This place has lost some of its charm. It was so awesome when Michi and Miranda were always around. Great vibe, super friendly, cool music. Not only has the selection gone downhill (I saw Target brand jeans for sale listed as "80s"), the cashier is off-putting (grey hair lady).... I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt but every time I've been she is consistently rude to me and the customers. Bad attitude! I'd give her 1 star. Frankly I'm only giving 4 stars here in hopes that Michi sees this and tries to restore the good vibes. I don't want to bring this place down. I could have been there for hours, sadly only had 10 min to find not 1 but 2 life altering vintage leather jackets at great prices. Very good selection of vintage jackets, skirts, dresses, etc. I also greatly appreciated the collection of sports jerseys, and other sport team apparel. I think I found something from about every team I could ever want. There is a section of more fast fashion tops and cheaper material which was a little disappointing but overall a very well curated store with kind owner and fun music. Keep in mind it is a little crammed because of the amount of clothes in a small space but the owner informed us that she is opening a new location that is bigger so I highly recommend checking that out. This was the most versed, procured shop I've ever been in! The ambiance was incredible, and the pieces were true vintage. There was an immense selection of both mens and women's clothing. I'm talking racks and racks of true vintage t shirts, penny lane coats, denim from the 40's-60's, 80's band tees, jumpsuits, dresses, with prints of all kinds. It was a dream. Upon stepping foot inside the store, I was verbally assaulted by a woman who informed me that I could not bring my purse inside... I asked her why and she responded "because of theft and people stealing " Say what??? Yes, this really did happen to me. This rude obnoxious girl said my purse was not allowed in as if I were going to steal something. How pathetic. This was roughly 3 weeks ago, but I am cautioning everyone that this woman's action was the result of racial profiling. Hubby is Black and I'm North African and we were certainly profiled by this evil mean-spirited, sales associate. Anecdotally, hubby and I headed to love seat in downtown LA and spent $300 on a lovely Moroccan coffee table. They know how to treat potential customers, and in turn, we treated ourselves to a nice vintage piece of furniture. ;-) Now that's what superlative customer service! I love the Vortex. Make sure to bring cash or have a Venmo account set up here they don't take cards. They want you to use gloves due to covid so it feels very safe and sanitary. Really good deals but you will need to spend some time fingering through the racks so make sure you come here with time to spare. read more

The new location is beautiful and has 10+ vendors offering a massive selection of vintage from $5 to rare designer pieces. It is an antique-mall like set-up, so you get to shop the collections of many different sellers in one place. I found this shop at the old location in 2015 and have found so many ridiculously amazing pieces for under $30. First time visiting this store and I will surely be back! They have a great range of clothing dating from the 1950s to 1990s all at affordable prices. Bought the most darling late 1960s brown velvet dress with a high collar. Serious Megan Draper vibes from Mad Men. Miranda (one of the vendors inside) was very charming and sweet. This place is great. The staff are so friendly and helpful. There are so many different types and eras of vintage clothing from Victorian style nightgowns to bell bottoms to distressed band tees. I found the most beautiful 70s style gowns for upcoming holiday parties in jewel tones of turquoise and tangerine. I could have spent all my money in this store. It reminds me of a small version of House of Vintage in Portland- it has a few sellers/sections selling their vintage wares- a lot of fun items from different eras- vintage band tees galore, '70s floral long dresses, '40s hats, lunch boxes, Western wear/boots, Boho tops...The prices were pretty reasonable too. The women working there were friendly and chatted with me. I found a $22 Bohemian-style top for summertime, too! We parked in a metered spot out front, it is in the triangular "vortex" where Sunset and Hollywood combine, so parking can be tricky. They also have a vintage furniture shop around the corner/behind their store, which had a lot of fun wares- a blue typewriter, dolls, beautiful clutches, more clothes, and of course furniture. read more

DO NOT SHOP AT THIS STORE!!!! I went in for my first time and bought 2 items totaling $36 and when I check my bank acct she some how charged me 2 more transactions one for $47 and another for $2.50. This store has committed FRAUD. I now have to have the extra charges reversed and issued a new card. So disappointed in the rocker chick who works there. read more

This place is expensive but it's just the best selection. I see new stuff every single time I come here, and you can find interesting hidden things on every single rack. This place has a great selection of vintage T shirts, dresses, and sweaters. There seems to be a focus on 80s styles which I really like. It's not difficult to spend over $100 or more here, and I find it really expensive even for curated vintage. But the percentage of really quality stuff is high enough that I don't mind spending a little more than I normally would on vintage. read more

Great space, cool decor, and a WIDE selection of clothing. You can find something from nearly any trend in history! I stopped in after scouring all of LA, searching for something to wear for my Josephine Baker-inspired shoot. Here, I found the perfect hand-beaded 100% Silk showgirl costume.
