DO NOT TRUST BULWARK WITH YOUR HOME OR HEALTH. I trusted Bulwark Exterminating for NINE YEARS to protect my home from mice. I paid my bills faithfully and had their technicians inside my home and crawlspace regularly. I had an ongoing problem with Mice and was led to believe this was related to a neighbor with tall grass and that there was nothing I could do. I had my quarterly treatments and had frequent callbacks because of persistent mice. I even found a decomposed mouse in the corner of my garage. In June, I brought in an independent company for a second opinion. They walked in and immediately found a massive, advanced mouse infestation in my attic with severe structural destruction, shredded insulation, and hazardous waste. The remediation quotes are $25,000-$35,000. It is so dangerous that workers have to wear full hazmat suits and N95 masks to even go up there. Worst of all, I am a 71-year-old recently diagnosed with a severe genetic immune deficiency disorder and rheumatoid arthritis. Bulwark's complete failure to perform the job I paid them for over nine years has left me trapped living beneath an active biohazard of airborne waste that directly threatens my health and puts me at extreme risk for respiratory illness. It has been nearly two months since I notified them. I called the "quality control" Department and spoke to eight different people who promised callbacks but never once did they call. When I initially reported the problem , no one offered to come out and see what was going on and see what could be done. They asked me to send the videos that the new company had taken. When I did not hear back, I called and asked the person who answered to open up the video. She became very quiet (because they are really bad) & told me that she would be sending them over to their legal team who would call me the next day. I never heard back. I have had to email the CEO twice just to get a response. Instead of fixing their mistake, Bulwark completely deflected and passed me off to two competing insurance companies (AmTrust and Skyward Specialty) who are now pointing fingers at each other over who is responsible forwhat year. Bulwark markets itself as a family company that cares, but the moment they cause a major crisis, they run behind insurance adjusters and leave an immunocompromised customer in a hazardous home. Disgraceful service. Not only poor Pest Control service but terrible customer service. This is a family owned business started by a dad and three sons. On their website, they talk about family values and communication. Sadly, I believe it began that way, but it certainly is not that way now. If I had started a company with my children that ended up like this I would be ashamed. Beware before you sign up for service with them. If you have service with them now, be sure to get a second opinion if you've had problems with mice. read more

Due to construction and all the rain, we had a major infestation of ants. I called requesting a technician come to re-treat our home both inside and outside. A technician was scheduled immediately for the same day. Brandon called in advance to let me know his ETA. Upon arrival, he did a thorough walk through to understand the issues, and went above and beyond treating with granules outside and gels inside. He explained the treatment protocol and what to expect in the next 24-36 hours. read more

I would rate this a zero if possible due to their service or lack there of. We were loyal customers of theirs for 6 years!! We cancelled service in March as we decided to go with someone else who came to our door selling a new kind of product. I called to cancel that day and agent said my account was closed. Low and behold I got a bill again 7 weeks later. I called in again to check and make certain our account was closed. The agent assured me that the account was closed and yet again I still was getting billed. Then I get a bill stating that I owed 400$+ dollars and this was my final notice. This was printed almost a month ago as to when I received it in the mail and now Bulwark was turning it into a collection agency. As a small business owner myself I pride myself on ensuring my service is top notch including how I handle my customers which includes the customers that have been with my business for 6 + years. This is crazy and the amount of unneeded headache on me is not okay because someone did not correctly cancel my account the first time. Buyer beware!!! Not worth the headache. We had issues with fire ants, mosquitos, and wasps at the beginning of the season, and they've handled all of them beautifully (we were able to spend the whole Memorial Day weekend in our yard without worrying about stings or bites). We had previously used Bulwark, and the service seemed good; however, since using the service in Durham, we have been entirely unsatisfied. First, we had initially called them for mosquito control, but we have continued to have mosquitoes. Worse, after more than a year, when we cancelled our service with them, we learned that they had not been spraying for mosquitoes, which is obviously ridiculous since we had initially employed them to do just that. Second, we had them come to address fleas in our yard, and even with follow-ups, they haven't been able to address the issue. Even with using Frontline on our dogs every month, we still have them in the yard during the summer, and we live in central Durham--an urban area. It doesn't seem difficult to address them. Just do the job we pay you for. Third, 'technicians" come out to your house every month, but consistent with the lack of results above, I'm not sure they actually do anything. I just watched our last "technician" Josh merely walk around the house for a few minutes for our $60/mo. treatment. Didn't seem like he did anything. Sixty bucks for a couple-minute lap around the house with no results seems like an exploitative payday. Given that and the lack of results, we have cancelled with Bulwark and will be seeking other/better pest companies. I would not recommend them. The results speak for themselves--nil read more

We moved here from PA about 4 years ago and quickly realized professional insect extermination is a must. Bulwark is an excellent service provider and my only objection is the annual cost. I question the number of visits (bi monthly), but the results have been good. On occasion, we'll see ants or something and they promptly hop on the truck and handle it. Unless they increase the price soon, or we find a cheaper competitor with comparable results, we'll stay with them. read more

She wasn't sure of the issue, did not explain in detail what she was going to do, just said 'I'm going to dust it' what ever that means. Issue was in the crawl space, did not going into the crawl space just put dust in from the entrance to the crawl space, no explanation of what the dust does, no explanation or instructions on what the product was, how long before I can go back into the crawl space, any issues for pets and children being ING around it. No discussion on alternative treatments that could be used. No discussion about how to prevent the pests or looking to see where the mice came in. Just a poor job that she 5 minutes at most doing and then I get charged $160 for. In my opinion it seemed a totally pointless visit. Asked to sign the visit report before the job was completed. read more

I called because I was having a huge ant problem in my kitchen. I was at my wits end and called hoping to get an appointment asap. I was able to get one the very next day and Daryle showed up right on time. He educated me on what I was doing wrong. Those things you buy at the store invite them in instead of solving the problem, so I just made my situation worse. I requesting a specific technician someone who is a friend of the our family to service my 93 year old mothers house for bugs. They promised to send who I asked for. To my surprise a different technician showed up. Sprayed and we still have the bugs. I have called and complained and have not gotten any satisfaction. They are insistent I pay $ 129.00 and have now sent me to collections. It is the principal. Stay away from Bulwark. read more

I live in a wooded area and had a huge problem with large roaches entering my house starting earlier this year that was stressing me out to no end. Thankfully, once I contacted Bulwark about getting the house sprayed and rid of the creatures, they responded quickly and efficiently and were in to spray in and around the house within the week. After they had sprayed, one roach appeared, flipped over and dead in the kitchen, but after that, there were no more. Bulwark was very diligent with the schedule every other month perimeter sprays and I had an overall pleasant experience with everyone I interacted with. read more
