I was looking for a new front door and was recommended to see Roger at Builders Supply. He's the only one who handles that area. I came in to Builders Supply after not having a very good experience with one of the larger big box stores. I was a bit undecided and was looking for help. Roger was very patient with me and helped me choose a modern looking door as well as the hardware door knob and lock. It took a while to receive my door. Pretty much all these items are special order. I almost gave up but it finally came in and I had a professional install the door. Please excuse the missing drywall on the inside and stucco on the outside. We're doing a lot of remodeling at our home. I actually moved the door opening and removed a small window that was adjacent to the old door and had it centered from the outside entryway. I couldn't wait to share a review and took a few photos. The door I received through Roger at Builders Supply is a MUCH better quality item than the door I returned to HD. And not only that, but the cost of my door, door knob and lock combined through Roger at Builders Supply cost a little less for only a door and no hardware whatsoever I bought through HD. And the quality is MUCH better. The staff I dealt with to find Roger seemed polite and friendly as well. I have never purchased anything else from them but I plan on buying more doors with Roger in the future. read more

The industry is experiencing major delays and shortage of workers right now. With that said, Chris managed to get me multiple quotes in a timely manner and was willing to explore different type of doors with me (a lot of back and forth). Had a really good then a really bad experience yesterday. Whatever service person I talked to first, a man, name not known to me, was extremely helpful and pleasant. Then he sent me to talk to the "men" who are located down the stairs. What a group of lazy, obnoxious men they were; especially the small one. When I relayed what the "helpful" man had said, they told me he was a moron and didn't know what he was talking about. Thats my last visit EVER. read more

I am a contractor specializing in rehabbing older homes. I've used Builders Supply for almost 19 years. They have evolved over the years, sometimes better than others, but have been consistent as my lumber yard of choice. The big box stores may have items Builders doesn't stock, but they kick but over all items relating to lumber, custom doors and windows, hard to find plumbing parts and other items. I currently needed all new doors and windows for my current project. I got estimates from window companies, the big box stores, and Builders. Hands down Builders beat all others by a wide margin. Not only did my order get delivered (for free), but I had a problem (mine not theirs) with a sliding doors I ordered. Roger, who has been their go to guy for doors and windows forever, delta with my issue quickly and professionaly. Issue resolved in no time. I went in to buy a fruit picker, and found they had sold out. The sales person indicated they would be in stock the next day, so I telephoned at 3:00 p.m. the next day and they said they had them again. I went there immediately to find that they had either sold out again or didn't have them but told me they did. They had no concern whatsoever for my inconvenience and basically said "oh well, too bad". I left and went to True Value in Smoke Tree and found many in stock. However, they were $ 10.00 more than the Builder's flyer sale price. True Value immediately matched the price and were extremely nice about it. I left with a feeling they actually valued my business and they generously took more than half off the price of the item to match another store's sale price and please a customer. THEY HAVE A NEW, LOYAL CUSTOMER AND BUILDER'S SUPPLY WILL NEVER SEE ME AGAIN!!! I'D SEND AWAY FOR SOMETHING BY MAIL ORDER, OR PAY 50% MORE FOR IT ELSEWHERE JUST TO AVOID BUILDER'S SUPPLY. I posted a one star review sometime ago but it was a fair assessment at the time. It was at the height of the recession and the store had been sold and was in terrible condition. This store has come a long long ways since those dismal days when so many were going out of business -- they stuck with it. That alone says volumes about the help and the management. The plus sides of Builder's Supply are as its name suggests. They are the best lumber yard in the area. People like Ted Parker will find whatever you need, including exotic hard wood, and have it for you in short order. Their prices match or are, in some cases, better that the big box stores. And you can't outdo the fact that everyone will know you by your name in just a few visits. The salesmen both in the Pro Limber side and the hardware side are down to earth pros who are genuinely concerned about your project, no matter how small or how large. Jerry heads up the hardware side and as far as hardware they've got a pretty darn good selection and the shelves are well stocked. Paint matching and brand name brushes, rollers and the what have you's will help you finish your project without having to drive that extra 6 miles and back from Lowe's or Home Depot. Have been coming here for 20 years. First as a part-time resident. Now, finally, as a full-time resident (YAY!). They just don't make stores like this anymore with such personal and hometown service! Jerry is such a wonderful manager. Both he and Kirk, and other fine staff members, have guided me through tasks that I never thought I could ever accomplish on my own. Horrible customer service. You'd better hope you're a local, regular customer, otherwise you'll be treated as an annoyance. When I brought this to the attention of a more senior employee, he treated me with irritability. The customer service culture here is one of chastising ignorance. They want to deal with only their regulars. If you're from out of town looking for parts, you'd be better off going to a home depot or lowes, and that's saying a lot, because I hate them both. read more

To me this store is a hidden gem. In 2010 I bought a place in this area and started renovating it. At first I was heading to Home Depot and Lowes. Then I discovered Builders Supply. It is now my first choice. The store is split into two sections being a hardware store and a lumber yard. Not being a big-box store, they obviously carry less. So if you need it in 18 colors, you may want the big-box stores. However, the inventory is quite extensive; their prices are equal or better than the big-box stores; and the customer service is excellent. If they don't have it in stock, they will order it in. 99% of the time, Builders Supply has what I am looking for, or a good equivalent. The staff has always been helpful to me and the prices are good. Was disappointed when they had to downsize the store a few years ago, but completely understand why.
