Buffet Palace is the most impressive Chinese buffet in Tulsa. So many food options and selections out of all the buffets. If I want Chinese buffet, I would go here over anywhere else. I came on a Monday night and the restaurant was not too busy. The food was in abundance, mostly fresh. Some dishes have been out for a while such as the green beans and the mussels. Some dishes tasted great while others missed the mark. The hot & sour soup tasted neither hot nor sour. The egg drop soup was a little salty. The spicy seafood soup was the best of the soups. Steamed fish was great so were their fresh fruits and vegetables. The restaurant looks nice with a good layout, seatings around the buffet area. It's very spacious and comfy. Avoid this place. The service was already disappointing, but what stood out more was how they handle billing. They added a 2.99% "service fee" to my transaction, and their posted notice clearly states that this fee applies to both credit and debit cards. That's where the issue is--debit card transactions are not supposed to be surcharged under card network rules. Their sign even tells customers to avoid the fee by paying cash, which confirms this is being applied broadly to all card payments. When I brought this to their attention, it was dismissed without any effort to explain or correct it. Transparency matters. If a business is going to add fees, they should at least follow the rules and clearly apply them correctly. Bad food. Slimy boiled shrimp. Chicken tastes foul. All the fried foods are soggy/chewy. Even the fried corn nuggets taste bad. I always fear food poisoning when I go here. I've eaten here 4 times and every time I walk out hungry (after spitting out food) and angry because the food is gross. I work nearby and keep forgetting how bad it is. Maybe if you stick with the grill, you'll be ok. This is a great place to go if you're on a diet, because you'll leave after eating almost nothing. My husband and used to come here often due to convenience. First time I tried it was decent for the no wait time and food was changed regularly the last year we've tried at least 4 times trying to give them chance after chance to prove it was just a bad night the last time was about a month ago I actually had to ask for refund the manager was very polite and as I showed them the rock hard eggrolls and dry paper-like chicken on the stick that was enough for them to say they had no idea that the food was that bad and blamed it on the kitchen. Be curious and try lots of different options. Some of the foods were bland or tough like the bbq pork. Some food items are mislabeled (labeled as steak but was some kind of apple roll). My wife and I have decided that we really like this restaurant. We've been there during the week as well as weekends. We've been for dinner and for lunch. Every time we go, the food is fresh, hot, and they have a large variety of items. They also have a hibachi bar and the hibachi is really really good. They also have sushi, which is good. They have crawfish and a lot of seafood offerings. They have really good potsticker dumplings. All of their food is exceptional. They have black pepper chicken with jalapeños on the buffet, which is really good also. This is the best Chinese buffet that we've been to Oklahoma. They are constantly going out and changing out the serving utensils to keep them clean, and they are continually bringing out a new food to the buffet If you get there before 3:30 PM, it still considered the lunch buffet. So, yesterday afternoon about 4:30, a friend invited me to eat dinner here. I very much enjoy Asian Buffets, the vast overall selection and each restaurant's twist on favorite items. I expected a fun evening. Lol, first, after paying, we asked the guy at the register what was best and he said "I don't eat here". Hmmmm, a lady walked us to a table, I asked what her favorite dish here was, to which she replied "I don't eat here ". We should have demanded a refund at that point - by the way, there is a reason you must pay first. First plate I selected some lshrimp, some chicken wings, dumplings, low mein - none of it was to write to mom about. Second plate spring rolls, egg rolls, sweet/sour chicken and a bit of pepper chicken - repeated results except the pepper chicken was okay. Chicken wasn't great but good enough (certainly by comparison of other previously selected items) that on plat three I picked a bit more of this and some mushroom chicken and broccoli beef. How can this place stay in business? Seriously, one item out of ten was palatable. Anyway, got home about 5:45 - at 9:30 my stomach begins rumbling, barely make it to tge bathroom, diarrhea hits... ok, go lay down and within seconds back to the bathroom - 20 minutes later I'm grabbing a trash can and heading to the bathroom again - these later two activities repeat about six more times until 1:30 or 2:00 am - although vomiting ceases, stomach doesn't settle until about noon. Epic fail! Not sure it was food poisoning nor from this place but having been my experience, coincidences are rare. Want a buffet to remember - come here! This place was really disgusting, food wasn't in the right place, the bathrooms were really bad, my family got food poisoning from this place. I walked into the bathroom and there was carvings on the stall door, garbage everywhere, wires hanging down from the ceiling and the mirror looked like it came from a broken down shack. The walls are not done and saw mold coming out of them. There was lightbulbs on the lights that were dead and burnt out and cobwebs everywhere. The sushi tasted like it came out of a baby's butt and it was falling apart on the display. The floor was disgusting and not swept and there was random egg rolls on the counters/shelves. New buffets get me excited, not gonna lie. When I heard this place was new and actually DECENT from someone who's food taste I trust, I was even more excited. However, this ended up being another disappointing Chinese buffet. What REALLY excited me about this place was how there was SUSHI included - and decent sushi I heard. When I went for dinner on a Saturday night, the sushi selection was lackluster. It was good, but the sushi chef didn't use fresh fish. It was all imitation crab meat/an imitation crab meat mixture. The food on the buffet was good, but pretty much like any other Chinese buffet. Nothing really stood out as "the BEST ____ in Tulsa." One plus, though, was their ice cream machine!!! The ice cream was actually decently solid, unlike most other buffets that have ice cream with a diarrhea-type consistency. Service kinda sucked. Our waiter was good at picking up the used plates, but water cups were left empty until I had to flag him down to refill them. The first thing I tried was honey chicken because how do you screw up honey chicken but nope it was awful and the rice was so bad a little bit sitting at the next table spit it out and told his parents he couldn't eat it. I travel extensively and seek out these Hibachi grills. I don't do buffets because I prefer to select my own items and have them cooked. I rarely add meat, chicken or shrimp, so my concoction is all veggies. Limited selection of sushi and California rolls, but the rolls here were slightly above average. No spicy Tuna rolls, but not bad quality. Lots of good looking buffet items. The stuffed shrimp were very good, as were the sauteed green beans and spring rolls. Those were the only buffet items I tried. The Hibachi cook hit a home run. Lots of sauce selections, and he explained them all. The veggies were perfectly cooked in a delicious combo of garlic, oil and Mongolian sauce. Server was very attentive. Excellent service. Music was pleasant. Most of these places play terrible music. The food was luke warm at best Appeared to have been on buffet since they opened and turned down after lunch and then turned back up for dinner. The soup was luke warm also. Chicken wings were dry. The shrimp was slimy. The ribs were good would have been better if they were hot. The boiled shrimp was cold as it should have been. I informed the cashier of the problems all she could do was touch the sides of the buffet and say it was temp. was hotter than required. She should have checked the temps, which was too much trouble or she didn't know how. I guess I was lucky not getting sick yet !!! Walking up to the front door there is a smell of rotten catfish which turned my stomach , but we went in anyway, paid for the buffet and the food had weird flavors , like didn't taste like it should've and so we didn't eat very much. The pudding was sour the ice cream was grainy, crab was brittle(got bits of shell in every bite), the stuffed shrimp tasted like vomit, and even the pears had started to ferment. Nothing tasted good. We made a complaint to the manager, but they would not give us a full refund. Only after talking for a while, amid the manager ignoring us to ring up new customers would she refund $20(out of $55), claiming we were there for too long. II had heard good things about this place, but sadly, they were not true. The food is unbelievably low-grade. I tried almost everything, and it was all cold to barely warm, poor quality, cheap "food" to start with, and then it was not prepared well. I have never eaten somewhere before where I spit out more of the food into a napkin than I ate. A lot of the food tasted like they threw it from the freezer right into a fryer. The sesame chicken (usually my favorite) was 10% "chicken" (I hope) and 90% filler? dough? Fiberfill from a pillow? I am not sure what it was. The pieces looked huge, but had almost nothing in them. Chicken on a stick was almost jerky, it was so dried out and hard. "Beef"dishes were so tough and chewy, you couldn't swallow them. Rice was so dried out soy sauce could not save it.. Fish had poor consistency and funny taste. I checked out the "Hibachi grill" area and it was slim pickins there too. The meat was razor thin, looked like it was partially frozen still and had a LOT of fat in it. You could not have paid me to try the sushi by this point. But whoa boy - you can get hot dogs in batter! Ancient Chinese secret, huh? The ice cream was a weird combination of soft serve and whipped cream I had never seen before. The only things I could stomach at all were the hot & sour soup and the "Bourbon Chicken" which wasn't great (I sure didn't taste where the "Bourbon" part was)- it was just thigh pieces with a lot of fat on them - but it did have an OK grilled flavor. Unfortunately, everyone else must have thought so too, because they were out of it most of the time. The funniest thing I saw there was this guy loading up his plate with lime jello. My personal buffet philosophy is to get stuff I normally can't make at home for 50 cents, but that's just me. After eating this stuff, I began to see where he was coming from. Then there was this one woman who had loaded up one plate with a ton of "hot" food, then went to the salad bar for her 2nd plate before she sat down! So the barely warm food would have been colder than her salad by the time she got to it. Made no sense. I think she thought she was only allowed one trip.
