Great Barber Shop atmosphere. Nice and clean and friendly. Jerry did a great job on my hair. I'll be back.

My fiance has gone there twice now, and both times his hair cut was very uneven. The first time I told him to go back to get it evened out, since he paid for it. The second time, once again it was so uneven that long strands were still hanging down and in the back. They clearly don't know how to cut hair that isn't meant to be shaved or cut to the edges of the scalp. He wanted the hair to his shoulders and they cut a few inches above his shoulders. The job was so botched. I ended up cutting it evenly myself. It's a shame cause everyone who works there, that we've seen at least, seems nice, but they have literally one job to cut hair and can't even do that. The first time we went, I had my hair cut, but it was by the only woman who works there. She did my hair correctly and knew what she was doing. Where did these other barbers come from? Went in for my regular haircut and found they have raised their rates for a regular haircut from $18 to $22. Current rate of inflation is 8:5%, this is a 22% rate hike. A 10% increase would have been understandable, 22% is not. They have lost my patronage. read more

Dropped in here the other day and saw Gerry for a haircut upon the recommendation made by fellow Yelper, Travis P. of Ojai. Could not be more satisfied!!! Thanks for the rec, Travis. Gerry did an awesome job on my hair. I really want the person cutting my hair to be focused and pay attention to the details. Gerry does this wonderfully, and all with minimal chit-chat. Very humble, kind man, to boot. Been cutting hair for 25 years, and it shows! He handles the clippers and scissors with such control! Pleasure to experience his work. I'll definitely be back to see him. Highly recommended. P.S. not certain why people have rated this place as $$ ("moderate"). I only dropped a Jackson at this place and that included a generous 25% tip. So yeah. This place is certainly $ ("inexpensive") in my book. read more

I had previously wrote a five star review of this business because I had been going there for quite a long time and they had always, in the past, been a friendly establishment that gave great haircuts The other bad review talked about a bad haircut, I would like to express my displeasure to the owner, that either cut hair the way people ask for, instead of your own version, or don't be surprised if they shift barbers within your shop. And when they do, refusing to greet them or even talk to them when they come in, is a reflection of yourself and unprofessional. This is now my situation and I'm thinking of leaving because of it. Maybe the owner can't stand the fact that people prefer the lady barber in the middle because she cuts the way people want and is fairly friendly. If you can't treat all customers with the same respect, and you let your bias and insecurities regulate how you treat clients or potential clients, you shouldn't be in business. I dont run my business that way, and surely don't want to be treated that way , especially as a long time client by any business. With as many haircut and styling places popping up in the city, the owner would be well advised to treat all his clients the same, respectfully, even if they choose not to have you cut their hair. read more

I've been getting my haircut at Buena barber shop for years. Started going there after they opened. Gerry and his staff, in my opinion, are the best barbers in Ventura. There service is excellent and their prices are very fair, and should probably be more considering the high quality of hair cut you get. Give them a try, their really nice people and you won't be disapointed. read more
