I have purchased a costly product from BulkReefSupply (BRS). At no fault of their own, I received a part that didn't fit the unit. I opened a case with the manufacturer (UV Sterilizer firm, which we will refer to as PEN cause their product looks like a black pen) and spent five days in back-and-forth communication for a part that cost less than $1, which needed to be replaced. Let's say this is a delayed time, which is not suitable for my tank. Dealing with PEN felt cold. In addition, I felt they didn't have sympathy after I expressed my frustrations, which they made me bend over backwards to prove that I received the incorrect $1 part. Now, here is the part you want to hear: The issue was not BRS-related, but I reached out to them for help. You know what, BRS went above and beyond to help me and listened to my frustrations. This is not BRS's fault or issues, but they help where PEN was lacking and with better warm service. Long ago, I shied away from BRS, thinking I could get it better from somewhere, but I can tell you that when they run promotions, the prices are hard to beat. And now, since I know how they stand right by their customers, dude, this is the company you want to get all your reefing supplies! read more

Bulk reef supply Just want to give a shout out to bulk reef. Supply got my stuff a day. Early knowing they were wicked busy for Cyber Monday and Black Friday deals. Everything came perfect. I had to call customer service. They were having an issue with their stuff, not updating their orders. So if anybody runs into this, just know that could be the problem. This company advertised a 4th of July sale. I purchased an aquarium for $178. They emailed me stating they were canceling my order and that another order would have to be placed if I wanted to purchase the aquarium. The price for the aquarium now is $209. What a scam! I give them single star only because I can't give them negative stars. I start out buying all kinds of expensive equipment from them since I don't have any local fish stores. In example I bought a Bulk Reef Supply reverse osmosis system with all the bells and whistles for over $500. i have successfully used that kind of unit for years and this was the first that came with no written instruction, crappy online instruction, and a link to a vague YouTube video. Called customer support and sent pics and videos of my setup, got an email back that said it looks good and when I called back they said that's all they can do. I Tried again for a "sale" item and it was out of stock instantly and the price would not honored when the product came in. Awful customer service and bait and switch which is what I should expect from a company owned by an investment firm. Don't care about your pets or you. read more

A company like BRS really needs a review average of 4 stars or above, unless they are not concerned with reviews, at least reviews on YELP. They have lousy shipping and they have NON-STOP sales. Now I think sales are good, but sales that NEVER end, but just have different names, need to make you stop and think. My most recent frustration is that they just sent out a promotion code in an email (25% off with code BRS...2025). Then you find out they have a list under the heading "Some restrictions apply" kind of language, which is a list of 50 to 100 vendors that do not allow them to sell at at that any discount or promotion. This is the "no-promotion-promotion". When they had a "sale" over xmas, they sold items they did not have and listed a date for delivery that was not met, repeatedly. When contacted, they said they were just too busy. If you can't support the sale, the shipping, the logistics, then don't have the SALE until you can. This is a "no-sale-sale", until they actually have the sale. Get it??!! read more

They don't honor their return policies AT ALL. I will NEVER purchase from this company again. That is the equivalent of lying and beyond unacceptable. I was told they don't accept returns on unused, open merchandise. Not only do they have an entire open box section on their website, but their return policy states very clearly that they DO accept those types of returns. And for context, I opened a bag of sand, but did NOT remove any of it. I had simply cut a tiny area of the corner off to see the grain size. (I wanted to return because it was WAY finer than what the manufacturer specs had said.) Here is the exact verbiage that applied to my return request: CHANGED YOUR MIND ABOUT A PRODUCT AFTER OPENING THE BOX AND IT'S STILL UNUSED? WE CAN HELP. Hold on to your packaging! As long as the item was purchased from our website within the last 30 days, is unused, and has never touched water, we can accept a return and offer a refund minus a 10% restocking fee. * Products must be returned in the original packaging. I have spent thousands with this company. Ordered a $49.99 piece of rock and it came damaged and broken. This is a premium item i paid extra for. They said they don't guarantee this item and can send me glue. Well, thats not the way to do business. They should have packaged it better if the item is fragile. I was mistakenly under the impression that they sold water. Stopped in and two gentlemen tried to help me before they brought in a young woman. She glared at me like I kicked her dog and finally said "we do NOT sell water to the PUBLIC!" I apologized and she said nothing and marched back to her cube. Not friendly or customer focused at all. It's apparent at every turn that this company's culture is that of service and of helping fellow hobbyists. I asked a question about a potentially failing product (under warranty). Not only did I get a very helpful reply email but an order for the replacement components was put in immediately and before I could even request it. I continue to be a customer for life because BRS deserves my business. I wish other companies, including my own, had their kind of customer first mentality. read more

Absolutely would recommend these guys to everyone in the hobby!!! Every experience with BRS has been pleasant if by chance there ended up being a problem with the order, they always went above and beyond to Make it right at whatever cost to put the customers first!!!! It's truly a breath of fresh air to know their in the business . It is about customer service... for me Bulk Reef Supply is tops. On my first order I described what I was interested in for my small 15 gallon FOWLR tank and they helped me get the correct product. It has worked great. It was not the fanciest or most expensive by a long shot but what I needed. Looking below, a customer problem was not resolved to their satisfaction. On my order, I asked about returns and was very clearly told returns were within 1 year, but merchandise needed to be unopened, unused for full refund (60 days money back to me, 61-365 days website credit). Unused but opened incurs a 10% restocking fee, used is not returnable. They will go out of their way to help you decide what is right for you by email, online chat, phone...whatever you need, but they do not hide their return policy. read more

ok let's start by saying I am a small family owned store that services a particular set of clients. Now with that said I have had a wholesale account with bulk reef for years I mark up all materials as any store does my markup is strictly for the convenience of having product on hand so it is a substantial markup as my main cate is live coral and fish I used the word wholesale pricing that comes out to the price consumers would pay to brs as my wholesale price again it's for the convenience of it so with that said according to brs they contro what I say the value of the item is even if it is at the standard consumer price I guess it's not ok with them they didn't even call me email me or anything to get my side of the situation just block my account and remove all wholesale pricing so if this is how they do business now I am returning all the stores products and I will not ever use brs again unless they make this situation right I have purchased over 80k in 10 months from them and this is how they handle business read more

I purchased and expensive smart technology light for my freshwater tank. AI HD Prime light programmable only through smart technology items, such as iPhone or iPad. Cost, $240+. I received it Tuesday, May 21, 2019. Wednesday, May 22, 2018 my son stopped by to set it up. We are both very disappointed with this product. I called and spoke to Thomas about a different light for the same price. Thomas told me they do not accept used items and according to him......against policy. He suggested I attempt to sell it on Aquarium sites or EBay. He stated it was very used because we tried every setting through the only means available, an IPhone and an IPad. My aquarium has strictly purified water, no salt, no excessive minerals. My question is "How are you supposed to try it out if you remove it from the box and place over the tank with a tall arm I purchased from them for approximately $23". I still have the packaging. This item is not a plug and play. I will never buy from Bulk Reef Supply again. Incredibly bad policy! P.S. I have to assume Thomas buys a new television, plugs it in and watches it with factory settings in torch mode.....no adjustments. Same thought with any new computer. read more

I purchased a $460 Skimz aquarium sump online on April 30 2019. I installed the sump under my tank on 8 June. It is now October and the sump is already leaking. I called BRS to ask about warranty and the possibility of exchanging the sump. I even offered to pay shipping. Their response was that I should use "Weld On" and repair the sump myself. I said, so you sell a product that is supposed to sit in a persons house and hold water. This product is supposedly built by a professional and you want me to "fix" it? So, now if it leaks again, all liability for the damage caused by the leaking sump is now my problem. This isn't an electrical piece of equipment, it is a simple sump with no moving parts, no digital screens. It should last longer than 4 months for $460. They should stand behind the products they sell, especially something as important as a sump. I am completely put off by their lack of concern for selling a leaky sump. I don't recommend this company as they don't back their products. read more
