I'm giving it a 1 because of their employee TAYLOR. She was literally a miserable employee- no smile. No interaction with my granddaughter, at all while stuffing her bear - below even the bare minimum effort to make this an enjoyable experience for her. I've been shopping there since my 25 year old was in kindergarten- it's always been such a fun experience and I was excited to take my 5 year old granddaughter for her FIRST ONE! Let me tell you it was such a total LET DOWN!!!! I have NO IDEA why that girl is working there she makes ZERO effort with the kids I watched her with the child before us and it was the same crappy attitude. Then at the register no eye contact. She had a sour look on her face the entire time. Spoke so low I had to ask her MULTIPLE TIMES to speak up so I could even hear her. What I thought would be a fun experience was literally boring and quite honestly a huge disappointment! What a great experience for the kiddos. My girls received a gift card for Xmas so that brought us into B-A-B for the first time, the environment was busy and positive. Exp: We were greeted by a very nice gal Mel once inside and moved our away around the store before settling on a Poppy & Toothless stuffy. They had so many options, we were also provided the current sale happening. After choosing we had options to chose a voice over for each stuffy, purchased one each for Poppy then Toothless, Mel assisted us in completing the process then guided us over to the "fill" line. Once there we were greeted by another employee, Vanessa. She chatted with each of my girls and was very upbeat and polite, just very sweet. Each stuffy was filled then a heart was chosen to place inside before being sewn up. Afterwards we headed to attire and accessories to clothe each. Process was fun and exciting for my girls. Price points were not too bad, considering the individualized fun. We ended up paying around $45 for each. Came here this weekend while shopping at the mall. My 9 year old and 12 year old used their own money to buy their bears. The overall experience was good but when checking out, the woman at the register (T) was friendly while she was asking if we'd like to buy the discount gift card, but once we said no, her demeanor towards us changed. When taking your bear, you can either pay a dollar for the box or get a shopping bag free. My daughter didn't want to spend anymore after already spending $35-ish so the lady put the bag on the counter for my daughter and then stepped back and had my daughter put the bear away. The lady watched her struggle to put it in the bag until we helped her. It just felt really rude. It was a disappointing end to a pleasurable experience. read more

We took our two toddlers who were excited to build their bear we saw there was one station open with two employees working the station so we got in one of the long lines after 45min of waiting once it got to us the employee told us she couldn't take us and 3 other people behind us cause she's doing a private party and that's why she has her own station which she was sharing a station with someone else. And she told us to wait at the end of the other line which was another 30-45 min wait. She took no initiative to help us or find a solution after seeing us and the 3 other customer waiting in line for 45 min just said wait at the end of the other line and walked away. Keep in mind there was no sign saying her line or station was for a private party nor did she make any effort to inform people getting in line it's a private party. A bit pricey just for a stuffed toy in my opinion, but a cool experience for kids to do at least once! For the first time in history, Build-A-Bear decided to do a "pay your own age" day and it ended up being a horrible idea because of the long lines (probably longer than some at Disneyland). To compensate, those that signed up for the bonus membership specifically for that day received $15 vouchers via email. Appreciate that a lot so I had to take my kid. First, you choose a bear or character from the wall. Next you get in line to stuff it; you can add cool things like sound and scents before the stuffing process. P.S. the cotton candy scent smelled so bomb we had to get it. My son was super excited and happy the entire time and thought it was cool how he put the heart inside (AKA his love) inside of the toy. Then you move on to the fluffing station and dressing room. Last thing on the agenda before paying is creating the birth certificate on the computer. This was not only my little ones first time but mine as well. If it were not for Faby, I would have walked out. Ri, the manager, was not personable and, in my opinion, very rude. She did not acknowledge me or my little ones really didn't say anything but the price to pay and when I asked why it was that price she just said...well you got the sound right. RUDE. This was my first time, and I had no idea how the birthday teddy worked or what the prices were since the screen wasn't working. My eldest didn't notice, which I am thankful for, but I do hope a general/district manager offers her some more training and reevaluate who is a manager and why. The whole crew for 8/6/2022 at this location was very kind,courteous and phenomenal towards me and my family. The wife and I took our girls to build-a-bear to get our daughter to build her own bear. Our daughter hated the process cause she hates loud noises like the stuffing machine and the bath sounds. The crew was very courteous and engaging towards our daughter even tho she was terrified of the machines. We even wanted this bunny from their mystery pull packets and we didn't get the bunny but they did trade the fox we pulled for the bunny. read more

Our first visit to this location was during the "Pay your own age" event this year. They did it a little bit differently by sending out Golden Tickets to select children via email. We had never attended one of these events in the past because of the ridiculous lines so I can only judge on our current experience. We arrived an hour early just in case and there was literally NO LINE! We were in and out in 15 minutes and my son was happy that he snagged his stegosaurus. The selection was great and there were only two that were excluded from the deal. You can't beat $6 for a Build A Bear! The event was organized and most of the staff was very helpful and friendly. My son was able to press the peddle to stuff the animal and the young man working with him was super kind and made his experience memorable.There was only one woman that wasn't smiling and didn't have the most welcoming demeanor and it seemed like she was in management. That would be the only reason I didn't give this review 4 stars. She was working the register and that was my last perception after leaving the store. Visiting this store is definitely a once... maybe twice a year event because it is a little spendy for a stuffed animal. BUT you're definitely paying for much more than an animal. It's an experience and the smile on your child's face is priceless when you leave. One last thing! If you're military they do offer a 10% discount which is awesome and appreciated. read more

When we were ready to stuff the "Bears" another young lady with short purple hair help us stuff them here's Why I rate this experience a one star, like I mentioned before I have purchased Multiple times from build a bear in the past I have taken my Younger sister (not at this location) So I know what to expect at the "stuffing Ceremony " ! So this girl I don't know if she was ready to go home or not feeling it but she literally just stuffed our bears ask my kids what heart they wanted made them kiss the heart and stuffed the heart in the bear and sewed it up, never asked us if we wanted a voice / sound , or a smell for our bears . while the kid next to us was getting the whole experience (from the nice blonde girl that explained to my husband the whole process. ) Even my husband noticed that this girl was in hurry to get us out . Gift card holders BEWARE!!! I went in with a $50 gift card with my daughter that she recieved from "the tooth fairy" when we went to pay finally the cashier tried to say it has $10 and put it away. I told her really $10? She said yes it says right here $10 but showing me no proof. She then took it out when I said "really because I purchased it myself nobody else gifted it to my daughter and it has $50 I have the reciept." She then said "let me check in the other register" she proceeded and clicked a few key and then like magic she said "oh yes here it say $50 not $10 I don't know why. She literally tried to scam me! Build A Bear has been kind of a new discovery for me. Since the Galleria at Tyler has been our "go-to" mall location the past couple of years, this interesting store was an interesting curiosity for me. One day I decided to stroll inside, after navigating through an obstacle course of children and parents I was able to get a feel for the whole vibe of the place. Simply put - its fun! The idea is awesome: build your own stuffed animal...customize it...dress it...even name it and issue it a "birth certificate" that will make it unique. Needless to say, totally AWESOME idea if your a parent, a kid or just young at heart. The workers there are very friendly - but sometimes you have to remind them to talk to you like an adult if you don't have children in tow with you. They have a steady core of stuffed animal shells you can build on, stuff, add scents to, add sounds to...even add a beating heart to when the chest is pressed! Add to that a rotating selection of seasonal animals of all kinds. Bunnies, bears, dragons, unicorns...you name it and they'll eventually have it. I've brought my wife and my mom here and they'd each built their own furry friends. I even indulged myself once and created my own one-of-a-kind blue dragon (love my lil' Ardy!) If you have a little kid, this is certainly a fun place to go! The prices are very reasonable as well. Sometimes the clothes are a lil pricey but they often have sales...and you can often find clothes for your creations cheap on Ebay! A true find for the arctophile in us all! read more

Went to the Build A Bear located at Tyler Mall in Riverside Ca and was treated horribly by the assistant manager Vanessa. She was rude, snotty, and told us she didn't care if we reached out to the company about her unprofessionalism. She made my whole family and party we brought with us feel very unwelcomed and very uncomfortable. Would never recommend this location to anyone. I can not believe someone would act this way towards a party with kids. Very disappointed and will never be coming back. Vanessa should never work near kids again and should be fired. read more

"STACIE" the cashier didn't even greet me once i walked to the register i had to literally say hello to her. UNBELIEVABLE!! This is a sweet, little store in the Galleria At Tyler mall. The staff is equally as sweet. We came here to buy a gift for our new grandson, carefully selecting the perfect plush, teddy bear 'skin' and voice box of choice to add to our creation. Mind you, we came in by ourselves, without our grandson. Still, an Associate managed to sucker us into doing some ritual that involved stuffing a satin heart inside it, kisses, hand motions, and wishes. After stuffing the bear, we were directed to the shower station to give the bear an air bath and brush down. Then, we moved onto the computer stations to create the bear's birth certificate and to give him a name. Although we felt a little silly doing all of this, we happily obliged. In some silly way, we believed that, if we followed the entire ritual and put our heart into everything we did, it would magically bring Bubby Bear to life. Bubby could then whisper into our grandson's ear every night and remind him just how much we love him, since we can't always be around. I don't know if that sounds creepy or cheesy, now that I typed it, but I think it's just plain SWEET. read more

Horrible party experience. Terrible customer service. We love build a Bear. We've had two parties here. 5 years ago our party here was so much fun! So we had another party a few months ago. The employee helping us handles timid and had no command of the group. There were tons of employees in store but she was handling our group on her own. The biggest thing is that she rushed us through our event. She kept telling me to have everyone check out, before we even had a chance to shop. Nearly all of the party guests had never been to build a Bear before. She stressed me, and rushed me so that I didn't even take pictures or really enjoy the party with my daughter. THEN I called customer service to complain and then wrote down my info. I've not received any phone calls or any attempt to rectify the situation. After waiting for weeks, maybe a month, I called AGAIN. I was basically told to keep waiting. I left a message for a manager 5 days ago and I still have no response. I had hoped Build a Bear would try to salvage our experience because we did love this place. But after me and party spent a significant amount of money, for a rushed experience, and NO customer service care after... I'm disappointed to say the least. read more

Brought my niece in because she loves this place. I personally think $85+ for a bear is ridiculous. This is about the experience and I understand that. She got money from great grandma so I told her go ahead get the 2 bears buy 1 get 1 for $10. I of the bears we put a song we dressed up and the other we really only got because of the promo. Nobody really stood out to be nice or give a good experience. When we where going to pay they told us if we didn't want to do a certificate. I helped her through the entire process and really the dress shoes and headband where simple so when Robert said $84.28 I was thinking highway robbery. However my niece seemed extremely happy so we payed and left. I looked at the receipt and noticed he charged me for putting a song on the second bear. I returned and told him we didn't. He demanded we bring the bear back I had to go get my niece and then he told me to get in line. I declined his attitude was so rude and uncalled for. My niece got upset because he squeezed the bear all over to make sure it didn't have a song. I was baffled he gave me the $9 back the experience turned so bad no apology nothing he was mad at me. I felt like we were left to wander around a bit without direction.In some settings I don't mind that, but when part of a stores experience (pricing) includes associate participation that's a problem. We were there an hour before closing and there were two employees and two guests.I mentioned that it was our first time there and instead of telling us the activities that were available I was told,"I couldn't tell." After the bear was returned to us I spied the bath and we kind of dumped the bear in there and gingerly used the foot pump (still not sure if customers are allowed to) then went to checkout.The recipient of the bear was happy and probably didn't notice the lack in service as much as I did.
