My first and most likely last time coming to this store. Unless it's to use the $12 credit I received for some shoes I brought in. For those who are coming here to see if you could get some cash/credit for clothes/shoes you don't wear anymore. Save your time and energy! To be honest, my experience with their whole process felt very classist and overall dehumanizing. You go in looking forward to the experience and leave feeling like your privacy and vulnerability were just invaded and overlooked. Bringing in nice and folded clothes and leaving with them stuffing everything back in the bag you brought and even breaking the zipper on my bag with no care. I left wondering if my identities were different, would they have reconsidered some of the clothes I brought in? It's unfortunate but the reality whether it's conscious or unconscious bias. They even turned down one of my track zip up sweater saying "these do better as sets" and then trying to only buy my the pants of another track suit SET I brought in... don't they do better as sets? well I'm glad I kept the whole set and donated all the clothes to people that aren't classist. read more

I had a very bad experience here. I brougt in six bags of clothes, shoes and handbag. Some of those are quite new and fashion. The staff took a look at all my stuff and put them all back. She didn't take a single item! It's winter now so I can understand if they don't take dress but why not coat and jacket? I finally donate them all to good will. This store is amazing... conveniently located in the fairplex district they have vintage and new clothing!! There are so many hidden jems here!! I got a green Jordan sweatshirt with the tags on it for only like $20 and my girlfriend got a sweet vintage corduroy jacket that she loves. One great thing about this store is it's location because it is right by fairplex district, so you can park at one end of the street and make your way to all the shops. I had 4 bags on consignment. I have paperwork and everything. Months went by and I decided to call and check in. They sold 1 and the other 3 went missing. This review is for their sell-by-mail service. I mailed them two full bags of new and like-new high end clothing and I figured I'd probably get $5-10 dollars at least. But once they processed my items, I got an email saying they couldn't buy any of my items and that they would all be donated. It definitely leans heavier on the vintage side for women at this store, or so I've found, and the guys section is a great place to score those cool button up shirts that you throw on with an old pair of jeans and not comb your hair and make you look like a million bangable bucks! I've been fortunate that every city which I've graced with my presence in the last ten years has had a Buffalo Exchange. However, unlike Starbucks, not all Buffalos are created equal. Not super-impressed with this one. Perhaps it speaks to the diversity of the area (a good thing), but I find that much of the clothing in this location isn't something I'd wear in public (a bad thing). Moreover, the cashiers seem slower than usual when looking at clothes you're selling, and it's not just that there are more customers with more clothing, they just don't seem to even try to hustle. I waited 45 minutes behind 10 people, and there were only two people working the counter. Almost got frustrated and left, but then I was finally up front. I still think that Buffalo Exchange outperforms other shops... but I'm just not certain that this location is 'all that' compared to others. read more

I had a great experience here! The sell counter bought 5/9 items I bought. I was able to use the store credit to buy a t-shirt and a bag (not the best trade-off imo, but I wasn't too mad because I was happy with the items I got) All of the workers were super nice which I wasn't expecting and Kev especially had this AMAZING VIBRANT ENERGY and ran to grab me a bag that perfectly matched the one I was already wearing. It was refreshing to see someone work with so much passion and I was absolutely eating it up. I will say it was kind of annoying to have to stand in line to sell your items. At other locations, it's a waitlist and they call you up instead which allows you to browse while you wait, but here you were kinda stuck. Overall, I'll definitely be back! read more

Nonetheless, the wait was short and the buyer looked through my stuff very nicely and gave me reasons. She was not condescending or rude. I had a selling appointment booked for 4:20, checked in and was told there was only one person ahead of me. Only to see 3 sellers taken ahead of me. Come to find out these sellers were "walk-ins". I was not called to sell until 5:00pm. It really defeats the purpose of making an appointment if you're not going to be able to sell at that time. After looking over my items for MAYBE 10 minutes. They only took 2 of my items offered me $6 in cash or $12 in store credit, and proceeded to tell me "we've gotten feedback from our customers saying they'd like to see less 'fast fashion' brands in store." Okay...understandable, but the fact that they didn't take some pieces I had like generic, but stylish sunglasses. As well as jeans that look generic brand-wise. Overall worst customer service experience and selling I've had in a long time and the clothing in their store is not even that fashionable to begin with. I had heard good things about Buffalo Exchange, but was pretty disappointed following my visit. Not a lot of options in terms of men's clothing unless you're a grungy LA scenester or an up-and-coming hipster. The shoes looked really WORN. Too many skinny jeans. If you squat or do any leg exercises at the gym, you probably won't fit into any of them. After about an hour, I finally managed to find one decent-looking shirt for $8. You can find a few hidden gems in the $7-20 range if you're willing to commit some time to the quest. I would have left earlier, but I had to let the GF do her shopping. Service was whatever. The girls behind the counter and at the dressing room were going through the motions. I probably would be too, though. No bathroom inside. The closest one is down the street at Starbucks. I also scored a nice pair of platforms (too modern for the party) for 10 bucks and my family found some of their costumes and accessories here as well. And the guy working the fitting room was ultra helpful and fashion-savvy. The location is easy to find but the lot is usually full so get a meter (just make sure it's not during the towing hours which I believe is 4-7pm). It's not super close to where I live but I'll definitely be back when I have the time. Oh but one star taken off for not accepting any of my clothes that I tried to give away. Not a good seller experience. I'm sure this place is fab for the odd find to buy but to sell I found it a real disappointment. I came in with several almost new designer jeans retailing from $200-300 dollars and was offered $9 per jeans. I also had brand new, in the box, limited edition puma sneakers that they offered $6 for. It was kind of a pawn shop vibe. This BE location is usually at the top of my list but today was a real miss. The staff were pleasant as always (go team!) but the interior and exterior were filthy. The parking lot had garbage strewn all over including glass, discarded bins of clothes and general garbage. The sidewalk in front had trash everywhere which was tracking it it's way into the store. It was clear no one had swept when the store opened for the day. The line to sell this afternoon was pretty long but that's pretty normal. I'm used to waiting at all locations to sell however there was ONE buyer and no sign-in list which I guess they no longer utilize? So now an awkward line forms to sell while we could be browsing for stuff to trade for. I've always seen them add a second or even third line for buying when it's crowded. Maybe they were short staffed today? Overall not a great BE day, but I'll be back since the staff is always polite and they tend to carry edgier, funkier items than Santa Monica. As general info goes, there's a small parking lot adjacent to the building. Look for the teal green building. When selling, have stuff that is on brand and on trend. I've had the most luck selling street wear brands and stuff from the likes of Dolls Kill. Make sure all the zippers work and hardware is in tact. read more

I like selling and buying clothes here. And I understand sometimes they can't buy clothes out of style or season. But I think at least they should let sellers "sign in" so while we wait to sell, we can shop too! I mean... isn't that the point of "exchange?" They make all sellers physically line up and don't let us shop (or even sit down). So by the time I reach the end waiting up to 30 minutes holding huge bags of clothes, I'm exhausted from waiting I don't even wanna shop around to buy for exchange. This place is 50/50. I really like the Ventura location more. Slim pickings here. I get the vibes that they don't buy much of anything from anyone really. They bought 3 items off me and I got about 17$ in store credit. Which to me.. isn't much. I sold something online for 10$ while waiting in line, so it was like meh considering how long of a drive this is for me, it's not worth it to try and sell here. Might as well just do the work myself. For all 3 items they wanted to give me 10$ in cash... bleh Buying: not much here. I found 2 shirts, one in the women's section (which tbh is garbage... it's just a bunch of forever21 cheap paper thin useless shirts) and one in the mens which for some reason I have better luck finding good quality shirts in. Women's tees are cheap looking and not worth what they're trying to sell them for. I have better success here once again at the other location. I have been coming to Buffalo exchange for a good amount of time now, and I came yesterday to see if they wanted to buy some clothing, I came in around 7:30 p.m., and they close at 8 p.m., their was two people in front of me. I understand it almost closing time. Finally, after waiting it was almost 8 p.m. and the African American gentleman could have a little better customer service, he was very rude and just threw my clothes on the side, you can tell he just wanted to go home. But ......sadly (for this reviewer) , about 2 years ago or less , Buffalo Exchange changed it's business model quite a bit . It seems to be less about buying interesting , gently used items from stylish traders , and more about buying wholesale , mass produced rayon challis printed dresses / tops / and all manner of poorly made and ill fitting " trendy" floral and ethnic print shmattas . Why oh why , Buffalo Exchange , have you ruined one of the best places in town for affordable quality fashion ? And what will you do when the current trend of 90's print baby dolls and unflattering tunics is over ( hint : now ) ???????? This place, like all 2nd hand and consignment stores, requires some digging. But, there are definitely gems in here. It's not as large as the valley one on Ventura Blvd., which is my preferred location, but out of convenience I come here when I'm searching for something eclectic. So if you found something online from China for $9, chances are it's here and available to try on beforehand. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of how difficult parking is, and because they regularly forget to remove the sensor tags which is an issue because the receipts mark everything as a "blouse" so they can't tell (if you come back to get it removed) if u actually bought the other item with the sensor still on it. read more
