The store is filled with chunky shoes and graphic tees for the most part, and while this might work for some buyers/sellers I don't find them to be particularly diverse (at least at this location). Quality, in-season pieces will be rejected for things you won't consider when going in, so be prepared. Depending on your style, you might find it hard to conceive why they don't want your Bloomingdale's pieces, but are eager to collect your grandfathers hand me downs. To be clear, I realize each resale company markets to a particular demographic...both females (around my age) left the store with everything they brought it. It truly depends on what you're looking for or trying to sell. I wouldn't bring anything particularly high end here or you'll probably walk out offended. Spare yourself. Regarding anything retail, it might be beneficial to offer a more diverse range of merchandise. Personally, I would not try to sell here again or shop here. While there, I was told their clientele prefers certain styles so they were not interested in what I had to offer. I use to love buffalo exchange. They were my go to thrift store. Now the store is dark, cramped with very rude prejudice employees. They need a training in culturalism and customer service. Ima try to make a long store short... I tried selling my clothes. At first there was a black employee who was alone but going through the clothes pretty quickly. Still, there was a long line wrapped around the store and I was really frustrated because there was plenty of employees who could have jumped in to get the line down. She was buying things from everyone. At least "something"! However, once it got to my turn another employee came up to the black employee and told her to move to a different location. She looked really annoyed. I thought that was weird. Why take her away why not add to her so she can cut this line down! There was still 1-2 ppl in front of me and there was now literally 3 people who were going through the clothes taking their sweet time and chatting. Not even really looking. Ridiculous! They saw my frustration as I knowingly showed it. They didn't care. When it got to me, I told them that I had another big bag of clothes and if I should bring them in. One of the girls said we will look through this and then you can bring the other in. I emphasised that I had waited for a very long time and didn't want to get back in line but they said it would be a problem. Now check this, they looked through a 50lb bag of hip, trendy, stylish clothes, brand new vans, patent leather heels, unconventional pieces etc and said "nope". They go through the whole speech about them looking for xyz. And so I mentioned the other bag that I said I for sure have that in that bag. She reiterated "yea u can go through them and bring them back next time and we'll be happy to take a look" like lady! Your co-worker just told me it wasn't a problem annnnnddd this not a walk around the corner. I live far, traffic is horrible and parking is worse! I felt like she was playing in my face and I was very livid because I know the clothes that I went through and bought something if not all should have been taken. I feels racist and prejudice here. No customer service! The buy/sell program sucks! Customers shouldn't have to wait for hours when you have capabilities to get them in and out. It's "ehhh" the clothes aren't that great, but they do look clean. They have a bunch of fast fashion. Selling here is difficult. Like others in the area they only really accept what's super trendy. They turned down pieces that were $600-800 that I bought years ago but isn't trendy anymore. Instead they buy my PacSun or Brandy Melville junk. Makes no sense. Also 25% is a joke. Was visiting LA with my partner and I told him how I always wanted to visit Buffalo Exchange. I hear about it on Instagram and TikTok sometimes when asking people where they thrifted their clothes. As a result, I was really curious about the place. And I'm happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised. They have a wide range of clothing that suits various of styles. From vintage to y2k, you can find a lot of options. It can be a little overwhelming as there is a lot to rummage through. However, it is also worth it as I did find a ton of good sets. Most places tend to sell sets separately and this was the first time where I've seen a set priced together. I found a Cinnamoroll set that was on sale, a Bebe jumpsuit, and more. I'm truly happy with my purchases and the workers were a delight. It was already late when I was shopping here and yet the workers were cheerful and filled with energy. I felt welcomed and enjoyed the vibes of the place. The only cons I have is that there is no direct parking. You most likely have to park on the street like I did. This isn't too much of a problem though as the neighborhood we parked in didn't seem shady or anything and the walk wasn't that bad. However, I was here on a weekday with my partner instead of a weekend. Therefore, the place was a lot less crowded so I can't comment on parking on a busy day. I was also only a buyer so I cannot comment on how it is to sell here. But from a buyer's perspective, I highly recommend giving this Buffalo Exchange a look. Trying to clear out some space for your amazing new purchases? You can also bring in your old clothes to try and sell. They're looking for different things according to the season, so it's best to keep track of that. I'd say they're pretty picky with what they'll buy. There were several people in front of me with bags and bags of clothes and they only took a few things before getting to me. They turned away everything I brought in, which I was fine with since they do it in a very kind and respectful way. Parking can be difficult, but not impossible! There's a small private lot, but there's only a few spots there. Street parking is available, but it's a relatively busy street. I came twice to sell because the first time, the line was too long and there was only one person working - who was chatting more than going through the clothes. There seemed to be a million people on staff, but there was only one helping with the sell/trades. Additionally, the clothes are so squished together on the rack that they are hard to see. This place has not adapted their process well for buying clothes during the pandemic. I did their drop box thing a few months ago where you had a 15 minute window to drop stuff off in a box and they call a day or two later. I was fine with that, but when I came back a couple months later with the my fiancée to drop off a bunch of her things to sell, we had a 130 appt and got there at 140 due to traffic, which I assumed was fine since I thought we just had to drop everything off in a box like last time. Instead we spent ten minutes being told we were too late and that they look at the clothes in person now. No one mentioned this over the phone, and I assumed given the pandemic is even worse now that they would keep the drop off system instead of keeping ppl in store for 15 minutes. I explained that no one told us the system had changed and that we drove 30 minutes to get there, but we were still turned away. If they had simply owned up to their poor communication instead of arguing we could have been out of there by the time the next appt came in, also a few minutes late. Instead they wasted a chunk of my day off and my fiancée's working day. I have an irregular schedule and don't know when I work from week to week until later in the week. Their rigid appointment system is an issue, especially during the pandemic. Prices have really become outrageous here! You used to be able to find gems at decently affordable prices. Now they're selling the worst quality polyester clothing for 30+ dollars. I know it isn't true thrifting, but shouldn't there be an incentive to buy second-hand over new? What's the point if the second hand costs more than what it probably cost new? I don't really have much to say about selling clothing to the store either, I've tried a few times but they rarely take much of anything, even very high quality clothing. It seems like they prioritize certain brands and current trends over quality, which I get, they have a younger audience who prefers trendy clothes over quality. But still, if you're going to sell Shein clothing, you can't sell it at a 500x markup. Grace C. and I wandered in here last weekend when I was in need of an ugly sweater for a holiday party. They had plenty but none were holiday themed. I found one that was red at least and looked around some more. Grace found some really cute New Balance street sneakers which were her size for $18.50! I didn't have the same luck, but I did find these really cute red patent leather Moshino butterfly flats marked at $65. Although they were lightly scuffed, they were still very cute and my size! Grace mentioned that they could easily go for upwards of $400 new. I agonized over the price tag especially since Christmas is around the corner. I even went so far as to check online to see what the retail price was. I found them on eBay for $55, free ship. The girl behind the counter looked at them again and scanned the price tag. First off, I'd like to say that I've come to buffalo exchange since i was in high school (12 years strong) and when they were located off of la brea and they always had something cool to find. They had band tees, the coolest jackets sometimes, pants and jeans that weren't the k mart brand Levis or uniqlo. You could find all the street wear brands for sure. I high key knew when they moved location, their selection would suffer greatly. They used to have Stussy across the street, Undefeated next door and American vintage across the way. Im sure they used to drop off-season stuff all the time at buffalo and now on melrose they literally don't have anything cool. Ive come across so much target, denizen, Nordstrom rack stuff here its ridiculous. If i wanted that retail stuff i would go there(its used at buffalo and they dont even sell it for that much less than what you would get it brand new) And their vintage stuff is always some Hawaiian souvenir or Pendleton. Okay you like Pendleton. we get it. Shoes are out of the question. Nothing nice below size 12. I would say the pandemic hit em hard but to be honest I've come multiple times to the same lame, mundane selection for a few years now. Sometimes it feels like I'm picking through my closet the way i find THE SAME SHIRTS over and over again. I usually like to go on a thrifting run on the weekends and i would start at this buffalo exchange every-time. Now, i wont be wasting my time. The employees are alright but im sure its hard to work in this claustrophobic store and maintain a positive outlook on life. This s**t hole place deserves no stars. I called yesterday asking for some information before setting up an appointment. The lady on the phone seemed really nice and said they accepted all types of clothing (new,old styles) I don't recall skinny jeans being out of style!! If you know what you want to purchase from customers why not save the time and let your customers know on the website or over the phone what you are looking for instead of having a customer drive out there that lives an hour away. Took me 20mins to find parking cause for some reason this place doesn't have a parking lot. And yet for this old blond lady to tell me that skinny jeans are not in. I came to sell clothes and while I don't really care that nothing was sold, I will say that the experience was humilating given that one of the attendants was really loud about the whole thing. It's cool that you don't want my clothes but you don't have to announce it to the other shoppers. I've worked in customer service for a long time and the only time I recall anyone doing that is because they want to save face about an unwanted type of customer to the other customers. This was a covert form of discrimination. You need to show respect to all sellers, regardless if you would buy or not. Based on the reviews this seems like an ongoing pattern with this establishment. I get it, it's not just what you're looking to buy, you're also thinking about whether the seller is someone you want to offer credit to and shop at your establishment if the business does buy something. That's why there's an interrogation of questions masked with friendliness because obviously someone who is trying to get rid of stuff and has rarely shopped at your business is a risky investment for you all. Pro Tip: You'd do well treating people with respect to avoid the bad reviews while still covertly discriminating sellers you don't want shopping at your store or looking for a quick cash grab. While I don't claim I had trendy high brand stuff, I still think its wild not one thing sold. I hope this review helps others understand better why their own palatable clothing also doesn't get put on the rack. The exchange process is the backbone of the business and while many are deluded into thinking that doing business here is a great response to textile waste, this business is just using that to make money off of people who are captivated by the fact they could support a business that "does their part". Not only the fashionability of its clothes but the service provided was excellent. Specifically the store associates Paris, Gabriella, Stella, and Chase were extremely attentive, friendly, and helpful. Honestly, there's better places to sell than to come here. The person who's going through the cloths should come from working at an actual retail store, someone who's worked with customer service before. These people here don't know what to buy. I took all of my cloths (6bags) full of G by Guess, GUESS, Ralph Lauren, Polo, Last Kings, Crooks n Castle, Echo United, South Pole, adidas, Nike, Armani, etcetc (just to name a few) out of those 6 full chunky large bags they only bought off 7 or 8 items at only $60. I'll rather go and have my own Post at a swap meet and make those $60 in less than an hour. Remind you I had to wait almost 2 and half hours to get my bags checked. Don't come here. They rip you off and best part when they don't buy your stuff they will try and offer you to leave as a donation when they won't donate and resell. People who don't take the bags rather leave them. I F'D Up on leaving 2 bags. It's not worth the wait and to bring your stuff here. Crossroads / out the closet / wasteland / goodwill are better chances of getting better deals.
