    Wish I could give this place 0 stars. Staff is not friendly at all and gives you a not my problem…read moreattitude. Rented a car that was a disaster of a mess inside. And when bringing this up they just shrugged and said call customer service. Call customer service and they say they are international and I need to go speak to the rental place. Got the whole run around. Also while waiting heard the car rental staff next desk over speaking with an Avis staff just dogging a customer after they left. The customer was saying how the car engine isn't running right and wanted a different car but they would not give him one. After the customer left the guys are complaining how it's not their problem because they didn't rent from there. Starting saying really rude unprofessional remarks. Sad part is there are no other rental agencies that open late like this airport. So no options.

Within 1 hour, I realized that I could not do this - that my wife had to make the booking & use her credit card because she would be parking up the car so I was not able to pay for her. I called back within that hour, canceled the reservation in my name & booked a new reservation under her name & credit card. They had already charged my credit card the full amount - more than $500 - & told me it would take 3-5 business days to receive the credit. I was annoyed with this but they said "its their policy". Its been 12 business days & still no credit. When I call, all I get are apologies from some low level, overseas call center person who is able to do nothing to really help me. In short, Avis is quick to charge one's credit card, but moves at a glacial speed to return money owed to a customer. Theirs is a very shady, deceptive business - a far cry from when they used to say "we're #2 but we try harder".

    Horrible Experience being Lied to and strung along during a very difficult time…read more.. I landed at MacArthur on a Monday for a 1 week stay with visit my family after moving out of state. I dealt with JoAnn at the counter and she SEEMED like she was going to help me with this very difficult situation. The 2nd day of my stay, my 59 year old brother in law suddenly passed AWAY. With all of us in shock and disbelief, i headed into the MacArthur location and informed JoAnn what my family was dealing with. I also brought here in a friend (a refferal) that also just came in. He rented a high end car from them as well. I explain how I will now be staying for 2 weeks and I was hoping they could help me with some savings/better rate since I hadn't used a AAA discount, teacher discount, or any other I qualified for. Right away, JoAnn started asking for a positive Google/YELP review, and promised me her Manager Mark or Mike (I dont recall exactly the name) would "Hes gonna do somthing really nice for you..." Once again immediately asking for a positive Google/Yelp Review. She showed me a very high $ number on my projected recipt for the 2 weeks, and assured me it wouldnt be the high $ number Id be charged. Once again telling me they would be retroactively applying some type of discount, and once again, "My manager will be doing somthing really nice for you..." I stopped in the Budget office 2 other times asking if she had an opportunity to speak to her manager so I knew what Id be in for. With the sudden death of my brother in law, and all the other costs that come with an unexpected passing, YES I was deffinitly being spending conscious. Each time I was given the "My managers gonna do somthing really nice for you" response. I show up to return the clean vehicle with a full tank, go in to return the keys and speak with JoAnn one last time. I ask if I could speak to and thank her Mystery Manager before I fly home.JoAnn shows me my big printed out recipt with all her handwritten notes to her manager. I then also furnished her with the Funeral Card for my 59 year old brother in law and she added some additional notes. She them PROMISED me I would be getting a call Tuesday morning before my card was charged. Once again, she was adamantly requesting a positive Google/Yelp Review. I promised I would. Once home, Tuesday morning came and I was shocked and disappointed to see i had been banged over the head for that "Very high $ number." No phone call or email. I have reached out for 3 days trying to get in touch with the Macarthur airport budget location at the 631 981-5041. ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THROUGH! I speak to a dozen reps from the National Budget Rental Center and they cant get me in touch with anybody. One guy "Brendan: gave me a phone number to speak to 303-834-2938, that turned out to be a fax number. I was also given centralbilling@AvisBudget.com to complain to, but at this point , after every other resource being inaccurate , the only typing i'm going to be doing is on google and yelp. JoAnn definitely earned my confidence and fooled me. I even feel bad typing this as I thought she was going to help me. I'm just thoroughly disappointed in myself for allowing myself to be strung along and deceived like this. I hope they feel good taking advantage of somebody during one of the hardest times somebody could go through. Im still shaking my head in disbelief. I really thought they were gonna do the right thing. Shame on me... Theres your review Budget @ MacArthur Airport... Like I promised
