He did not care for the coffee, he said it was ordinary. He liked his omelette, but the potatoes were under seasoned. I had the pastrami open face sandwich with gravy. The meat was cold. I did not eat it. I ordered a freshly squeezed orange juice, and it was very good. The onion rings were tasty. I ordered takeout breakfast for my mother-in-law and son. I also ordered the chicken and waffle to go. The to go food was good. Service was good. The server stopped by often. I wish she had offered to remove the food as I did not like it. We sat at the bar and had great service from a young lady named Harper. Very professional and nice and a great representative for Customer Service for Hobo's. She said she has been there four years since they opened. We both had a salad. My usual with the 'build your own' option, going with iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes , avocado, croutons add the salmon for protection option all with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. We both tried the baked beans for a side and found them just right - not too sweet with just the right amount of "porkiness" to enhance the flavor. Service was quick, efficient, friendly and helpful. The location is exactly what comes to mind when you think about a BBQ restaurant in the downtown of a small town: clean, homey, but definitely an older building with the quirks that brings. I understand policies exist, but there should be room for compassion--especially when it involves a young child. It felt unnecessarily rigid and frankly unkind. A small act of understanding would have gone a long way, and instead, we were left scrambling and stressed. Because of this experience, I won't be returning, and I'd caution other families about how situations like this are handled here.
