Absolutely Unacceptable - Stay Far Away from Budget Car Rental, Palm Harbor (Palm Plaza, P3H) I booked a 7-passenger van (specifically a Chrysler Pacifica or similar) TWO AND A HALF WEEKS in advance through Budget Car Rental website at Palm Plaza, P3H to accommodate seven people and our luggage for a family trip. You'd think with that much notice, they'd have enough time to make sure the reservation would be honored, right? Wrong. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, I was casually told that no 7-passenger vans were available and instead they offered me a GMC Acadia. For anyone unfamiliar, the Acadia is significantly smaller and NOT capable of fitting 7 adults and all their luggage. When I questioned this, the employee informed me that all Chrysler Pacificas were recalled, which was supposedly why they had none available. Here's the kicker: No one from Budget Car Rental even bothered to contact me ahead of time. No call. No email. No warning. Just show up and "Sorry, take this smaller vehicle or drive to our airport location to maybe get something bigger." Are you kidding me? You expect me to gamble my travel plans on a maybe? The employee had no other solution to offer, showed zero empathy, and clearly was not equipped to handle the situation. The whole experience screamed carelessness, incompetence, and a complete lack of professionalism. This was a massive disruption to our trip -- we missed part of our itinerary because of this nonsense. Oh and to add to the injury, no refund was given right away as I "booked through the website and now have to call their customer service to request the refund" which was given several days later. If you value your time, sanity, and don't want to be screwed at the last minute, AVOID Budget Car Rental, Palm Harbor (Palm Plaza, P3H) AT ALL COSTS. Do not use this location. A full 90 days after I rented from the Palm Harbor budget I received a letter saying I owed them $120 for a dent. This letter was so vague it didn't even mention which location I rented from, no car, information or dates, no detail of the dent. It didn't even have my full name. But it did include a statement saying they were going to automatically charge my credit card in one week. Total fraud. I called customer service, and they immediately retracted. If you do rent from here, be sure to take video before, leaving and hold onto it. read more

Horrible experience and my experience isn't even over yet. starting with pick up they tried to reject my debit card because of the type it was yet EVERYTHING else and everywhere else accepts my debit card including when I made the reservation.Nothing anywhere has restrictions on certain cards in this building so he finally did it. I got the truck From Tampa Fl to New Jersey is my trip. 5 hours in the sliding door busts open from wind because the latch was not attached properly. so after running to the back to stop my belongings from falling out I had to slam the door shut while trying to find a safe place to secure the door properly. I have 3 hours Left of my trip and the transmission keeps slipping and the van keeps having shorting problems with the electric. I booked a rental car with Budget Car Rental in Dunedin, Florida several days prior to needing the vehicle. On the morning, I was supposed pick the vehicle up I received a call stating that a car was not available. The company offered to rent me a car at another location and after the second reservation was made, I was told once again that no car was available. Their solution was to rent me a car at a much more costly rate. Their customer service was horrible and the four individuals I spoke with could not speak English clearly enough to understand. This company is not recommended and my experience with them was horrible! read more

I wish I could rate pick up and drop off separately. This would have been a 5 star review based on my pick up experience. Omar was great and he gets 5 stars. He was super nice and very helpful. I watched him go above and beyond to help a customer who was renting a moving truck the next day, but she desperately needed blankets for packing that evening. He didn't have any, so he called another office and made arrangements for her to get the needed blankets. The only negative issue with my pick up experience was that I had to wait 20 mins past my scheduled pick up time for a car to be delivered for me, and the people who delivered it left it dirty (sand from shoes on the dash and shoe marks on the window-both passenger side). But that is not Omar's fault, and overall it was a very good experience. However, I can't give higher than a 1 star because my drop off experience was horrible. If negative stars were an option, I would go with that. The guy behind the counter, who was definitely not Omar, was rude and slightly threatening. Omar told me I could drop the keys off in the drop box when I returned it. However, since the office was open, and there were other customers in line, I asked if I could just leave the keys with him. The guy behind the counter told me, with an attitude, that he was with another customer and if I left the keys on the counter I would be accepting liability. How is that any different from from leaving them in the drop box? If dropping them in a drop box excluded me from liability, what is different about leaving them with an employee? Do I now need to worry that he'll do something to the car and try to blame me? Thankfully I took a video of the entire car when I dropped it off, so I know there is no damage and it has a full tank of gas. Now, if it's Budget's policy that you need to leave them in the drop box, or wait until the employee checks the car back in, the guy behind the counter could have said so and directed me to the drop box location. In any event, I will not be going back there. Dear Budget-I know it's hard to find good employees these days that actually want to work, but keeping people who are rude to your customers is not the way to go. This employee needs some training on how to treat customers, or he should find another job that doesn't deal directly with people. Omar would NEVER have spoken to a customer that way. 6/14/2023 Had reservations for 10 days.Called 8 hours before pick up and omar never even started to line up van or 12'truck.Going from Palm Harbor Fl.to Chicago .He said we could wait a day or two or take a 16ft.truck for when we needed to leave.We had people to help load here and in Chicago on the weekend .They weren't going to take off work to help.We are two 70 year old ladies trying to drive a 16ft.truck with half the gas mileage the requested one gets.I think he just had the bigger one and knew we would be forced into taking it at such a late notice.You can't call Budget because they aren't corporate owned. read more

Worst customer service experience l have ever experienced. Extremely unprofessional! I have been renting vehicles here for last two month and the Manager Omar is always very nice and helpful. Unfortunately he was not there today when l returned rental vehicle it was an African American woman who refused to give her name. After inspecting vehicle she came in and told me l had a dog in the vehicle which l informed her was completely untrue. Apparently she does not like to be disagreed with and her demener and attitude completely changed and began being completely unprofessional and rude. I used vehicle to get back and forth to work and never had any animal in their vehicle ever.l She then told me that the floor was dirty and l was going to be charged for cleaning. I told her that it wasnt very dirty and was my understanding that they vacuum vehicle before re renting and she said they did but they did not "detail". I then asked for keys back to go vacuum so l wouldn't be charged since still had 3 hours on rental agreement which l had paid for. She told me to get out of office immediately or she was calling police, which l asked her to go ahead and do since l had done nothing wrong. I then asked for her name and she told me her name was "your name" and wasn't giving it to me. She then claimed that l was refusing to clean vehicle and would be charged in which l rrpled again to return key so l could vacuum . She again refused and told me to get the fxxk out of the office. Have videos of entire incident and her complete unprofessional behavior. Filed complaint with corporate which l will continue to do every week until resolved so no one else has to be treated this way. Will also review weekly until matter is taken care of. I visit this location often for various reasons (rental while car is getting repaired, car rentals for vacations, pickup trucks when moving large items, etc.). I typically have a great, smooth experience when renting vehicles from this location, except when a employee by the name of Kathy is working. EVERY TIME, and I mean EVERY TIME, when Kathy is working, there is an issue. Even if she is not the one assisting me, she finds a way to inject herself into situations. Her attitude is consistently rude, short, and condescending. There are simple solutions to issues that a renter like myself may encounter. For instance, the reservation is in my husbands name. Kathy would rather have me call my husband to come to the location rather than simply change the reservation name to mine. Or, when I returned my rental 30 minutes late due to traffic, she insisted I be charged for an additional day. A co-worker simply suggested they adjust the time to a 30 min. overage. Kathy has provided me false information regarding the easy-pass/toll policy; giving me the impression the rate was way more than it truly was. She has given me a disgusting attitude (huffed and rolled her eyes) when both myself and my husband accidentally made reservations for a car when only one reservation was needed. This last visit, I reserved a vehicle online. When I arrived, Kathy didn't have any vehicles available. I had to call my husband to come pick me up. Kathy didn't apologize once, but came off as annoyed that I was asking questions about why I was able to reserve a vehicle when there were 0 vehicles available. She told me theres nothing she could do and that I should have made the reservation more in advance. This location tried accusing me of damage that was pre-existing. Luckily I took a video of all the damage inside, and out of the truck. When I arrived to drop the truck off just hours later the scam artist who checked me out, and back in immediately went to a softball sized scrape and stated it looked like I did that when I filled the tank back up. After showing him my video and that the mark was already there he didn't even bother to look over the rest of the vehicle as he knew I had everything pre-existing on video. I would give this place 0 stars if possible. I made a reservation to get a car from this location a few days in advance. When I showed up on the day, about 5 minutes after the time of my reservation, there was no one at the front desk manning the place. I went outside and found the one person working helping another customer (seemed like he was washing the moving van they were trying to rent). I notified him that I was there for the car I had reserved and was told it would take an hour for the car to be ready "because someone else showed up." Rather than wait the hour, I took my business elsewhere. Here are my issues: 1. Hire some employees. One person cannot run an entire car rental facility by themselves, as evidenced by the fact that you couldn't handle more than 2 customers at the same time. 2. Honor reservations! As someone who actually put his reservation in well ahead of time, it is unacceptable that I would have to wait an hour to get a car because you're too busy helping someone else who you literally said "showed up." Do people who "show up" at a restaurant get priority seating to people with reservations? If I "show up" at the airport, will they bump people off a flight for my dumb ass? 3. Presentation matters, especially if service is going to be bad. The interior of this location was messy (a random office was open with papers and equipment strewn about), there was cleaning equipment just hanging out in the parking lot, the one guy working there (AKA the face of the company) was dressed like a slob. I took my business down the street to Enterprise Rental Car. They had 3 people working. Without a reservation, I had a car in 15 minutes and was on my way. And, because it wasn't just 1 guy stressing himself out trying to do everything, service was phenomenal: everyone was extremely friendly and helpful instead of rushed and stressed out, the place was clean and everyone was well-dressed in their uniforms, and there were cars available immediately. And they were able to help more than one customer at a time! Plus, they gave me a discount on my rental, unprompted, just to be nice. Not sure what everyone is complaining about but my experience was fine here. My car car was newer and in great condition, had upgrades, and only 7k miles. service was quick at the counter and quick to return, no super detailed inspection. I'd also like to note that they went around the car with me to note any pre-existing defects (I rented with National a couple weeks ago and they didn't do that... scary). Don't rent a moving truck from Budget ever! To make a long story short, we made a small move from Palm Harbor, FL to PA. It took 3 trucks to get us here--2 trucks deemed unsafe for a body to be in their trucks. It took 9 hours both times for different rental trucks to arrive. After 3 nights in motels and 64 calls to Budget (not a friendly or cooperative staff to work with) we finally arrived at our destination. And to top it off, they will refund us only $197 out of $788 for the truck rental. I will NEVER use Budget EVER!!! They deserve a zero rating. read more

Had a Priceline reservation for noon today to pick up an suv. Show up at 12:02 walk up to door and place is closed, lights off, no one around. Then see on their door they close at noon. Now why would they allow me to rent a car from them at the time they close. Funny thing is I called them at 10:00 to see if I could get the suv early. Phone rang and rang then I got auto transferred to a call center. Spoke to guy there who then said well you might be able to get it early but he did not show any SUV's available so it is better to go at your allotted time. Spoke to Budget customer service who pretty much blew me off saying well you should have gotten their earlier. Well hello that's what I wanted to do. Upon researching this Budget location there were several negative reviews so after my experience with this location I can see why. This store is run by idiots, plain and simple. I will never rent from Budget again and what is really funny, I went back to Priceline and got the same exact suv from a competitor for less money. DO NOT RENT FROM BUDGET. They are not reliable. They did not produce the truck I reserved two weeks earlier, and had no back up trucks available in FL. "Claimed" a mirror was broken on the truck overnight, but it had obviously not been there for enough time to gather dirt and dust, and no glass on the ground, and they are not equipped to manage a simple repair.
