This is your standard American Chinese food place. Nothing special but solid food if that is what you are looking for. I have been here over a dozen times and each time it's consistent. There is two tables that are really fir waiting not to sit and eat. Standard dishes we get are the egg foo young, boneless spareribs and then something else but always those two and they are always consistent. The egg roll was extra crispy today which I fully enjoyed. (The shrimp with lobster sauce is a white sauce, which if you're from the north east that might not be your jam) I would recommend for any standard American Chinese dish and you can't beat their lunch specials. Wish they had moo shu pork but they don't as it's hard to keep the vegetables fresh per the owner. I can appreciate that. read more

I went to this restaurant to get some Chinese food that I had been craving all week. It was a Sunday night and they were still open. I ordered vegetable egg foo yung and vegetable mei fun noodles. Both dishes were delicious. The noodles were perfectly seasoned not too spicy with a good amount of tender veggies. The egg foo yung which came three to the order were perfectly done. The sauce was rather tasty and there was enough for the dish. There was also an order of white rice which meant I didn't have to cook rice at home. There are surprisingly a lot of really good Chinese restaurants in the Spring Hill area, but we drive from Hudson to get takeout from here. Just recently discovered this place, so we have yet to run through the menu. What we've had has been outstanding ! I'm an egg foo yung fanatic, and theirs is the best I've had in a very long time. The hot and sour soup is amazing, the best I've ever had. They also serve the biggest and best dumplings in this area(fried or steamed).The Singapore noodles and curry chicken are solid also. read more

The shrimp fried rice was bland and lacked eggs. The chicken chow fun had vermicelli noodles and did have eggs. The egg rolls tasted like car exhaust. The spicy wontons with peanut sauce were underdone. Every sauce and extra is nickel and dimed. Dine-in was over 80 degrees. Service was robotic and even witnessed a fellow customer who had to haggle to get his takeout fixed to order. Ambiance included sticky tables and no music. Horrible from beginning to end. read more

Our go-to for take out Chinese. We have had many items off the menu and loved every one of them. Noodles are always done to perfection and veggies are fresh and crisp. The best bang for the $$ are the specials which come in a large assortment and include fried rice and an eggroll, we always get an additional egg roll. The food is good. The owner is great. They have gotten our business for a long time. They have an employee who is rude, condescending, disrespectful and we will not be going back. An error was made on the order when I asked to see the receipt she became nasty. When my husband called her out on her attitude she became ghetto shrugging her shoulders saying she did not care. Reminded me of inmate behavior. As much as I like the owner we will not be going back. The owner never asked her to be quiet. She just apologized for the rude behavior explaining her employee had just gotten into an argument with another customer. That was not our fault. I was not being mean. This restaurant is located in the Publix shopping center with the Walgreens near the Glen Lakes subdivision in Hernando county. I have tied 5 different chinese restaurants in Citrus county before finding our go-to restaurant now. We tried the lunch combo's of Cashew chicken, Sesame chicken, and Egg pork foo young. All the food was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The fried rice was good (not greasy). The egg pork foo young was delicious with meat in it you can really taste. Both the egg rolls and spring rolls were delicious. Also ordered hot and sour soup and the wonton soup, very flavorful. The hot and sour soup had chicken strips in it, very good. Since I live in the southern part of Citrus county this is actually an easier drive to get to than fighting the traffic going North into Citrus, Very happy with our takeout. read more

Consistently good quality food. Wait time is minimal. Staff is friendly and receipts are provided. They accept card and cash. I primarily order over the phone and pick up the order. Orders have always been correct. Quantity of food is good. The fried rice and lo mein noodles are better than other local restaurants of the type. We also order in the late evening around 9pm and food is fresh. Seems odd to say that but I say it because other Chinese food locations have been not as good in the late evening. Restaurant is always clean, well lit, and parking lot is in a well lit plaza. No complaints, always happy with order, and will return again soon. A+ read more

Since moving to Spring Hill this would be our 2nd attempt at trying local Chinese (1st was Kirin... King Chef is MUCH better). We ordered Szech. Beef, Lo Mein, & spring rolls: The Szech. Beef had decent flavor but slightly too much "heat" that took away from overall flavor (but again it was decent) The Lo Mein was also decent ( but could use a little more flavor) The Spring Rolls were really good, they were crispy and not greasy at all. This all said the woman who was the "bridge" between the cashier & the kitchen staff was awful. Screaming and yelling at the staff (in front of customers) over missed communication/order errors was a complete turn off. We were embarrassed for the staff and for her lack of any professional customer service skills. The yelling voice directed to staff was also directed to customers making /picking up orders and completely disrespectful. It was obvious she cannot handle stress and more, there is no organized process. If she is the owner she should focus on that and yell at herself for things falling apart and not toward everyone else or in front of customers. That behavior has us back to searching for another restaurant next time read more

I've been searching for a while to find Chinese food as good as this. The vegetables have a soft crispness that speaks for how fresh they are. The sauce is made with real garlic, and isn't the jelly-like consistency of cheaper take-out places. The batter on the chicken was light and had the right amount of crunch. The noodles were springy and delicious. Overall, they made this food quickly and the price was about average for this type of restaurant. I strongly recommend the vegetable lo mein. read more

Third or fourth Chinese take-out/ dine-in (limited seating of 5 tables) in this Publix strip center located on Hwy.19/Commercial Way Restaurant has been cleaned up by its new young owners which is a big improvement over previous operators. Writing this review after a two take out dinners during opening week and a luncheon take out today. Curry Chicken dinner was very good. Big pieces of chicken with various veggies and excellent fried rice. My wife enjoyed sweet & sour shrimp again very good and a large portion. Probably 30 luncheon specials (typical) from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday to Saturday with prices from $5.99 to $6.55. Lunch specials are served with pork fried rice & soda, egg roll an additional 50 cents. In my opinion one lunch special (unless you are really hungry) is enough for two. One of the top Chinese restaurants in the area. If a Chinese establishment is to succeed around here they must have the "New York Style" Chinese sub line on their menu. King Chef does and the bottom line is that after several mishaps in this location this restaurant will survive as the food is good and the restaurant is clean. read more

Just bought food for my whole family from here and they got my order wrong. I got orange chicken for my 2 year old and they gave us general Tao's chicken which was spicy. We called to see if we could get what we ordered and they said they gave us the right thing but everything on the menu is spicy. My daughter is 2 and cant handle spicy food at all. They didn't apologize for it and said there was nothing they could do. Never going back there! read more

Since moving to homosassa I've been searching for good Chinese food and decided to make the drive to king chef... definitely not worth the drive or the money. Up charge for an egg roll with the lunch special, krab Rangoon was hard and the sweet and sour chicken once cooled becomes hard and chewy this place is just not any good especially compared to my old regular Chinese food restaurant. Only gave me one half full sweet and sour sauce to be used with an entire order of sweet and sour chicken and an order of krab Rangoon. The cabbage inside the egg roll was soggy and tasted old rendering it inedible.... Now I know after trying king chef the one time that it will not become my usual Chinese spot and will not be returning. read more

BEWARE!! Went to this place yesterday for a carry-out order after work. Ordered our food which wasn't bad tasting. Swiped our debit to pay for the meal only later to realize they have some sort of DEBIT SCAM. Transactions have been coming out of our bank acct since last night a few of them were $15 some were $1-$4. A total of 23 transactions we had reported to our bank as fraudulent. I've been down here for three years from NY and I was so happy to find this restaurant. It's a great family-owned and operated place. The food is great and the people are so friendly and welcoming. King Chef has terrific, family Chinese food! We had various dishes and all were superb.

I've seen quite a few Chinese restaurants come and go in this location, but as we were walking into publix to go grocery shopping I could smell the food coming from all the way down the strip, so we decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed! We usually order from Golden Wok on Mariner, King Chef is much closer and very comparable. We got the large orange chicken and large pork lo mein. The orange chicken was delicious and there weren't any pieces that were 90% breading and 10% chicken like many of the Chinese restaurants around. It was fresh and flavorful. The lo mein could be a little more flavorful but it was still good. We will be back! We're happy to have a nice and clean Chinese restaurant so close to home. I saw an old review about problems with the card machine and will be keeping an eye on our bank account for that. If I have any issues with it, I'll update this. If not, I definitely recommend you try this place out! read more

If I was from Florida, I might have given it 4 stars. But, being from the San Francisco area, where we have amazing Asian food, that's what I compared it to.
