Then they checked brakes (they said this is standard practice) and said they needed to be changed (they confessed to my husband on the phone they have a policy if brakes are at 40% good then they tell people they need to be changed but don't tell the people that but of info). They took hub caps off to look and when they put them back on they didn't line them up correctly on one tire and forced it on causing it to crack. They saw a woman (me) come in and did the quintessential thing and uncharged me for everything because I am not the "car" person. This place is horrible. I asked about pricing for replacing the timing belt, drive belt, water pump, and tensioner. Derrick informed me that the cost would be $689.64 but also incorrectly stated that my vehicle had a timing chain, not a timing belt. He advised that a valve adjustment with valve cover gasket replacement wasn't necessary unless there was an error code, which contradicted the dealership's recommendation. I clarified the services I needed and asked if I would need to make an appointment. He said that if I dropped the car off early in the day, it could be completed the same afternoon. On June 10, I called ahead at 12:05 PM to confirm the timing, and I was told the work could still be completed that day. I brought my car in shortly after and reiterated the specific services I needed to multiple staff members. Again, I was assured it would be ready by the afternoon. However, at 4:00 PM, I received a call from Derrick stating that they were recommending additional services based on their inspection. I explained that these services had just been completed at the Virginia dealership, to which he responded, "It doesn't show on Carfax." Considering the work was completed only a few days earlier, I wouldn't expect it to appear on Carfax yet. More importantly, Derrick then revised the estimate from $689.64 to $1,250.97, citing that he had overlooked the fact that my vehicle does, in fact, have a timing belt. He also told me that the car would not be ready until the following day. At this point, I asked what--if anything--had been completed, and was told that no work had begun. I requested that they remove the car from the shop, and I picked it up shortly after. This experience left me extremely disappointed. The lack of accurate information, poor communication, and misdiagnosis of basic vehicle components raise serious concerns about the competency of the staff. I expected more professionalism and reliability, and I will be taking my vehicle to a more trusted and knowledgeable service provider moving forward.

I follow the OEM service recommendations pretty meticulously. One of the listed services at 100k miles is "drain and refill transfer case fluid". I come in at 92k miles and ask what the Christian Brothers recommend. Of course they recommended over 3000 dollars worth of service. I declined more than 2,000 of it. One of the service's I didn't decline was "Transmission fluid flush". This was a service Christian Brothers recommend. I didn't bring this to them. It was recommended to me. A quick google search, "Should you flush the transmission fluid on a high mileage vehicle", says "If your fluid is old (over 80,000-100,000 miles) and has never been changed: Do not flush it.". 10,000 miles later. My transmission is trash and needs to be replaced. Another shop says it's 2 quarts low and full of metallic shavings. This other shop was immediately concerned when I told them it was flushed 10k miles ago. Says they never perform flushes on fluid this old. I would like to give Christian Brothers the benefit of the doubt and assume they are just unintelligent novice mechanics running a shop that's good for oil changes and that's about it but I can't help but wonder if they just recommend as much service as possible. Either way, avoid this shop at all costs.

We drove the vehicle not even 5 minutes down the road and it over heated. Coolant and oil was everywhere inside the engine bay. The original head and bolts (that we paid additional funds to have brand new parts and to be replaced) were still on the vehicle. Multiple parts and wires are no longer connected and bolts are missing for parts to remain in place). The car can no longer be driven at this time until we are able to obtain the funds for the repairs that Lynn was immensely incompetent in completing. All attempts to contact Lynn were met with him blocking us. We have requested our $1750 with zero response. ONLY USE this mechanic, if you want to be out of money that could be spent at a shop or minor issues repaired. OTHERWISE don't waste your time or money.

I'm 100k further down the road and my axle seals are still fine. The blonde old hippie is a shyster, and his squeaky mouthpiece at the desk is just a minion. I went there because I thought they did good, honest work. But this was my last day ever since... can't re-build that kind of trust.
