I love this place. It reminds me of an old school drive in but indoors. The food is great, they are always very busy but very fast, and they have plenty of seating. The old school letter menu is awesome. It brings you back to an old school diner / drive in feel even more. I was amazed at the amount of chili and cheese I got on the footlong hot dog. At any of the large chain restaurants, you wouldn't even get enough to barely cover the hot dog, but this was completely covered and the cheese was freshly hand shredded. As the lunch hour began to wane we began to look for options in North Arkansas. Lots of small towns but Bulldog came up with decent reviews. When we walked in it had all the indicators of a good roadside diner. There were lots of local people who seemed to know one another and the counter staff knew many by name. The burgers and strawberry shortcake came highly recommended. The burgers did not jump out of the menu so I asked and received an enthusiastic response so I ordered a double cheese. We took a seat in the well-worn but clean dining room. It was nearly 100°F outside with humidity in the 80s. The A/C was giving its all and the room was comfortable. Some of the humidity was condensing at the HVAC vents so there were a few drops here and there. Lunch arrived and somehow my double cheese was thinner than the fish sandwich. Upon inspection, it was a hamburger, single, no cheese. I took it back to the counter and they immediately made me another. Back at the table it was again a single. Back to the counter for another patty and some cheese. I checked right out of the kitchen and it was now a single cheeseburger. They turned around and added a patty. Now I had a double burger with a single cheese. It tasted great and another slice of cheese would have been perfect. I still haven't decided who had the off day, the burger guy or me. I dropped a star each time I had to do the "walk" to the counter. All the locals watched both times intently. I do recommend the burger. The staff was wonderful and helpful and worked through. And get the strawberry shortcake. It is delightful. Tip If the burger comes out wrong check the replacement at the counter. read more

First of all the kids who were working were not very on task. You could hear the guys laughing and. Cutting up in the kitchen area. Ordered a malt and received a shake. Asked what comes on the burger and the girl just pointed upwards to the menu. I get it , kids need jobs but this was not a good representation of a business. The burgers were ok and the pecan pie was good. Just traveling through but probably won't stop again or recommend.- Just my opinion. read more

Service was okay. My food was good. But looking around the Resturant I noticed it is so dirty. Around the drink machine it was soaking wet and unkept. Drinks, napkins and straws everywhere. The heat and air vents in the Resturant were dusty, dirty and in need of cleaning. And the bathrooms are horrible!! They rate up there with one of the dirtiest public restrooms I've ever been in at a Resturant and they need renovating. Not to mention we sat at a table by that dirty restroom. The whole place needs to close down renovate and clean and reopen and it may be better overall but not now. It's bad. read more

Had the chili. It was straight from an institutional can. I talking NO flavor whatever. Why places serve dishes like this is beyond me. I understand starting with a can. But to serve it with no additional love added. What a missed opportunity. The pulled pork sandwich on the other hand was very decent. Truly pulled. Not chopped. I only had two items, but both were good. After hearing good things about the place I stopped in for a cheeseburger and fries. The single-patty cheeseburger was quite tasty. Judging by the price and speed, I expected something similar to a fast food burger but it was much better than what you would get at the big franchise places. The fries were very yummy. I was pleasantly surprised as I located this out-of-the-way restaurant. I was stopping for fuel and headed to the McDonald's to get a quarter pounder when I saw the marquee for this restaurant and saw that they had a drive-through window. Given the choice between McDonald's and a family-owned restaurant, I'll choose the family-owned every time. I ordered a cheeseburger with french fries and a soft drink. It was delicious and so much better than a chain cheeseburger. I don't take this route often that would bring me to this area, but when I do, I'll be stopping here. Found this little gem on Yelp. Our route to Memphis was detoured so we looked for something original and we found the perfect spot! While standing in line the person in front of us said to make sure and have ice cream! We had steak fingers, gravy, French fries, onion rings, Texas toast, Cole slaw, and a cheese burger! All were great. The line moved fast and the food came quick! We finished off with dessert....butter pecan sundae and a peach shortcake! So delicious! Atmosphere was vintage setting. I have been coming to The Bulldog much of my life. It has always been one of my favorite places and was always clean with friendly service. Tonight was quite the opposite. The staff were very rude. I stood at counter for several minutes waiting to ask for a to go box. Multiple staff looked at me numerous times and one even went to deliver food walking past me twice, still not asking what I needed. She went right back to putting straws in a cup. Also, staff acted annoyed to have customers and even made comments at times indicating this. However, the main complaint I have is that the restaurant was absolutely FILTHY...not just dirty. I completely lost my appetite. The floor had not been mopped in a very long time. All kinds of food was on the floor along with trash and spills that were dried. There was not one clean table and there were hardly any customers there at this time. We had to clean the table and high chair ourselves. I am very disappointed. I won't be returning :( It seems the restaurant has really gone downhill in the past couple years.. read more

Was told by a local to stop here if ever in the area. Wasn't disappointed. I love little, local mom and pop places and this fit the bill. I really waanted the strawberry shortcake because apparently that's a must have, but apparently it's a seasonal thing and I missed it by a week or two. That was one of the best stops i ever made to eat. My brother was driving and stopped there as he told me it was really good. It was better than good. The pulled pork BBQ was as good as i ever had. This place had so many 4 & 5 star reviews that we chose it for dinner while passing through. That and the fact that some other preferences were closed for Sunday night. Think "slightly-above-average" Dairy Queen (and I'm pretty sure it was originally a DQ.). Ice cream and some desserts, but meals were basically burgers & fried chicken/shrimp/steak fingers. Adequate but nothing special. Served on styro plates with plastic utensils. Clean tables & restrooms, and prompt service. Counter order with reasonable prices. Bulldogs was recommended for the strawberry shortcake and burgers. Tried both wasn't overly impressed. Burger was ok. Had 1/2Lb burger with everything plus bacon. Onion rings pretty good, fries were double fried, didn't really care for them. Strawberry shortcake was pretty good but was mostly vanilla ice cream with wafer like shortbread pieces and was short on fresh strawberries. Interior was 70s, no real theme/character.
