Good name for this place in Frankfort except it has more than nachos on the menu. It's a lot more to be sure. Buenas Nachos is a casual feeling place but it's better than it seems though as it has good prices and portions on everything. Has the basic Mexican American stuff like burritos and tacos, the kind of things approved by kids. This is about as good as Mexican gets around here, so you better like it or get Taco Bell shit. Came at lunch and it wasn't busy. It's not that big of a place so it looks busier than it is. There's only a few tables. Also there's freshly made beverages. It has Horchata and Jamaica for about $2.50 in a big cup. The cup size is plenty. Order at the counter. We got some of the basic stuff. Good vegetarian choices. There's a few. Burritos are about $7, and I left off the cheese and sour cream. This one also comes with green peppers, onions, rice, and tomatoes. Big and filling. Vegetarian Tacos are pretty similar. It's $2.75 each. This has about the same filling so it's basically different on just outside. For sure it's not authentic. It's in a pretty busy strip mall so it's going for a broad audience so it means making it more palatable for all tastes. Al pastor dinner (3 tacos & rice & beans) tacos came with onions and cilantro which were good. First time getting al pastor tacos. IMO the pork was not marinated enough i went through 3 cups of green sauce just to make sure they were saucy enough. Also I would've requested flour tortillas next time I'm just not a fan of corn tortillas. I also got a horchata (drink) which is delicious. Perfect . Not the best Mexican food I've had but it's good. The service is always friendly and everyone is always working hard. The beef nachos are my total guilty pleasure. Don't tell anyone but, I adore the orange melty nacho cheese. Plus it is super inexpensive as a small order is plenty for an entire meal and a large will feed a whole family. Sometimes I split the nachos and order some steak tacos too. Yum! The meat is well seasoned and the cheese, tomatoes and cilantro make for perfect toppings. I don't see why some people hate this place; I thought this place was fantastic. I placed a large order via phone and the guy was polite and repeated my order. I came in to get my food, and the cashier threw in some sauce for the tacos, along with those amazing pickled carrots and jalapenos. The transaction was easy, but was the food good? It was. It was very good. The food was outstanding. I've been to a lot of Mexican places in the hoods on Chi-town, and this place can compete with any of them. Plus, the prices are very reasonable. Most tacos are under $2, and I got a large nachos with beef for $5,89, which was HUGE (easily split between 4 people, and I'm a big eater). The prices for guac were also reasonable, especially compared to what Chipotle charges. The menu is available online, and you can call ahead to avoid waiting around for your food. Everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. I see no reason why this place deserves less than 5-stars. read more

I've been a customer here since the early 90's. There was a woman who ran the show and a tight ship. Never had any problems with food or service. Nowadays, if you go there during the week before 5:00 everything will be fine. However, any time after 5:00, and on Fridays are out of the question. Younger kids take over and they could care less. I tried calling in a order Friday at 6:00. Busy time I'm sure, but no one would answer the phone. I finally get through after calling for 10 minutes only to be put on hold and never gotten back to. I hung up repeated this process 3 times with the same results. The older two sons do a great job during the day, the younger crew that relieves them is chasing customers away running this place down. I go to mytaco on rt 30 now it's closer and no hassle. read more
