The best buffalo exchange. I used to live in Williamsburg and would frequent this location often. This week I stopped by while on vacation and scored some gems. The pricing is quite fair. The staff are doing research. As a buyer, you'll pay as much as or slightly less than what is being sold on Poshmark or Depop in my opinion. Sometimes you'll get lucky and a limited piece will be priced at what similar items for that brand would be priced ... and that's the thrill of it all. Great quality items that you get to try on and feel. A lot of new with tag items. read more

I brought items in as a seller. First-time seller, casual shopper. The mentality of the two behind the counter going over the clothes is very judgmental. They go piece by piece and engage you in conversation, almost to throw you off guard. There is the tiniest spot on the hem, but I love the pattern. The collar has a bit of a yellow mark but LOVE the shirt. In the end they hand you back most everything and I think to myself it is summer in NYC you gave them a $195 shirt with tags still attached, it is a navy blue collarless cotton shirt and they don't take it? Newsflash counterhelp... not everyone who shops at BE has Kool-aid-colored hair, multiple piercings, torn tops with low-slung jeans, and too much jewelry. Open your eyes. Several years ago, I brought stuff to Tokio 7. It was May. I had a lime green N. Peal cashmere sweater that was brand new. He argued with me that it was the wrong season. I argued back and said, " Take it, and if it doesn't sell, I'll take it back. It sold the next day for full price. In conclusion, they kept a few things..... Despite my horrible experience with the Chelsea location, this Brooklyn (WILLIAMSBURG) Buffalo Exchange completely brought back my love for thrifting--and for this company in general! I was actually on my way to Beacon's Closet when I took a wrong turn and boom!--Buffalo Exchange appeared right in front of me. I figured, why not check it out since I'd never been to this one before? This location is definitely on the smaller side, but don't let that fool you--you'll find some beautiful pieces here. The staff is absolutely amazing: super friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and best of all, honest. And when I say honest, I mean it. They're very upfront about how low the company's buying percentages are. So if you think you're getting $900 for your $1,400 Balenciaga sneakers, you're sadly mistaken--but they'll tell you exactly what they can offer and even suggest other stores that might better fit your item's value. That kind of integrity and transparency means everything to me. It shows they genuinely care about you and your items. I've already visited twice, and I can confidently say this little Williamsburg shop is hands down the best Buffalo Exchange location. Chelsea and NoHo should definitely come take notes--this is the kind of service every location should strive for. Buffalo Exchange corporate: if every store had this same energy and approach, your brand would truly skyrocket. I come to this buffalo exchange religiously and ALWAYS come out with the cutest things, literally never leave empty handed. All the employees are the sweetest, I just sold with Brook and they were so kind and quick with the buy which I really appreciated! There is a huge selection of things for everyone which is incredible, you really can find just about anything here. The value is also amazing I really do think everything is more than reasonably priced and that's why I always come back! The store is packed with so many goodies but honestly it always feels pretty easy to navigate and find whatever you're looking for. Literally one of my favorite vintage stores in Brooklyn. The disconnect with this store and the world is unreal. I know it's October but for some reason, I thought it was April when I went in. The first to be exact because when I saw some of the prices on these items, let alone their shoes. I was baffled. I looked around and was wondering if I was in the Ralph Lauren mansion on fifth Avenue. But no, I was in the Buffalo Exchange on Driggs. Maybe the employees don't read a newspaper or even look at social media videos or any media videos at that seeing how things are turning in the world. People can't afford to buy food. Let alone spend this much money on clothing, especially with stains and that has been washed and faded out. These were the three photos I took. I could have taken more but I didn't want to waste any more time in this place. I saw sneakers for $175?! No ticket of authenticity no box, you will have no idea if they're real or if they're not. Purchasing a pair of sneakers from this place will be a joke on someone. I'm sorry, but this place has lost whatever shine they did have. Management seriously needs to look something up with this place. Racks are filled to the brim. I wonder why? Maybe if you priced things accordingly and just think about how you're gonna price something before you decide to purchase it from someone might be the answer. Until then skip this place and head to cross roads, closer to the train station, coffee right across the street and a bigger space with much more and better priced items. read more

My buddy is an avid advocate of thrifting. He's been successful in getting sooner nice coats and NFL jerseys that were vintage. I am not a fan of second hand clothing,, but did decide it may be worth my while to see if I could luck out on some jerseys like he did. Unfortunately, I was unable to find any jerseys, but I did see a fair pair of Adidas. (However, my reluctance too have second hand things didn't allow me to purchase). As we were about to depart, I noticed a Bob Ross t-shirt; I did decide that would be worth my while. I'd probably not return because of how tight the store was and my inability to find jerseys, but seemingly they had a large range of clothing that may suit others needs. read more

So, Buffalo Exchange is one of my favorite stores and I've been to almost every one in the country. I have a real love / hate relationship with this store. First, the selling. Selling to any of these stores in NY is difficult because of the volume of people that come to sell. But Beacons has a drop and go and Crossroads has a waitlist (although it isn't recommended to leave your stuff and shop, you can). But this Buffalo has one of the worst processes I've ever seen. Sit on the stairs for 2 hours and wiggle your way up to the counter with all of your crap. I would say every time I've been here (usually 1-2x/year, so over the past 10ish years), if I haven't stayed with the buyer..they didn't go through my stuff. This happened to me at this location at least 4x. Like I just waited 2 hours to sell my stuff, sitting on your stairs and then you hand my stuff back to me 20 min later folded exactly the same. It has boiled my blood. Would be one thing not to take my stuff after going through it, but this is especially offensive when you can't shop while waiting. So the last time I sold to this location, I waited with the buyer (who was amazing!) and they took over $100 worth of stuff from me. I just came to Brooklyn last week to sell to some of the stores and I actually put my stuff in my car to shop here since I had credit from other Buffalo locations and didn't want to lose my whole day sitting on the stairs with my stuff that they weren't going to look through. Shopping here is claustrophobic. Like..the racks are so close together and then there's people everywhere and you can't even move. In my opinion, most of the stuff is overpriced, but there are gems to be found. But you have to dig through everything. On my trip last week, I left with 3 great pieces that I was super happy to find. Overall, I think Crossroads a few blocks away is a much more enjoyable experience (overall better prices, more space, less people, better selling experience). While the merch isn't as good as the Chelsea location, I do think there are gems here. I will likely continue to shop here every so often and just always avoid selling here. The other good thing I want to note is that they do seem to authenticate here. I've found a couple of fakes at similar stores in Brooklyn (very disappointing) and I haven't seen anything fake here. read more

This is BY FAR the worst Buffalo to sell your things at. The buyers are extremely hit or miss, mostly miss. They're clueless and will pass on an amazing current piece and literately say "it's the silhouette" like they know about fashion/style or anything besides cheap trends. They're also like 21 yo and don't have any experience or know brands besides urban outfitters, brandy and Unif, smh It makes sense why shopping here sucks too. So much fast fashion, and generic shit! No imagination, no fun vintage, not even any cool early 2000s pieces just a lot overpriced super ugly GANNI that didn't sell at whos ever boutique it was at. Tons of Zara, some boring madewell thrown in, really old old (w the 8 year old tag) Reformation dresses priced $38+ crazy. Just like no quality shit at this store. This actually has been one of my favorite locations for years. Now that I've moved out of New York, I'll thrift shop once in a blue when I have time, as it's my all time favorite. I flew to this shop last minute after work from Jersey for some concert necessities, and thankfully the workers allowed me to try on what I needed before closing, however as I checked out with my goodies, these Vince Camuto boots were on my mind and the gentlemen checking me out, encouraged me to grab them. As I tried one boot on briefly, three of the girls snapped at me consecutively "like hi, yeah we're closed, we're closing up, the store is closed" as if I wasn't aware and didn't just spend $200. They were visibly cognitive of my intentional rush during checkout, but felt justified in their delivery which wasn't necessary. of course the one that shared my skin color looked at me as if I was lost, tragic. It's extremely distasteful to act in such disdain when a client isn't disruptive or a nuisance. The employees were simply shuffling the clothes on the racks, it's not like there was tedious folding like the experts in Uniqlo or a high end luxury store. thank Jah for the gentleman who I believe is {Latino} checking me out with chill vibrational eclipse energy, closing my experience seamlessly. Buffalo Exchange needs a tweak of training on etiquette and patience with customers "especially indigenous" when checking out. I went on a Sunday with a suitcase full of clothes and few shoes. Out of the suitcase they selected one brallete top for $4 store credit. My items were in good condition and some not even used. The staff are very young and inexperienced. Only catering to one type of crowd. The line is long to purchase as well as to sell. I'm incredibly frustrated by this location and the extremely unsympathetic staff who donated (without permission or any warning) the very expensive and sentimental bags I dropped my clothes off in. I scheduled a drop off for last Friday. When I got to the location, I asked whether I should empty the items from my bags or if I could come back to pick up the bags. The person at the desk suggested that I leave the bags so I could pick up whatever they didn't buy. They told me I would receive a phone call when they finished going through my items. Fast forward to Tuesday - no phone call. I called the store and was told that they tried to call me (strange, because I have no missed calls from them), and that they had sent me money via paypal. I check my paypal, nothing was sent. They said they would check and call me back. Fast forward to Thursday - no phone call. I call the store and they admit that the money was never sent to my paypal because "we want to confirm your email address". I confirmed over the phone and ask if I could pick up the unwanted items + my bags over the weekend, she says yes. I go to the store today and the person at the counter says they have nothing in the back and that everything in the store was donated. She says I was required to pick up the unwanted items "within 24 hours". I ask her to double check as I called several times throughout the week and nobody told me about this 24 hour time limit. She rolls her eyes and goes to check, comes back empty handed and says that it's my fault. She says "we are not a storage facility" and "anybody you talked to would have said you had 24 hours to pick up your items." I'm incredibly frustrated. I don't mind that the unwanted clothing was donated, but those bags were extremely sentimental for me, and if I had known that there was a time limit, I would never have left the bags there. The fact that the person was rude, unsympathetic, and basically blamed *me* for the store messing up was just icing on the cake. read more

I'm only giving one star because of the guy I spoke to on the phone who was genuinely nice unlike the other people who work here. As a native New Yorker I should've known to stay away from this place based on instinct; however, as I ignored my instinct I went into the store and attempted to sell an older purse I had. A girl with a blank (I mean dead in the eyes) stare looked at me, looked at my bag, and immediately said no with no explanation as to why despite the authenticity of the purse.
