Went here for breakfast with my dining mate. The atmosphere comfortable but certainly needs an update with decore . Our table was wobbly and we had to move it into a stable position. Nice extensive menu and very accomadating waitress. I read some negative reviews on the food and service but our breakfast was delicious and when we paid our check we were asked how we enjoyed our breakfast. We both ordered a 3 egg omelet ( Greek and Vegetarian) plus coffee . I asked for sliced tomatoes instead of potatoes. Food came out hot, plated nicely. Up until today my wife and I ate here an average once every five days. As always the food was delicious and timely to the table but for some time now the service was atrocious. The short version of events are as follows (1) never received not was asked if I needed a second cup of coffee (2) to that point we were never asked how our meal was (3) never received a bill ot doggie bag (4) went the front to cash out and was yelled at for not having a bill (5) staff member physically grabbed my wife to lead her to our table to see who our server was -she was the one who actually swatted us- (6) another waitress while all this was going on informed us our waitress was known to be terrible (7) again, the person who cashe'd us out -I assume was the actual owner- was beyond rude and indifferent (8) while we left the hostess condescendingly yelled happy thanksgiving and that Jesus loves us. I'm not one to speak in absolutes but after eating there 30-40 times this local resident will not be back. read more

However, when you go in, you see some food on the floors so I felt a little put off by it. No Napkins on the tables so you have to ask for it . Salad definitely looks homemade. Looks like someone threw it together and I wish the salad filled the whole plate and that it wasn't served on a plate with chipped edges. The fried pickles were good but I didn't expect it to be whole like that and not chip like. The spaghetti was alright but the sauce wasn't acidic so I had to add salt from the table Good portion. A real, old-time three meal a day eatery with a menu that has no end and servers who are constantly moving to take care of hungry customers. It is VERY popular so parking can sometimes be bothersome, but it always seems to work out. Regardless of the time of day, it looks crowded, but don't be scared...you will get in. My family celebrated Valentine's Day last night at this great diner. We have been there a dozen times before and always meant to write a review but forgot to do so. One does not come here for the decor, which is very humble. One comes here for the great food! We live in Steele Creek, in southwest Charlotte,and have to drive for about twenty minutes to get here, But it is well worth it! I always order the baked Lasagna. I grew up in NYC and went many times to Little Italy. I have also traveled to many cities in Italy over the years. But, I can tell anyone reading this review that I never had a better Lasagna anywhere in the world than in this humble restaurant! I was in the mood for fried shrimp and because of my now new health issues....I have to be careful with what I eat. On their menu they have "grilled flounder". However, the server told me they couldn't grill the flounder. ? I was too tired to even debate her answer. The "jumbo" shrimp, flounder and fried squash was all was coated in a "batter". The flounder was way too salty. Not my liking. The Jumbo battered shrimp was great!!! The squash was tasty & cooked to perfection. Their unsweetened ice t with lemon (not shown) is always freshly brewed & tasty. It's the BEST I've tasted in Rock Hill. The service was great, forgot her name, but she was a newly hired server with blonde hair. Excellent service. I also ordered "vegetable" soup to go, not shown either. I highly recommend their soup!! This is a cute diner in RH that offers a breakfast and a lunch/dinner menu. Despite the parking lot looking pretty full, there was no waiting for a table. The server promptly took our drink and food order. Even though it looked busy, our meals came out fast. The food was hot and the fries crispy. My husband had a BBQ sandwich which was huge! The coleslaw was ok. I had the patty melt. It came with two 5 oz burgers and I took one off because it was really fine with just one. So yummy on rye bread with grilled onions and cheese. We enjoyed this place if only for the nostalgia of it. It seems to be in an old Shoney's building and offers a menu you would expect from a southern diner/ "meat and 3" kind of restaurant. The menu was extensive but offered a lot that one would expect. We decided to stick to the club sandwiches as we missed breakfast and didn't want to eat anything super heavy in the middle of the day. They were a solid option and still a pretty substantial meal. I was able to swap out the fries for one of the daily vegetables which is always a plus. I opted for the fried okra which was ok. A little cold by the time I received it but not bad. The club itself was solid. For the price, I would've appreciated a little higher quality deli meat but the bacon was cooked well and everything was proportional so I can't complain. Our waitress was very nice and on top of things. The place was packed so it was a little loud but not bad. Mainly it seemed to be the staff hanging out nearby that were the loudest. The loud swearing caught me a little off guard when I'm not usually phased by things like that, so I imagine the older population that seems to make up the majority of their customer base doesn't exactly appreciate it. Overall though, the place is pretty casual so I imagine the professional standards are pretty casual as well. It was a solid option for a decent meal. This is the standard by which all diners should be measured. The do breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have individual daily specials for each meal time and there are many great choices. I stopped in for lunch on a busy Friday and was immediately seated. Even at just after 11am they were getting busy. My server was Jennifer and just the sweetest and nicest southern lady, I've met in Rock Hill. I had the broiled salmon with okra and squash. Oh my, just too good to put into words. They add the choice of dinner rolls or corn bread and the corn bread was fresh and tasty. They also had a few hush puppies, I mean come on, this is the south, right? All of it went down easy with a fresh and tasty glass of sweet tea. The quality, price, selection, portion size and the service easily sets this place apart. They have a nice big parking lot and if you go down to the traffic signal by the Publix you can get in and out easy without dealing with the busy Cherry Road traffic. read more

The hostess, for some reason seated a group of five men right next to us that were there as locals as I could tell they meet there often.
