So the next step was to get our son signed up (he was 5 at the time). The dance studio is located in Duluth with plenty of parking and a constant flow of parents/kids. But don't think of this as another kids camp - the parents and kids here are committed to learning the art. They have a few dance sessions per time slot and usually operate only on the weekends. Most instructors are current students, which makes it easier (less intimidating) for those learning. While they offer zoom classes if you are traveling, in-person classes are the best to pick up some of the instant feedback and nuances with each step. My son has been enjoying this classes and has even performed at one recital (oh yes, they do a recital every summer for those who sign up for the spring classes). Kruti is a well-run studio. From operations, logistics, planning, and even getting outfits for the recital - kudos to the team. We've liked this place so much that our entire family is now at Kruti leaning some new dance moves. I met…read moreShemoni Parekh in college more than two decades ago and was always mesmerized when I saw a Kruti dance performance on stage at our annual Holi shows. Over the years, I've seen the Kruti Dance Academy grow in many ways. They made the wildcard round in NBC's America's Got Talent, performed in a reality TV show called Chak Dhoom Dhoom in India on Colors TV, and paraded through the streets of New York City during the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. So it was only natural for me to fulfil a lifelong dream -- to not just watch such amazing dances but also learn and become part of the dance family. That's why I decided at the age of 39, I would enroll in Kruti Dance Academy just as we were on the tail end of the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the past few years, I feel much more confident, energized, motivated and comfortable as a dancer on stage -- a skill I never had! The school puts on Broadway quality dance shows every year with finesse, vibrance and flawless execution. I share my own story to inspire other people to never use age as a number to pause your dreams. Kruti Dance Academy has classes in person in Atlanta, GA and also virtual zoom classes where students can join from all over the world. You can also learn just to learn and not worry about performing at a recital. And most importantly, our Adult Bollywood dance class has helped me create some great friends who share a united passion for dance! This past year, I also added Bharatnatyam (classical Indian dance) to the repertoire. What a fun, inexpensive way to spend an evening while supporting local theater!…read more Last night we enjoyed Fifth Row Center's production of Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap presented at The Springs Church on Spout Springs Road in Flowery Branch. This was my first Fifth Row Center experience and I have to say that I was quite impressed. This is wonderful community theater and we in the area should be supporting these events. The audience was small and the venue certainly was able to handle a larger crowd. The presentation is for several days so we hope more will attend. It did seem as though most of the audience was comprised of friends and family. Since I am not here to review the play, but the theater company itself, I will stay away from a play review....though we thoroughly enjoyed it! Fifth Row Center is located on Main St. in Flowery Branch where they have classes, rehearsals, etc. and welcome anyone to come in to audition. My only real complaint is the fact that there didn't seem to be too much advertising for this production. Unless we missed anything else, the only way we found out about this was a large sign posted at a nearby busy intersection. I never noticed any newspaper ads or anything else around town. Maybe I don't get out much or maybe it just wasn't there. At any rate, my suggestion would be to advertise the heck out of their productions in hopes of gaining loyal patrons. Our group certainly will now be regular attendees when the production interests us. Best of luck to Fifth Row Center. We hope the community will come out and support this endeavor and help keep it running.

These ladies know how to belly dance!…read more We had the pleasure of seeing them perform at Nicola's Restaurant in their first full length show and they did not disappoint! They had a troupe of dancers of every experience level there and their dancing incorporates a little burlesque, tribal, belly dancing, jazz/funk and probably almost every other kind of dancing! They used fire, swords, silk sheets and of course all the normal belly dance accouterments that you might know like scarves, coin chains, bindhi's and so on. The dancers all performed wonderfully and were mesmerizing to watch. Oracle and Carolanne were my personal favorites to watch because it seemed like they really got into their routines (not that the others didn't mind you, but these two really seemed to have a knack for moving their hips in just the right way you would think of a belly dancer moving!) They did two "sets" with each set comprised of about 8 different dances with all different dancers circulating between the dance numbers. These ladies truly know how to work a room. Everyone was watching intently, mesmerized you might say, and everyone looked as if they were having a great time. At the end of their show, they let everyone get out in the middle of the room and dance to the music. Oh, and the music was great as well! Some very nice middle eastern themed music for some of the numbers, but they also had some Squirrel Nut Zippers and one song from Godsmack (Voodoo! One of my favorites!) I would highly recommend checking these ladies out when they have another show! They are worth watching!
