They have changed the burgers and for the better! I think what I do not like about BWW isnt the chain itself, its just the Ankeny location. Its setup is very dated, you can tell whoever owns it has no pride and doesn't want to spend any money on the decor. Also, they dont care about the setting the environment for example; we went this past Wednesday night and at 10pm every light was still on full blast. Anyone with any bar knowledge knows that this has a negative effect on bar sales. Food took about 45 minutes to come out ( we ordered at 7:30) and they weren't busy, I actually did a table count. Including us three other tables. Two couples and what looked like a mom, pop with a child who came in long after we did. Our table was 3 adults. I ordered medium boneless wings with sauce. I got medium bone in wings dry rub. I was too hungry to care at that point. My friend order a cheeseburger and got some black bean burger thing. After waiting so long for food, you would expect it to be right. Our server was nice, can't blame him. Sadly this is standard for thos location. I tired to talk my friend out of going, but she didnt think it would he that bad. As we left she said she definitely wont go back. The vibe here is always wrong. When we go to other locations it's a completely different feeling and vibe. The other locations feel cleaner, they look and feel like a bar / eatery. My bartender, when present, was effective. Unfortunately, she seemed more interested in another employee or her boyfriend at the opposite end of the bar. It took a fortnight to get the actual order placed. They have some good late night specials (some apps are $4), but beware of sneaky, hidden up charges. For example, I got the chips/queso. She asked me if I wanted the chili that comes with it...I thought this was a spice-related thing. I said sure. It was actually two ounces of chili soup that was an extra 60 cents. Best bdubs in the metro area! I've never had bad service in the multiple times I've been here over the last year or so. Seems like they have definitely improved. Food always comes out "hot and ready" as in one it's done it comes out, even if the rest of your food isn't ready, so be prepared for that. This location, like most I've been to across the country was just average service and seemingly way over staffed. Why are there so many people working there all the time?? The food is always good and the menu is extensive enough for anyone to get something they would like to eat. I've been to Bdubs near college campuses before and can say being in Ankeny, this location does not get the large groups of college kids there to hangout to watch the game. The crowd here mainly consists of families who enjoy sport themed restaurants, not too many younger people. This location is always busy, but I have never had to wait for a seat so that's a plus. The parking is easy here, tons of spots. Staff is friendly and food comes out of the kitchen in a fair amount of time. I come here often when I want my spicy wing fix. read more
