Got item from this junk yard, asked attendant at least twice whether returns were accepted, they said yes, we do, just bring it within 30 days, cool, after 2 days returned with item cause it didn't fit, so asked same person for my refund, this time he says that he had forgotten to tell me that now cause a new business administration there is no refunds but STORE CREDITS. So beware they'll hide this fine print from you, so you pay for their junk and leave asap! in the end it's just a junk yard!

Great place for artists and those who enjoy decorating and home repair while preserving the original character of older buildings! A large assortment of windows, doors, sinks, toilets, lighting fixtures, and other home repair items as well as tumbled glass! Visit for inspiration and ideas. Friendly staff too!

Unique place. Located in an industrial part of San Francisco, but felt quite safe. Most of it is outdoors, except for lighting etc, so little Covid risk. They happily give you a receipt for your fully tax deductible donation- it's kind of like Goodwill in that way.

This used to be my favorite scrapyard for refurbishing and redoing the details in my apartment. The staff (with the exception of a few) used to be really friendly, negotiable, reasonable and helpful, but recently with the barrage of designer shows and HGTV, the catering to yuppies has taken over. You can't blame them for their success...thats how it just is. Used doors that used to cost 10-20 dollars now go for 40-60, window panes before 5-10 dollars now 45-60. Regardless the yard has the best selection here in San Francisco. You'll find old store fixtures, counter tops, plumbing, tiles and marble, doors, windows, trade show booths, stages, chairs, iron gates, lighting fixtures, and so much more to list for an artists or DIY's imagination. Prices are negotiable, but word to the wise, if you roll up in a hummer dressed like a hip clubbing elitist expect to pay top $$$$$$

The prices were lower than Ohmega in Berkeley, and the selection isn't as overwhelming as Urban Ore.

My contractor recommended them but I left pretty unimpressed and went elsewhere. The cabinet price…read morethey quoted me ended up being at least a couple thousand more than the place I ended up choosing and they were not as nice either (the East Star ones were particle board while the other ones were wood, the other ones were soft close which these were not, my actual layout ended up having almost entirely drawers on the base cabinets which wasn't included in the East Star price and so it would have been even higher than the quote they gave me, and so on). I was also looking for countertops and their options left a lot to be desired. They were maybe slightly cheaper than the other place ($40 difference for a standard countertop size of 110" by 26") but way less options and didn't look as nice. Mostly they were just not that helpful and I also didn't love their selections. I left searching for other options pretty quickly. I think one reason to maybe come here is the prices but in my experience even those were higher and the quality and selection were worse. In addition, ideally you want someone who can actually help you figure out a layout and make you feel like you want to shop there and I didn't get that sense. Maybe I just had a bad experience but even though I came in having some idea of what I wanted, I definitely did not get the vibe that this was where I would find it.

At Center, you don't have to be the expert or an experienced tradesman, if you can put your problem into words, they can find a solution. I had the job to try to put together a beverage carbonation and dispensing system for an upcoming event, using a box of old mismatched regulators, gauges and valves. Tino, the plumbing expert, wasn't phased at all. Tino had me put my various parts onto the cart and went to work, pulling down all the fittings, hoses, gaskets and other pieces I needed. He wheeled the cart between different departments educating me on what sizes and types went with each other. Creating new new ways to use the parts, when needed. I am not new to plumbing projects, but without Tino's expert help, I would not have been able to figure out what I needed and pull off this project. When I got home my system came together without a hitch, and everyone at the event got to benefit from Tino and his creative expertise The entire time Tino was helping me also kept my impatient little dog happy with pets, treats and kind words. Shadow normally gets very anxious after more than 5 minutes in a store, but this time at Center, she not only had a good time, but also found a new friend. Thank you Center Hardware, and thank you Tino!

I began working with Jan Li, who was willing and capable to help me act as my own general for my kitchen cabinet and counters replacement. I came in to their unassuming showroom with a only rude sketch of my ideas and together we designed a very much more workable kitchen than I had hoped for. Jan knows from much experience what works and what doesn't, what looks function the best. She was creative thorough and patient. She is a rare find. But there's more. Chen was in charge of the install, coming out to the house to double check all measurements and offering design refinements . His workmanship was excellent. Finally the materials themselves were sturdy and classy, with no voids in the plywood, and enough choices in stock for counters so that I was fine with what they had on hand. Couple that with prompt responses to my many phone calls, an itemized quote with no hidden charges, a less than three week lead time and flexibility in scheduling - I feel privileged to shine a light on this hidden gem.

First, they spent a ton of time on the phone with me to understand my situation; then they gave me a couple of options, one option using a product they sold, the other involved renting a sandblaster. After a bit more research I dropped in to see them and pick up a few gallons of soy-gel stripper. This is a construction supply house catering to contractors. Being a homeowner doing a pretty small job I expected to be hustled through quickly but they treated me very nicely and were again, extremely helpful. Final note: There were a few items I needed that they could have sold me (tools, etc.) but they insisted that I could get a better deal at a local hardware store. Very nice guys all around.
