They have everything, and if they don't, they'll help you try to locate it. But what really shines is the staff. In particular Ann. She's friendly, knowledgeable and extremely nice. I called Bullpen to check inventory and prices for pokemon booster boxes. Male representative picks up the phone. I ask him, "Which Pokemon Booster Boxes are in stock." He responds, "a better question would be which Pokemon booster boxes you are looking for." Immediate red flag and violation of the most important rule in running a business: customer service. All you had to do was answer the question politely but instead you tried to put me down and boost your own ego. Guess what, not every consumer knows the exact name and specifications for every product type. For example, parents who buy presents for their children might not have the knowledge and will need more guidance on product. Regardless, I brushed off his rudeness and asked the price for a Lost Origin booster box, which he stated was $150. For Pokemon specifically, anyone in the industry will refer to TCG player as the golden standard and industry benchmark for product pricing. I mention to him that $150, is nearly a 50% mark up from the market average. I can literally buy the product directly from TCG player right now for 103$, but sometimes I prefer a brick and mortar store experience to support local businesses. When I mentioned the market price, he proceeded to scoff and boost his ego by telling me that they've been selling like crazy for their price, practically flying off the shelves. What. A. Joke. Look, as a business, you are absolutely entitled to sell product for any given price. However, I still have the right to mention market price and try to negotiate to that standard. If price is firm, you can politely just tell me that instead of harassing me. Message to the owner of the business: customer experience is what determines loyalty and retention for clients in a hyper competitive market. If your team is not competent enough to follow the most basic human principles in being respectful and kind to customers, then rest assured your business will crumble. read more

Got back into collecting sports cards after a 20 year hiatus and the Bullpen Burbank is by far the best sports card store in Southern California. Billy, Mitch and the rest of the staff are top notch and extremely welcoming and knowledgeable. The store has that old school neighborhood vibe and never disappoints...and by the way, they have anything and everything you could be looking for, and at the right price. Found this shop waiting in line at Porto's. I didn't realize that The Bullpen opened a shop in Burbank. They also have a great spot near LAX that caters to the rich and famous. Little did I know that the Burbank shop blows the LA store out of the water. Great customer service, excellent pricing, and a very knowledgeable staff. This store is very clean and organized. It's located in a very safe part of Burbank, literally right next to Porto's. I love spending my money here, and you will too. read more

This store has an amazing selection of inventory everytime I walk in. They always seem to have the newest items on release days and my kids and I LOVE this place! The prices are similar to nearby competitors, but the kindness and knowledge of the staff helps separate them from the others! The woman who runs the Pokemon section (Forgive me for forgetting her name) was extremely friendly and made my kids feel welcomed with their questions! I typically go in looking for baseball cards, and the gentleman behind the counter (His name is Bill, I believe), was extremely knowledgable in the field and very friendly to my kids and I. He even gave my son a pack of Topps baseball, and he pulled one of his favorite players! My son now frequently asks when we're going back to visit Bill and the Bullpen! Needless to say, Bullpen has my business, the staff is extremely polite, and seem to have a great gist of trading cards and customer service! Very well done! But I will say like any card shop some single prices are a bit crazy and out there, I'm always a bit shy to ask if they'd be willing to look up TCGplayer prices and match that but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ you can give it a try? I was in the area for Porto's, like everyone else, I noticed the store and went in. Needless to say, it wasn't my best experience. I've visited every card shop in the area, and I understand why I've been negligent to visit bullpen. There was an air of "I don't want to be here" when we went in. I smelled it, and it looked like the two guys on staff have been smelling it. It was awkward and quiet, and the guys were very non personable. "Can I help you find something" and that's it. Every other shop has an energy from the staff that this shop didn't have. The prices were another issue. Graded cards and singles are always variably priced, I don't fault those. However some of the prices of sealed product resembles prices during covid, when product was hard to find and you can charge whatever you want. Specifically the charizard UPC Pokémon item. It was priced at $150. This item is marked up by at least $50. At the time I'm writing this, you can pickup this item from TCGplayer (an online card store to those who are unaware) for $94. Either the store is too ignorant to mark these prices more competitively, or they are preying on people who don't any better, and want to get something for someone they love, not knowing they are being significantly ripped off. I buy locally more often than not, just to feed my local card shop, but this is egregious. The same pricing issue can be said about all the other sealed pokemon product. I don't know much about sports cards so I'll refrain from criticizing. Long story short. If you're looking for Pokémon or sports cards, there are far better stores that are nearby. I leave two stars just because some of their singles were cool to see in store shelves. It's cool that another card shop exists in Burbank, but bullpen feels like it casts an ugly shadow on the hobby. Stay away. read more

Had visited Porto's in the area with some friends and we decided to give this shop a visit. First impression, very small, no signage to tell you it's a shop until you get to the front door. There was one worker behind the counter watching tv, it was the store manager named bill or billy as I can't recall. We weren't greeted but stared at by him, he seemed more focus on the tv than to help us out or even greet us. Clearly didn't seem interested or engaged at the moment. We browsed around their small show case but they are mainly a store that sells wax from what we saw. It wasn't until we asked him to see some cards that we would even notice he spoke as he was silent the whole time we were there and gave very little customer service. The price ranges were over comps to what last cards sold which makes sense since their a business. Their wax prices were the same as well. This shop was a one and done visit for us, clearly the worker bill or billy didn't seem to enjoy his job and gave a disengaged environment in such a small space that made us feel unwelcome. read more

Me and my friend went to the store with high expectations after we saw the quantity of cards and boxes they had there. Unfortunately it was not as good as it looked. The man behind the counter was incredibly rude and I felt he was annoyed by us being in the store and asking him questions, he was ignoring us and he sold my friend an expensive card with a giant crease in the middle. We were gonna spend money in there but after the way we were treated compared to the other customers in there we walked out.
