Hello Fancy Farmer! Long time listener, first time caller. Heard about this place many of times. Finally got to experience this buffet. I'm mixed about this review. Arrived about 6pm. Food was very tasty and well prepared. It was not hot. I didn't really mind so much because it was good. And I was hungry. Salad bar potion of the buffet was mostly empty. Little disappointed in that. Service to our table and bar tender were very friendly and on point. The restaurant itself was very nice and had a great atmosphere. I will be back and hopefully have a five star experience and review to follow. read more

My wife and I have gone to dinner here often. We bring visiting family here and everyone enjoys the food and atmosphere. Last night we decided to stop in and have a bite. It was busy. The pub and dining room were full. It was the Polish buffet night . Everything went well except for one thing. A bar patroon was grazing at the buffet using his finger to sample and eating them at the buffet. He visited the buffet at least 3 times. The last time he began making sausage sandwiches at the bread station and proceeded to leave the restaurant with everything folded up in a cloth napkin. In the future I would suggest monitoring the buffet. Some people might need some supervision on etiquette. read more

This place is a hidden gem! We loved it! Such an awesome Atmosphere with a mix of bar vibes with also lots of seating. Tractors for photo ops and we were privileged with sitting the large corn crib area. It's awesome decor and vibes. Our table ate a variety of gluten free options, fish dinner, burgers and kids meals. Located in the center of Sharon Springs, Fancy Farmer is a local restaurant and bar which was renovated completely from the former Brookfield Laundromat, Brookfield Studio, Coffee House, and US Gas & Deli (gas pumps removed). They are still going through their soft opening period with an abbreviated food menu at the time of this posting. A larger menu is upcoming. The food menu offerings include appetizers, salads, burger & sandwich plates, bowls, chicken entrees, pork tenderloin, coconut shrimp, pierogies & kielbasa, filet mignon, ribeye steak, kids menu, and desserts. The pricing seems pretty fair, most entrees in the $12-$21 range with a few in the $26-$40 range. The place has a laid back rustic barnhouse atmosphere with dim lighting with seating up at the center bar in front surrounded by high top tables and booths, flat screen TVs on the walls, and a back dining area with regular tables. The bar offers 6 beers on tap, wine and mixed drinks. While driving along US 20 through the farm country of Schoharie County, I stopped in for dinner at Fancy Farmer in Sharon Springs. The place was moderately busy on a hot Saturday evening. I headed up to the bar and took a seat. The bartender gave me a food menu and I requested ice water as I made choices. I started out with Pierogies (4 for $6.50 plus tax) which came out hot, 4 pan fried potato filled Polish dumplings with sauteed onions & sauerkraut and sour cream. These oily firm pierogies were really great and I enjoyed each bite. Next, the Low Country Shrimp & Grits ($17.95 plus tax) was a modest portion with soft stone ground grits smothered with a creole sauce, Gouda cheese, andoulle sausage slices and three grilled very firm seasoned shrimp, no tail and cleaned. This Southern style dish had a nice spicy flavors and the grits were not too hot. I was all set after finishing my food and got the check which was $26.41 with tax and before tip. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal with good service. The bartender checked up on me asking how the food was and offered refills on the ice water. I would definitely return to Fancy Farmer once their menu is expanded and can't wait to taste what they'll have to offer. read more

Our experience was terrible from the start. The waitress took about 15 minutes to get to our table to even take drink orders. When received our drinks, everything tasted very chlorinated. My mother and I both ordered 10 oz prime ribs and, without exaggerating, half of both steaks was fat. I asked them if the 10oz includes the fat and the waitress said yes. I really wish I took a picture because it was ridiculous. I would be embarrassed to serve that to a customer. Definitely will not be returning and will not recommend this restaurant to anyone else. read more

It keeps getting better. We've been there several times over the last year. Stopped in for a quick burger at the bar, but it was a busy weekend and they were out of burgers. So we dove deeper into the menu and I tried the gnocchi. Which was good, but the Caesar dressing on the accompanying salad is spectacular. Horrible night! Over an hour wait. Wrong meal served to 1 person, then corrected and served with the right meal that was barely warm - Prime rib. 1 person never got their dinner. Service out of kitchen was unacceptable and all they did was discount the final bill (minus the meal that was missing). The whole bill should have been comped since it was a birthday dinner and the night was totally ruined! Never agian... will never say a good word about this place, ever. The owner should be ashamed that this was the experience and she was OK with is paying a discounted bill and she probably still made money from us. read more

I made a reservation for a group of 11. Tables were set up and put together for us. We were welcomed by the staff. Our server Alicia was very efficient and attentive. Food came out quickly and was hot. I had the prime rib special and it was so tender and cooked like I like it-rare. All of us raved about whatever dish they had. We ate here last month also. I went on January 20 to celebrate my birthday. I had never been before. Probably the best meal I've had in years. Lately, I don't like to dine out because it's expensive and the food is never worth what I've spent but this place is a game changer. Terrific place in a rather out of the way place. Upstate New York is beautiful and the drive from Amsterdam to Sharon Springs was incredible! Even more so was the food-highly recommend the Pierogis (either as an app or as part of the sausage plate) were def homemade and deliciously tender. Sandwiches and burgers were served with fries and very tasty. The coconut shrimp with cranberry and sweet chili relish were spectacular. Servers were rushed on this busy night (good thing we had a 5:30 reservation on a Saturday night) but efficient and food came out at a terrific pace. We were near a table of 12 and there was no problem with service. Nice bar if you want to eat there, too. All in all, a really nice spot for dinner, you'll enjoy it! read more

First time visiting Fancy Farmer. Owners did a nice job renovating the space. It has a nice, rustic feel. Menu is Americana basics with some nightly specials. I had the tasty, perfectly cooked scallop special (pricey but I'll eat half tonight). Good veggie sides which is important to me. Partner had the burger; it looked basic but good. Great food, friendly staff, a well stocked complete bar all in new renovated space with a "fresh from the farm" ambiance right down to the mini-tractor on display in the dining room. A wonderful addition to area dining experiences. Bravo! read more
