I had a great experience here. The service was quick and friendly, and during the lunch hour, I was able to get in right away. They also honored my gift certificate despite it being a few days expired!

90 min wait. Dozens seated before us. Why? They don't really use their app. We checked in but their unwritten policy is that they don't really put you down unless you speak with them. So we sat. We waited. Nothing. Finally we made our way to the extremely crowded server counter. And were told by a very overworked nasty rude blonde that she would now mark us down as just arrived. So 45 more minutes. Waiting. As people who just walked in were seated. Why have an app? Why have signs posted encouraging use if you still demand walk up registration? Disrespectful. Won't be back. There are lots of choices.

When you first walk in there are benches set up for you to wait. It can get crowded so may make it hard to hear a little bit. The lighting is just right where you can see but also feel like there is a good ambiance setting as well for a night out. Boyfriend and I have been here a couple times and have not been let down! From the service to the food it's all totally worth the wait!! I love how the salad is always fresh and crisp, not to mention actually cold. They have definitely stepped it up as I've had bad experiences with having a not very well cooked steak along with other small inconveniences. The last time and this time has proven they have stepped up and work hard to please their customers. I'm very thankful they have stepped it up and are showing more caution with how the steaks are served. I absolutely love the options for steak toppers as well!

My husband and I are regulars when it comes to Texas Roadhouse. Whenever we are in a new town, we always try the local one. Tonight we went to this location and we had the best experience! We ordered the cactus blossom and it was cooked perfectly!! No extra grease in the bottom, all the batter was cooked, and it came apart wonderfully. We always share a steak, and tonight it was cooked perfect!! I added shrimp, those were cooked perfectly as well. The sides were also wonderful! We sat at the bar and the waitress/bartender was very friendly and extremely attentive! I missed her name but I think her shirt said Andy. The music wasn't too loud so we didn't have to yell at each other to have conversation. Absolutely will return to this one when we are in town again.

We were there on a Sunday so I suspect a lot of other people were taking advantage of the Sunday dinner for two like we were. We were greeted when we came in the door and the service from the time we entered until the time we left was outstanding. As we are celebrating our anniversary, our table was decorated for that which was a nice touch. We looked over the very extensive menus and did settle back in on the $99 dinner for two. In theory it is smaller portions than some of their other dishes, but there was more than enough food there for the two of us. We got the filet mignon, which was wonderfully prepared and an outstanding cut of meat. We got the 50-50 potatoes, and asked later what the 50-50 meant and discovered it's 50% potato and 50% butter and cream. They are delicious but decadent! We also got the asparagus which was very good. It had a wonderful sauce, and was tender and flavorful. We also each got the wedge salad which was almost a meal in itself. And we each got the carrot cake for dessert. We had to bring a lot of the carrot cake home because we were quite topped off at that point. The carrot cake is a slightly different twist than some, but very good nonetheless. The wine list is very good and prices are what you would expect at an establishment of this type. All in all, I would definitely go back and try some other things. If you're into oysters, they have quite a selection of those, but that's not really my jam.

The place is modern - a juxtaposition of the origins of the name. Waitress was spectacular. The food was amazing. I wouldn't have expected anything less than the 100% attention we got since the price for 3 was about a paycheck for many Iowans but this was for one meal in a day. Great for an experience - not for everyday.

My spouse and I hit it for the lunch special ($16 burger). Service was the best I have ever had. The burger was excellent without any flaws as you would expect. For $16 a burger it isn't bad value plus you get A+ service and surroundings.

Being in a transitional phase his kitchen is useless so if we want to eat it's got to be in a restaurant. We've been everywhere so no clue how this gem snuck past us. I would put them next to any of the high end places downtown without a second thought. The ambiance is clean, casual and cozy - think Colorado log cabin. It's not a big place so I imagine you'll find long waits on weekends. If so, wait. Trust me. It wasn't crowded because we typically don't venture out until late but 3/4 of the tables were occupied and several people were at the bar. Even so, it was easy to carry on a conversation without needing to raise our voices. It's difficult to choose what to order because everything sounds great. We ordered chicken fried oyster mushrooms for an app and they set the tone for everything else. Perfectly breaded and seasoned with actual flavor being the stale oil taste of a lot of fried apps. I had the Lobster Mac and it was absolutely decadent. There was a generous amount of lobster and the pieces themselves were substantial. The blend of cheeses was perfect. For the side (which wasn't even necessary because the size of the Mac was more than big enough) I got the Boursin Mushroom Au Gratin. I can't think of a word that describes how delicious it was. Perfect creaminess, rich with a slight tang...it could have stood on its own. My fiancé ordered the Iowa Chop and we were both shocked at the size of it. Again (yawn) cooked just right, not even a hint of the dryness you see a lot with chops. The Creamed Brussels Sprouts were great but I had eaten myself sick at this point so I had to admit defeat. Portions were big enough that I had plenty in the take home container for a whole meal the next day. I wanted to try the amazing looking pie but needed to be able to fit through the door to go home. Next time for sure. Service was really good. The server was laid back and quick with recommendations that she could back up instead of the standard "I like it" you get. I was shocked at the reasonable prices. These days $20 for a mediocre burger is standard so I couldn't believe the quality of food for the price. Our running joke is that once a restaurant starts laminating their menus, the quality is about to tank so I'm keeping my fingers crossed theirs steer clear. It's independently owned by the same people that own Barntown Brewing a few doors down. We will definitely try that out based on our experience here. My only critique is that they serve Pepsi instead of Coke. Seems like DSM leans that way which breaks my heart. My southern roots and common sense keep me loyal to Coca Cola. Where I grew up when you order a Coke the server asks what kind of Coke because it's just what you call every soft drink. Go. Go tonight. You won't regret it.

We started our meals with a glass of beer, then ordered our dinners. Tonight, my wife opted for the Sweet Potato Gnocchi with grilled shrimp (see picture) - at our server Chelsea's suggestion (Chelsea was great). While I usually prefer trying different dishes vs. ordering what I've had before, it was Wednesday and I'm a sucker for specials...so again opted for Walleye Wednesday (see picture). While we both enjoyed both dishes after sharing tastes of each, the highlight of the meal was the Campfire Pie (that Chelsea recommended) along with a scoop of ice cream (at our neighbor's suggestion). Check it out in the picture and be sure to give it a try!

Bar orders were slow as they were apparently training a new bartender. My wife splurged and got the Bison Filet Stir Fry -- delicious! On the higher end of the menu pricing at $36 (4/24). I got the Feta + Herb Crusted Salmon. Also, quite tasty and perfectly cooked. We did also use the Yelp Check-In for a free appetizer (choice of wings or croquettes at our visit). We got the croquettes, and they are very tasty! We took half of them home for yet another meal. Prices here are a bit on the high side for the DSM area in this type of venue. If the service was as consistently good as the food I wouldn't notice, but since it's not quite up to par at times, I do tend to remember.
