4 days. What a disappointment to have it stolen from us. We have been Enterprise customers for years - my partner rents frequently for vacation and work from the Yellowhead location in Edmonton and they are very professional - not like the experience in Calgary. A quick internet search revealed an article detailing that the seizure and resale of provincial park passes is common by rental car companies in Calgary. Despite all the issues and disappointment we had, if Enterprise returns our park pass to us, I will delete this review. ***I emailed Enterprise August 14 with the full details of our rental agreement and experience as requested by Chad. We rented a car from this location in June, upon arrival I called to ensure we were able to drop the car off at Vancouver airport, and was told yes just let the front desk know. We arrive in Calgary-go to pick up the car and let them know we're dropping off in Vancouver, only to our surprise we were told no. I told them I spoke to someone who said yes, and she even left a note on my reservation stating so. Still NOPE. So we had to rearrange our ENTIRE second half of our trip, which meant losing out on 3 pre booked AND paid for hotels, also having to add an extra day to our rental. (which was somehow okay even though they're fully booked and that's the reason they aren't doing one ways) We also booked a mid size car, and our receipt said "Toyota Camry/similar" we received a full size Dodge Charger, not even close in size to a Toyota Camry. We made the best of the situation, and carried on with our trip. Second day rolls around, we wake up and head to our next destination. We arrive, and we both received notifications on our phone after being stopped for 5 minutes that we were being tracked by an Apple air tag. I'm sure you can imagine the panic that sets in, after calling Enterprise and being sent to a bunch of different departments nobody could tell us whether or not they track their vehicles. We called the RCMP, as well as a mechanic shop to see if they could find the Air Tag. I was able to ping the tracker, which allowed it to make noise for us to find! The RCMP told us it's likely Enterprise tracking the car, and one of the reps from Enterprise told the officer and us sometimes they do track vehicles. The next day I receive a call from Enterprise in a panic saying "you may have noticed us calling you non stop, we heard what happened and wanted to let you know the manager of the Calgary Airport Enterprise will be in contact". The following day the manager finally called us, and told us "we do not track our vehicles, we respect our customers privacy". So we are in a totally different province than our home, driving around being tracked, AND our trip was ruined to begin with. NOT ONCE were we offered to bring our rental car to another Enterprise location near us, nobody offered to come to us with another car. Absolutely NOTHING was, or has been done. After dropping off the car we spoke to the manager, he assured us this would be taken care of, and he would ensure we would get a refund or be taken care of somehow. It's now July, and we have gotten ONE reply to our follow ups, and yet nothing has been done. We spent our entire trip stressed, anxiety ridden, worried what would happen to US and the car. I just rented a car for 12 days from Enterprise at the Calgary airport. The service person was very patient with me as I some health issues as I selected a car. The service was great & the SUV I rented was great. The only compliant I have is they gave me 2 large keys that were soldered together & I couldnt separate them and leave 1 at the apartment I rented. I was so scared if I lost them or they fell down a hole, I would loose both and be stranded & they were so large to carry around. So please separate the 2 keys and allow people to take 1 key with them around then carry 2. read more

Although rental process was ok, although very slow, and car was great, we received a letter 2 months later with a fee for a speeding ticket plus a 20% administrative fee. There was no documentation provided, we were never stopped by an officer and assume this was a camera documentation. They only said that we signed the contract agreeing to pay any speeding or parking offenses. After some investigating on line, it seems this is a common occurrence with Enterprise. Be aware. And they never gave us a receipt upon returning the car. read more

Absolutely horrible service at the airport location. My sister booked a car months ahead of time and was concerned about only having a debit card. She called ahead to confirm that it would be okay and was assured it would be. It even said in her booking that payment and booking with a debit card was fine. She needed two car seats for her babies and booked those as well. She was assured all was fine. She arrives in yyc after flying across the country to be told no she can't book. She was essentially stranded at the airport at night with two babies and no way to get anywhere safely. They refused to even let her pay for the car seats to rent for one night so she could get her babies to their place of stay safely. If I could give these people a 0 star I would Where do I even begin? Rude , don't care about customers needs, push you off, think they are correct. Shawn should not be working at this location. I have never ever had worse customer service in my life. And lies. We have a rental right now for an insurance claim and have had nothing but a run around from enterprise in general. The main 1888 number recommended we went there after the CHECK ENGINE light came on and the heat stopped working as well as the veichle smelt like it was burning. SO we went up to the airport today. Got shoved off to Shawn by another staff member. We told him we needed an 8 seater and said he would swap us for the same van. Which they were all 7 seaters and I had to go look myself at how many they seated.. we also explained we didn't want the same van because of the issues we had. He basically stood in silence so we left mad as ever. We then called escalations AGAIN. Someone hung up on us and another left us hanging. Then we got a really nice lady who went above and beyond for us, she called the airport made us a reservation and said there was an 8 seater waiting for us at the airport and she confirmed that twice with a lady named Dana, Lana , Hana or gana. The other lady didn't understand . But she told us drive back up there and if there's an issue call us So back up we go to the airport. Another 45 minute drive of wasting gas. We got another gentleman. He was nice UNTIL SHAWN COMES OUT OF NOWHERE interrupting him , cutting us all off and telling us "I ALREADY TOLD YOU WE CANT HELP YOU" we told him we have a reservation he says no you don't. And the other employee backed right off and wouldn't speak to us cause Shawn basically told him not to. Shawn is very unknowledgeable, lies to customers and is so rude . When we asked if veichles behind (Yukon) were theirs and told him that would work for us , he goes they are ours but they are special veichles ? WTF IS A SPECIAL VEICHLE?!?! Then we find out they aren't even enterprises . This outfit is a damn joke. And Shawn is the rudest customer service ever. I think maybe all the employees here need re training and training in how to treat others. I tried to call the 1800 number again and get the same lady I spoke to but they shoved us off. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. They don't care about customers enterprise!! My poor mom is EXHAUSTED with this claim and this has made it so so so much more worse. NEVER will I recommend enterprise read more

Great and friendly staff! The manager even emailed me that day to follow up on customer service. I usually have great service with enterprise but this one in particular deserves special attention. They upgraded my car to a truck, especially since they thought it would be helpful to where I was going, and it was! As a St. Louis native (where Enterprise is HQ'd), I do prefer renting from Enterprise. Their level of customer service can't be beat, no matter if you're in STL, Chicago, San Francisco or even Calgary. I found a "special" online for a one-day Enterprise rental last week. When I arrived at YYC, there were two very friendly gentleman at the rental counter to greet me and handle my paperwork. And in true Enterprise fashion, the car they had for me was clean and another gentleman helped me inspect prior to leaving the airport. This was a very quick trip in and out of Calgary, so I only had the vehicle for 18 hours. No need to refill the gas tank. I was also able to drop off at 4 am at the airport the next day and leave the car keys in a drop box. Why 4-stars instead of 5? Driving around in a compact car on icy roads is scary! I wish they'd offered an upgrade, I'd have gladly paid it for AWD on a January day in Calgary. Navigating the highway with such a small car and not a lot of traction wasn't ideal. But having grown up driving in subpar conditions has me well trained. I survived. But a novice might not have made it out unscathed. That's it! I would recommend Enterprise for your vehicle rental in any city. read more

Flew into Calgary for a day trip to pick up a new puppy. Reservation was very easy, friendly and knowledgeable staff. During the day the keys to our vehicle ended up being locked in the vehicle. Worse, when we dropped off the car after a two week rental, we notified them with TWO emails and a phone call 30 minutes after checking into our return flight as we'd left two scarves and a coat behind. I have always used Enterprise for my car rentals. Always friendly and ready to help at any chance. I know renting at the airport can sometimes be a little more pricey but for Calgary, I thought I would bite the bullet and pay the extra airport tax. I needed a rental car to drive into Canmore and Banff. Picking up the car was quick and easy. I cannot recall the associate's name who helped me. Regardless she was quite pleasant and helpful. I always hate the part where they try to sell you on insurance coverage and pre-paid gas, but I know they are required to offer those services. She didn't pass any judgement when I politely declined. I told her what I wanted more than anything in the vehicle which was just to have an AUX plug. Some of the base line cars Enterprise gets may not have these, or so I have experienced. I tried to get a Lancer, but couldn't find the AUX plug. She was quick to jump from vehicle to vehicle and take the time to make sure that she found the class of vehicle that I wanted with the AUX plug. The car I rented, a Chevrolet Malibu, was a pretty nice car, and it performed nicely on this trip. I originally booked an economy class vehicle but this obviously an upgraded vehicle which they did free of charge. At first I declined because I didn't want to have to pay a lot of money on gas. To further accommodate me, they gave me the gas (1/2 tank) in the car for free and said don't worry about filling it up upon my return. I was about 15 minutes outside of the airport when the women who helped called my mobile phone, told me I forgot my wallet in the Lancer and she would wait for me to personally hand it back (after she just told me that she was going on a break). I thought this was very nice. Returning the car was quick and easy! I won't hesitate to rent there again. I wish all car rental companies offered as good of customer service as I received there. read more

This was my first rental experience and they made it so easy. I will definitely rent through them again. We Went on a 5 day trip to Alberta. We flew from Hamilton Ontario. My wife booked a car online. When we landed we went to pick up our Chevy Spark, and the lady said "here's the keys for the Malibu". It was a 2019 and an upgrade well above the spark at no additional charge. We took the car back at the end of the week, they did a quick visual inspection and we were on our way. Needed a Suburban or similar so we carry 8 passengers to my granddaughters graduation. (We were only allowed 1 vehicle per family) I had a reservation at the 58 ave & Blackfoot trail location well in advance. I got a call on the Monday (the grad was Friday) saying that due to the hailstorm they would probably not be able to find a Suburban for me. I explained the situation to Andy. This place is absolutely horrible they messed up my whole trip. I made a reservation on the phone and said Im from manitoba can I rent a car with my debit card if I show my flight itinerary and they said yes. when I got here they refused to take debit or cash as a form of payment. They lied to me over the phone. they have false advertising online. Saying you can use a debit card or cash if you show them your itinerary. They are liars, and false advertisers. at least other companies won't lie to you about saying you can use debit cards. They clearly state onmy credit cards. so thanks for ruining my trip. not impressed. Never going to rent a vehicle from there. And nor will any of my friends or family once they hear this.
