customer Service is trash. If you need anything in the back dont hold your breathe, they will make you feel like a nuisance for asking.

Personally I wasn't bothered by this place. I love ACE, this store is huge and they already put in everything for the Christmas season the day after Halloween. Stuff here is quite affordable. They even had the right size air filters I needed. Definitely features a great variety of everything else for a handy man's job without searching through endless aisles. read more

Normally I really like this place. Today not so much. I placed a Pick Up in Store order early this morning. When noon rolled around and I hadn't heard from them I called the store. They hadn't even checked their online orders yet, and they had been open for four hours!!! Really?? What's the point of ordering online then?! So frustrating! read more

I called in advance to see if they carried the furniture lifting straps. I was told they have them. I get to the store and after some searching I finally located an employee and asked where they are. He directed me and explained how popular they are. Good stuff. Now the fun begins. I get to the register and the woman working is sitting on the counter talking on the phone to a family member. She sees me and gets up and still talking types in her password on register. Finally she decides to end her call and pay attention to the customer. I pay and then she procedes to tell me how tired she is and cannot function. For the love of god you are in customer service figure it out. The store itself is not bad. typical hardware store holding its own against the big boxes. Every Ace I have been to seems to be poorly staffed. read more

Everyone here is really nice and helpful. When I have a problem or can't find something, I usually just ask the first random person I find and every time that person has solved my problem. With it being a smaller store, they occasionally run out of stuff. Aside from that they almost always have what I need . If we are buying something big we may go to another store with more selection, but as a go to place this is it for us! read more

This place SUCKS!!!! Things clearly marked as one price get to register and different price pops up and they DON'T honor price on sign. Items marked as "on sale" but go to the counter to purchase the item and all of a sudden that item isn't included in the sale. Such bullshit. Above & beyond!! We ordered a "Char-broil " thru the internet. The factory they ordered it from did not send the grill, basically they canceled our transaction & did not tell us it was canceled. We reached out and spoke with Manager Chris Kucinsky, he apologized for the miscommunication from the Char-broil factory, re-ordered the item for us. But he amazingly offered to build it and deliver it to our home. Chris dropped it off personally and even threw a bag of charcoal. Was here to buy a craftsman 1/2 ratchet it was $36.99 and locked an employee called the manager to unlock it. I ask why it was locked up when all the sockets are unlocked for the taking. I was told it has to do with the value...funny there are other tools there that cost more and there not locked up. The most aggravating thing other than them assuming all of there customers are thefts it took the manager quite a while to just come over to the isle. read more

This store has the most unprofessional management that I have experienced in a while. Both the assistant manager and store manager share the same unprofessional attitude. It seems that they make up store policies depending on whom they want to help or not. There are no clear policies posted to support things they say. When asked to see such policy posted, was told "well it used to be there but I don't know where it is now " No apologies or professionalism at all...just borderline rudeness like they didn't want me in the store from the start of me asking for help. This store has tarnished my outlook on all of the ace hardware stores owned by lakeside or lake view. Either way I don't have time or patience to determine which stores are which so I will NOT give one more penny ever to another ace hardware store. They should appreciate the people coming out especially during Covid shutdowns. Menards, HomeDepot,Lowe's,Blain's farm and fleet, and Walmart are all VERY close and I chose to provide your store with my business. Not again!!!!I hope that this store closes down soon and ANY type of business that is more inclusive and professional to its customers replaces it. read more

Transparency with your customers will go a long way. I dropped off screens to be repaired at the beginning of August and was told it would take a month to complete. At that time I had debated if I even wanted to wait a month but since I was already there, I left them. A month and a half later I called to check on the status and was told that they had someone quit which backed things up, but they should be ready the following week. Called the following week and was told the same thing. Called today and not only are they still not ready, nobody can even confirm if they have an employee who is able to do the work. I am understanding that things happen, but if you are unable to do the work promised, you need to allow your customers the opportunity to make the choice to go elsewhere in a timely manner. I will now be picking up my screens and will never be shopping here again. read more

Manager has terrible manners and shouldn't be working retail. I tried to explain my problem with an axe I bought and I even called before I came in. She could not tell me over the phone if it had a warrenty or if they had a replacement handle. As soon as I walked in she gave me a terrible attitude. So I wasted an hour to find out what i could have been told over the phone. read more

I go to the Romeoville ace hardware for paint and small items. Everyone has always been helpful and courteous. I have never had an issue.

This store is a gem. I received great service from the woman who answered my phone call, to the floor manager, Chris who helped me out when I arrived. My propane tank was outdated and couldn't safely be refilled. He found me an adaptor that I could now use on a current tank and keep refilling. He then installed it on the tank. I very much appreciated the help. read more

I visited this store the other day and was made to feel very uncomfortable. For anyone who has ever experienced someone trying to make you feel stupid or intentionally being rude in a nice way, then you'll know what I felt.
