i live right by the Fullerton Buffalo and usually swing by after school. ive sold a couple of times and have a gotten a decent amount of store credit (you can take a smaller percentage as cash too). i have always gotten excellent service from all of the employees, they are all very helpful and sweet. i love this place because they always have something new in, and i usually walk away with a couple of inexpensive name bran items! ive been to the LA, Long beach, and Costa Mesa locations, but the always return to Fullerton one because of the great selection and service. read more

Don't waste your time. We took new clothes with tags on there and they did not buy anything. Their 'buyer' is this thing with a bull ring in her nose, and supposedly is looking for clothes that will sell in their store. Well, if new clothes with tags on them won't sell there then I don't anything will. We just donated our clothes to Goodwill and can got more for the tax deduction that way. read more

Went here for my first time to sell some of my old things and ended up walking out with a little over $100 in cash. I would have gotten almost $200 worth of store credit if I wanted to go shopping. This used to be my favorite location with friendly buyers and great merchandise. Sadly however the current buying staff needs a lesson in customer service. The managers are nice and knowledgeable but my last selling experience really sealed the deal with this location. I've sold clothes here many times and so I know the process. I've also worked in resale different places (including buffalo) and know how it works so I'm not easily offended when selling. I was paired up with a blonde girl with short hair in a fisherman's cap who was training a newer male buyer with glasses and a beanie. First off they were too focused interacting with each other and didn't pay me attention at all, even when I tried to give them information on some of the items I was selling. They passed on current madewell silk tops and reformation and fawned over one of those stupid raven backpacks from urban and a beat up thrasher sweatshirt. They talked about if they should buy it for themselves which I was always taught is super inappropriate. They then proceeded to call one of my items "super gaudy" right in front of my face and were going to pass on it until a manager came over and said to buy it in. It was just really uncomfortable and I felt a really unprofessional interaction. No thank you for selling. No nothing. Very much gave off that "I'm too cool" vibe which is the stereotypical resale store trope. Sad to say I'll probably be frequenting the Long Beach location more now :/ hopefully this changes because I really liked this location until recently. read more

Between a thrift store and Buffalo exchange, there are key differences that set them apart from each other. At Buffalo Exchange one can bring in clothing items to donate, sell, or trade. While in other thrift stores like Goodwill customers aren't given any option other than purchasing items. With the stores wide variety of garments from well known fashion designers and popular stores like Forever 21 the negative association of the word 'thrift store' is being broken as well as replaced with that of vintage fashion . If Buffalo Exchange continues its fashion savvy looks, great selection of clothes and customer service it's sure to knock all other thrift stores out of the water. When walking into Buffalo Exchange a customer is instantly hit with the sweet sound of music and greeting of sale associates which provides a friendly soothing environment. A person could quickly notice when skimming around the store that each garment is sorted by size and clothing type making it easier for a customer to find something specific they may be looking for in the store. The store also has a wide variety of men's clothing from pants to sweaters which can be hard to come across these days when department stores are primarily aimed towards females. A customer also instantly has the option to sell, buy, or donate clothing. If a customer chooses to sell old items they no longer have use for then the process is quite easy. All the customer must do is gather up their clothing, drive down to the nearest Buffalo Exchange and tell the cashier that they wish to sell certain items. It is optional but a good idea to call ahead and see what items of clothing the store is looking to purchase. The selection of clothing that the store chooses to buy from a customer usually varies by season. For example, during the winter season the store will look to buy items of clothing such as jackets, coats, scarves, and boots while during the summer season the hot items to sell to Buffalo Exchange include graphic t-shirts, dresses, shorts, and sandals among other things. The clothes that are purchased by the store are usually up to the latest fashion trends and priced for all to afford. True religion jeans, which cost upwards of $300 can be found at a Buffalo Exchange for close to $30, saving you over $200 from the original retail price. Ultimately customers save twice the amount of money they would spend at any other retail outlet while pocketing in a fair amount of cash from old items of clothing that would usually end up sitting in their closets. If a customer doesn't wish to sell their clothing after receiving an offer that does not fit up to their standards then they have the option of trading articles of clothing for store credit. For example, a customer will choose to take $40 in store credit rather than $20 in cash. They can then spend that $40 on whatever items in the store that they would like to purchase. The store credit option usually tends to be higher in monetary value than the cash option. The third option that customers have when attempting to sell clothes to Buffalo Exchange is the donating option. If a customer is told that certain items that they brought in aren't what the store is looking for or if they would rather just be willing to give away their unwanted clothes for a good cause, then the Buffalo employee will ask them if they wish to donate those clothing items to various local charities. Buffalo Exchange is a very environmental friendly business and has a reputation for always giving back to the community through various charity donations. For example, every time a customer tells the cashier that they would not like a bag a token is given. The customer is then given the chance to donate that token which is five cents to any given charity of their choice. Keep in mind that Buffalo Exchange sponsors over 100 charities which means that a person has an endless list to find a cause which best fits their passion and personality. The lady there offered me 9 bucks for a pair of brand new in the box special edition reebok shoes with $89 dollar tag still on them. her reason for such a low price is because they have to much color on them and people want plain shoes. The manager was condescending. I guess if you want to be taken seriously, you should probably dress up, because when my girl and I came in to sell our clothes the manager was constantly staring us down. There was a bit of a line so we took a seat, waiting to be helped next. At this point I didn't realize who she was, but she was at a register and was already staring us down. I shrugged it off, but when we were called by the cashier to be helped, the manager went to the cashier who was helping us and was basically coaching her why each clothing was unacceptable. She took control, dumped out clothes on the table, picked it back up and started shoving back in the bag, staring at us while doing so. I had a few clothes that were brand new and sat in my closet for a while. Never wore them, still had the tag. She told the cashier not to accept them because "sometimes they're just on sale," while, for some reason, still staring AT US. I'm not even sure what she's trying to imply there. I don't know why the manager was acting the way she did, I just figured maybe because were wearing fairly basic clothing? Maybe they dislike people who don't look stylish? The staff was pretty nice despite these reviews. I mean, they were really really nice. Looks like they are cleaning up their act. I took 4 big bags of clothes and they bought 3 pieces out of the bunch. This surprised me, given that my clothes was in good condition and definitely still in season. The buyer said some of the styles are just overstocked . I didn't take it personally since i saw this was a trend (everyone in line before me only sold only a few pieces also) They ended up buying a leather skirt, a felt hat, and a knit throw over of mine. Totaling to a whopping $10. No matter how much you take them, no matter how stylish they are or if they are in mint condition, you still might not sell anything. I suggest you go in without any expectations. The shopping selection was pretty good. Prices were ok. Just about two dollars less than a brand new piece at a fashion store. Its a hit or miss(like any other thrift store) If it's overpriced, it's probably because it's vintage or a one-of-a-kind piece. Good luck! :) read more

Love love LOVE this buffalo exchange!!! I have sold twice here and the employees are fabulous! So well spoken and a blast to chit chat with during the process because trust me, it can get long. Both times I've gone I've left with a check for more than I was expecting and bonus: the clothes they don't buy and you're still just trying to get rid of, they work with local charities and have a donation center on site! Each day is a different charity so you know exactly who your clothes are going to! I've sold with Leslie twice and Hannah for the first time today. They are very deliberate with the buying process and i have never felt like something was priced unfairly (the cash payback percentage is honestly awesome compared to other places). They are always aware of what they need and already have in store. You must remember they are still trying to run a business. So if they don't buy something its because they already have it or know it won't sell fast enough (doesn't mean they don't like it or think it's cute! ). They have some of the most fun and unique pieces in store, you never know what you're gonna find. The girls are always awesome and a pretty funky Playlist to top it off makes this my favorite clothing exchange/thrifting store!!! read more

It used to be a place where you could find or sell designer labels/jeans, etc...now unless your 18 and dress like you're still trying to "find yourself" and are desperate for attention....you're not going to find or sell anything. And BTW, if you sell...the Buyers don't really even look at your items...they are too busy talking. The Buyer that helped me yesterday was such an annoying drama queen. I just got home from Buffalo Exchange and I think it will become my new addiction. I have never really shopped at a second hand place before because, like most people, I didn't know about all the amazing stuff they have to offer. I brought in a ton of clothes but they only bought two things, which is totally fine because usually I just give all my stuff to Goodwill. I traded two of my shirts and got the cutest Hello Kitty shirt. I was loving so much more stuff on the racks and I would've bought tons more stuff if I wasn't currently trying to save money for a vacation. They have really great stuff. And the racks are not jammed full of crap that you have to sort through for goodies and it's pretty organized. Plus the place doesn't stink like some used clothing places. Almost everything is great, in my opinion. I'm almost mad at myself for not shopping here sooner. The salespeople are super nice too. Not stuck up at all. I love that I'm being eco-friendly by buying second hand clothes, along with being budget friendly. Also, love that the clothes are unique and you won't look like a carbon copy of everyone you see at the mall. So I will start out by saying that I used to really love this store when i was like a freshman in high school until I realized that this store was not really great at all the prices were highly overpriced considering it is a thrift store, It was very much highly overrated. There are multiple problems with this store..... 1. Some of the clothes is highly overpriced! 2. It is suppose to have "vintage" pieces but honestly i never see anything I would be better off going across the street to American Vintage it is a little bit pricy but not that much considering there clothes are actually vintage. 3. The workers there are very rude and obviously dont know how to count, I went there today and sold a pair of boots i was supposed to get $10 cash, I didnt notice till i got home the cashier had only given me $7 with no receipt may I add. 4. Also when you "donate" the clothes they dont want to buy they dont donate it they actually sell it. 5. There very but very picky on choosing clothes they say they want newer looking clothes when most of there clothes on the racks have holes and all washed out. I went to go sell a pair of brand new True Religion jeans with the tags still on and they didnt want to buy them really! Obviously these people dont know current fashion and Brand names Point is that store just really bugs me I have decided to never shop there ever again. P.s. May i also add there is NEVER parking space the lot behind it is always full. You would just be better off going to the goodwill or other thrift stores near you. read more

I live very close to this location so for me, this is a go-to place when I need something. I've been shopping here for quite a while and I will admit the prices have gone up to regular store prices rather than thrift-store prices but the quality of the clothes has also improved. Whenever I walk into the store, the employees are usually talking but always make a point to greet me. While shopping, they usually ask a couple times if you need help and are very nice about it. I've even had a couple chats with them about my day/the clothes there. Honestly the employees might recognize me because I do go there often but still, they are always helpful, sweet, and stylish. Even when I've been in there for an hour just trying on stuff but walk out with nothing, they still smile and say have a nice day. I've gone there multiple times with the same bag of clothes every time and they usually take 2 or 3 things from my bag each time, so I know that its not that they don't like my clothing but they cant take a lot from everybody. Overall I enjoy coming here since its close and not very crowded and I can usually find a few good deals. Only reason for not 5 stars is that its true that the prices are a bit pricey when you finally find something you like(some things in there are downright insane for them to take). But like I said, I recommend coming here. read more

I am a first timer. I accidentally found this place as I was drinking tea across the street with my friend. I only brought in one bag of stuff and I think they took 30-40% of my stuff. My friend had one bag too and she made about $35 store credit and I made about 30 dollars in store credit. They were all very nice ladies. Sometimes they don't take your stuff if they already have it, or clothes are washed too many times, or they are not in season. They get more than 100 items throughout the day and they don't have space to store them all. All the clothes they didn't want to buy from me, I just donated them all. read more

usually i don't have good experiences with buffalo exchange, most of the time when i go into one i'm there for 5 min before i feel the need to exit, then i leave vowing never to return ... either the employees are blah or the clothes are not vintage at all... but i have to say the fullerton location is by far one of the better buffalo exchanges i've ever been to... i recently sold some stuff there & the buyer, his name was derek - hopefully spelling that right, was such a sweetheart... no obnoxious reason as to why he didn't buy back certain items, or random snobby opinions about my belongings... which totally happens at some buffalo stores... all the employees were really welcoming, super-duper customer service & the selection of stuff / prices are great... definitely worth going to! read more

I have sold and purchased items at this location. Never a problem. If you're selling bring a picture ID. Staff is friendly and they provide great customer service. The items are gently used or new. On a side note, Brittany B. has been a positive and supportive staff member here. She will assist you with any outfit. Again, all the staff is friendly and they have all provided me with great customer service. I have been a customer here for over six years and will continue to come back. don't even bother coming here. prices are overpriced. they don't take any of your clothes and all the ones they have in store are junk and jam packed on the racks. they say they don't take any clothing that looks worn, but take one look through a rack and all what it is just old plain basic tank tops. also anything that has a vintage, hipster, cool look don't even bother bringing in either which doesn't make sense at all because buffalo exchange (majority of their other locations) brings off those type of vibes, but for some reason anytime I bring those in they never take them and I never see them in stores either read more

This is the first time I have ever been to a buffalo exchange, and i am glad to say that it was a good experience. The racks are layed out nicely. The music was a bit loud though. The staff was very nice, and a young lady offered to start me a dressing room when I had about 16 items in my hand. The selection of jeans was rather lousy, but they had a ton of shorts. None of which were in style, but still. An amazing dress selection, but I didnt really browse through them becausue I dont really wear dresses too much. I walked away with three items, and spent about $32.00. I got a very hippyish shirt (the hem on the bottom was very torn apart, but it was only $5.), an adorable short sleeved blouse, and a very cute tank top with a wonderful neckline. The lady at the counter was happy to explain how everything worked. This was a great experience and I definetly see myself returning in the future. read more

I usually take my clothes to the Buffalo Exchange in Hillcrest, I always have a good experience there and usually sell everything I bring. I had called the Buffalo Exchange in Hillcrest as well as the Fullerton location prior to driving out there to see what they were looking to buy, I live about an hour from each so I want to make sure the trip is worth it. The woman I spoke to on the phone from the Fullerton location was pleasant, informative, and helpful. She helped me make my decision in coming to this one (I've never sold at Fullerton before). Upon arriving I had Jonathan (the Manager) greet me & my boyfriend as I walked in the door, and he ended up being my buyer. He was so kind to us. He was so enthusiastic about buying and informing us about how the process works, what they look for, and so on. He kept the conversation going the whole time we were there (I had a LOT of stuff) and they bought most of the stuff I brought. SO happy with this place. Thanks Jonathan for winning me over! Been here twice, and the selection of clothing was great each time. For a vintage clothing store, prices are mid-range ($10 and up), but occasionally some tags have a 50% stamp on them. Each rack was organized based on type of clothing and size, so searching for something in particular wasn't too hard. The store does a good job of stocking branded and trendy clothing, so I definitely recommend checking it out! read more

I prefer this location, every time I come here I like it more and more. Better, friendly and open minded buyers here. (Although I feel buffalo is a little expensive now.) I wish I got the name of two associates that are particularly nice when I'm there. Also the buyers here are never rude about your rejected items. When I asked if there was a number to call/website to write to about service, the manager was reluctant to answer, but I told her it wasn't anything bad and her mood seemed to change. Don't listen to all the negative reviews. This is definitely my favorite Buffalo Exchange, for buying and selling. They have a great selection, variety of sizes and styles, and all the clothing is very well priced. I sell frequently and it's always a pleasant experience! The wait is only long if you come at peak times and the employees work hard to make the line go fast. Yes, they won't buy all the clothes you bring in, but you shouldn't take that personally! It has a lot to do with their current inventory and what is currently selling. Typically, about one third to half of my items get taken and the pricing is absolutely fair. I personally cannot believe the negative reviews on customer service. Every employee I have encountered has gone above and beyond to be helpful and cheerful! The buyers are always super friendly and the manager is great! She even gave me chocolate the last time I came in! read more

This store is AWESOME. Even though it may be a little disorganized and overflowing with clothes, I like it. It adds to the feeling that you are shifting though lots of vintage/consignment store clothes, and you are going to find a gem. I like that this store carries brands of all sorts, and different levels of quality.They also carry lots of pieces that are on-trend, if you like that. Some clothes are vintage, too. The prices are very reasonable, some more than others, but all in all, you can easily find a good deal here. The employees are also very friendly. If you choose to come here, keep in mind that you should have enough time (at least 2 hours!) to shop and go through all the overflowing racks to find and try on the clothes you like! Shopped here yesterday for the first time in a long time. Bought a cute sweater in a color I had been looking for for a great price! I left pretty happy with my purchase. Before I left I asked about selling some clothes I had that I didn't want, came back the next day with about 15 items and unfortunately most of the reviews in regards to selling are true. They took nothing. Now to be honest, some of my clothes were worn, but others I only wore about twice and they looked great! I couldn't believe it. The clothes I brought also fit the description of things they were looking for, in my opinion. The employee was nice, but basically said that my clothes were cute, yet showed signs of wearing and that they see that a lot when it comes to Forever21 clothes. Really? The day before when I was there with my friends a lot of the clothes I saw had Forever21 labels and one shirt I was looking at from Forever21 had a hole in it. Seriously? Anyway, I can't complain too much. You win some, you lose some, but I wouldn't recommend coming here to try and sell unless you want to basically go and buy new "hip" clothes and then want to sell them for 30% of what you paid or 50% store credit. Also, I agree with some of the reviews that talk about some of the clothes being overpriced. Why buy worn clothes some ranging from $20-30 something bucks when you can buy new somewhere else? I went to this locacation with my friend total disappointment. Stein mart and Macy's and nordstroms rack have better deals on clothes than they do. For example my friend saw navy vans that were little dirty and wore they wanted 30 dollars.
