Just had a late lunch here before their lunch service closed at 3pm. And all I can say is wow, I highly recommend. Majority of their rolls have some crafty sauces and unique elements. Their rolls definitely aren't cheap, but I think they are creative and worth it. I'm limiting carbs so I got my rolls with no rice and wrapped in cucumber (Naruto style $4 extra though) and I was very pleased!! The place is owned by the sushi chefs and you can tell!! The rolls tasted good, but they were so small in comparison to price! And the waiter was terrible! Rude, not helpful and acted like we shouldn't even be there. Never checked to see if everything was okay or if we needed something... our kids had to go find him for a refill after waiting forever. No one else was offered refills and we all needed them. I don't leave bad reviews but this place needs improvement! We eat a LOT of sushi etc, weekly, sometimes multiple and always looking for new places to try. Will not return to this one. We had lunch here New Year's Day. They don't have lunch specials on holidays, but we were able to get the same lunch we usually get for $7 more. We each got 5 pieces of nigiri, a California roll, and a choice of miso soup or salad. We got miso soup but next time we will get salad. I haven't tried a lot of sushi places in Tulsa yet, but I would say Maguro is the top place in my book so far. The fish is fresh and tasty and thank goodness the tuna didn't look neon pink! They don't overstuff the rice like most places, which gives you the appearance that you're getting your moneys worth, but that messes up the fish to rice ratio and thus less quality taste. I was also happy to see that their rolls didn't have a ton of cream cheese on it like some other restaurants around here. In addition, the mimosa soup wasn't watered down and had substantial umami flavor. Overall, quite happy with the experience and the service was friendly and prompt. read more

The sashimi & nigiri here is to die for, the eel & mackerel specifically are so delicious & quite possibly the best I've had in Tulsa. We started with the salmon bite appetizer and it was a weird fusion dish but it worked and tasted so well, I wish I had a few more bites of it! While dining, a staff member identified as Zoe, who was not our assigned server, approached our table and began engaging the individual I was with in a personal conversation that lasted several minutes. The conversation was unrelated to service and involved her discussing personal issues, including what she described as a situation involving a stalker. During this interaction, she did not acknowledge me as a guest at the table, which was both uncomfortable and dismissive. The situation became more disruptive when she returned to the table a second time and again diverted attention away from our dining experience. This behavior was highly inappropriate in a restaurant setting. Staff should not be engaging guests in extended personal conversations, especially those involving sensitive or alarming topics, nor should they insert themselves into a guest's private dining experience in a way that disrupts it. What should have been an enjoyable outing was negatively impacted by this interaction. I am bringing this to your attention so it can be addressed appropriately and does not happen to other guests in the future. read more

The service is 9 out of 10 times fantastic, today Kelsey was our waitress and she let s in on a Japanese tradition...:it's considered bad luck to pour your own drink! She diligently poured Rick's saki again and again! I have not been to too many sushi bars in the Tulsa area. So far I feel like Maguro Sushi is the best in Tulsa. The avocado salad is delicious. Portion size is small, seriously it's really small. The black samurai roll is good. I don't like how there is cooked meat in the middle. It's disappointing when the menu lists certain rolls as raw but what you get is a mixed product. I was informed by the server that they do have all raw sushi but limited options. Another downside about Maguro Sushi is the cost, a little pricey and worst of all I am not even full afterward. Four stars is a rave review for me for a sushi place, spoiled by sushi in other parts of the world. This is a great sushi place in Tulsa. First of all it's pretty casual, strip mall restaurant with a very limited sushi bar area to sit. The seating is incredibly comfortable with booths and incredibly comfy chairs! I went in at lunchtime and I had a beer and lunch special #2 For a cool $38. So bring your wallet and your credit card. That being said, the quality of the fish was excellent for being nowhere near the sea. And the size for the L2 lunch special was quite large! I received four pieces of sashimi, five pieces of nigiri, and six avocado rolls. Plenty of food, and they also include a bowl of miso soup and a salad with the lunch special. It is chef selection and I told them I liked everything and to go to town. If you are a newbie sushi eater, I would recommend maguro - Also known as fatty or red tuna, The Ebi shrimp, and the avocado rolls were wonderful!
