The pork potstickers were the best potstickers we've every had I'd highly recommend ordering them!! I 100% will be coming back if I'm ever in the area again it is truly worth it. Although the wait time was not bad at all and we were seated within minutes, it does seem like they are typically reservation based so plan accordingly! So many good meals I have had from this restaurant. The best is they take special care for all gluten free meals. They have their own gluten free menu. It doesn't matter if we order delivery or in the restaurant. They always package it separate and take special care to make sure it is separated from the other food. They even have gluten free dessert. Having a child with celiac disease make it hard to eat out especially in small towns. My husband and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon around 230 and we were told there was a 20 min wait. we were seated at the bar but there was no room at the bar. We were driving through Cobleskill and decided to call ahead for a late lunch to ensure there was space. The answer was a resounding yes that we should stop by, but upon our arrival, we were accused of not providing a name for the reservation and told there was nowhere to sit despite dozens of tables being empty. This entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth, but it wasn't the last bad taste that afternoon. The food, while not bad, was definitely of a poorer quality than one would expect for the price and location, was not well plated, and almost universally had unnecessary ingredients that made the subpar taste even worse. This place is amazing! The atmosphere, the staff and the food are all excellent. The owner was behind the bar all night and was an amazing bartender and host. He was a true professional in everything he did- from pouring a drink to shining every single glass behind the bar. I had the Hunters Special which consisted of venison sausage, grilled duck breast and braised rabbit along with squash and scalloped potatoes. The beer selection is top notch as well. Lots of craft brews to choose from. The atmosphere is absolutely stunning. The renovations that the building underwent were brilliant. Maybe we were there on a bad day. The food was good and not so good depending on the dish. Hubby had pasta and the serving was large enough for 3. Hubby liked the pasta. I had a Tri tip version of Shepard's Pie. A lot of gravy, a little meat and vegetables, and a lump of potatoes. I was hankering for dessert and learned that the majority of the offerings were not made at the restaurant, the Apple Crisp was. Small soup crock layered with 5 apples in canned pie filling, hard crust and a scoop of ice cream. The dessert was cold, the dish was cold, the ice cream didn't melt until I removed it to a side plate. As slow as the restaurant was I would hope the kitchen could have aspired to at least putting the dish in the microwave. I was extremely disappointed in my experience at the Bull's Head Inn. I brought my family there for Thanksgiving dinner and the price for the buffet was way out of line. The cost was $37.00 per head. I wouldn't complain about the food but I also would not rave about it, which at that price point, I should be able to. There was nothing out of the ordinary or special on the buffet and nothing worth paying that price for. I love going out to eat and don't mind spending the money but give me something to pay for. Other restaurants in the area offered the same type of buffet for less than half the cost. I will never go back to the Bulls Head again. I'm not one to "trash" a business, but if asked, I will share my experience. Maybe the high price was for the apple pie with the burnt crust that I could hardly remove from the pan?????? read more

We were on a weekend gateway from NYC to omegang brewery and our friend recommended this place. I'm not a resident in the area, but during a friend's wedding last year I left with the impression that there is really not many restaurants around truly to the concept. Except for Justine's, which I recommend as well but it is a completely different cuisine (Italian) and experience. While leaving, I kept thinking how greatly impressed we were in all aspects about Bull's Head Inn. From the beautiful interior to excellent service to the cuisine approach. Everything was somehow unexpected. For instance, Bulls head inn is 213 yrs old. However, like the best wine, aging have been no other but a blessing. Imagine an alive historic landmark like time has not pass by at all converted into a fine dining restaurant with a family feeling approach. The menu features simple and tasty dishes constructed over quality ingredients. Our group ordered to share a few appetizers including Rueben Egg Roll, a corned beef filling wonton dress up with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and red pepper and Crabcakes, super crispy with corn flour where you can actually taste the crab flavor. I ordered the Chicken Confit Salad with Arugula and Baby Spinach as base greens and loved the contrasting flavor given by almonds, dried cranberries and sliced apple. My friends's diverse meat orders were well cooked and busting on flavor, and the Bruleed Salmon which is seared in brown sugar with roasted potatoes and green beans was a surprise in flavor and textures as well. Portions are large and presentation is clean and beautiful. The drinks menu offers a great selection and some exquisite sips by the bar that you may wanna hit after dinner. Even when at first it looks like a high end restaurant experience, the warming welcome and service does make you feel like among family. A tour around the house is likely a welcome request to admire antiques and details in every corner. For instance, don't miss the refrigerator by the bar. And I leave it here. Since I work most all the fall and winter holidays, we always go out to have a good dinner somewhere before I go to work. That somewhere for the last several years has been at the Bulls Head Inn in Cobleskill. They put out a tremendous buffet dinner for New Years, Easter, Mothers and Fathers days, Thanksgiving and Easter too I believe. I have to comment that the Turkey is the best around along with the Prime Rib and this is all you can eat. I have brought several family members along for the ride with no complaints. The staff there are very good and personable. When I forgot to get gravy for the meal today, I think his name is Chris asked do you need gravy and brought it right out to me. That's service! My wife and I were just passing through, with an overnight stay in Cobleskill. We found this restaurant on Yelp and were delighted beyond our expectations. The greeting we received upon entry was warm and genuine. The waitress was really kind and solicitous, despite our running dietary restrictions at her. The food is exquisite. The chef has a deft hand, and doesn't resort to oversalting or drowning in sauce. Rather, the main courses were done to perfection, with my wife's salmon nicely caramelized on one side and the right level of moist within. My steak was perfectly cooked as I had ordered it (medium rare) and was on a bed of locally fresh-picked tender but not mushy green beans. And crispy potatoes that had just the right texture. As a special treat, we ordered in advance the 1802 pudding for two. Think French clafoutis, but with some dark chocolate added to the cherries. More eggy than cream-based, it was delicious yet not overpoweringly rich. At $8.00 for a desert you split, we felt this was a very fair price. A wonderful restaurant! read more

The Bull's Head changes owners so often that you never know what you are going to get! I'm sorry to say we have been disappointed in the past so we are hesitant to dine there. It is a shame because the Bull's Head is an Historic establishment in Cobleskill. It has been open since I was a child and I use to go there on Friday Nights with my parents all the time. That was over 40 years ago...Now I would like to see consistency there in the food preparation and portions. My wife, granddaughter, and I are visiting from NJ. This is the first time visit since the new owners of the Bull's Head. Very impressed with the restaurant, waite staff, and food served here. I enjoyed the hummus appetizer platter, blackened fish, iced tea, and carrot cake dessert. We finished right at 7:30pm. I took my granddaughter to the theater next door for the Disney Dory movie. This is our go-to date night spot, The Cellar Tavern specifically. The atmosphere is quiet but not stuffy and the lighting is perfect. It's a smaller space but it feels perfectly cozy. The bartenders are very adept and have come up with some amazing seasonal drinks (Especially their Tuesday bartender who's name escapes me but she's incredible!). The restaurant's full menu is available in the tavern, no bar menu here! The food has never disappointed, their Ruben being the best in town. The owner is very nice and came to talk with us about our experience and a question my fiance had. He is gracious and really knows his business. This is probably the only upscale restaurant in Cobleskill. The period decor its great too. Went to Bulls Head today with my friends for our holiday gathering , we took the tour and heard the haunted history . What an amazing and beautiful place . So much history . This place is so beautiful and every detail has a story to it . We sat at a beautiful table next to a blazing fireplace . Our server was Jeff , such an awesome person, he was so attentive and polite to us . We ordered our food and the parm fries are to die for ~ We could not decide what to have for dessert so we ordered all of them with extra plates and spoons to pass them around as each of us tried a little of each one . Being from Manhattan, I wasn't expecting much from this place but I must say I was very pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere was so pleasant and warm. Our hostess was the perfect greeter. She had a big smile and a warm welcome the minute we walked in. Our waitress was Chelsea and she was awesome! She was attentive, kind and friendly. Interestingly enough, the prices were very similar to Manhattan prices, so that was a bit of a surprise however the food was fantastic, service was wonderful and the atmosphere was lovely. With the shut down, I thought that I would get a quality meal from an upscale restaurant for a special occasion. What I got was a very disgusting meal. It consisted of stuffed cod , which was mushy and tasteless. Obviously frozen and heated in a microwave. Fried seafood platter which was overcooked and dry out. For this I was charged $70 and they requested a gratuity. I have not been to this restaurant since it's "grand" reopening and I definitely will not go again! If they can't do a better job than this, they should close down again! read more
