First the pros: 1. The eggs, omelettes, sourdough bread and fruit were very good. 2. It wasn't terribly expensive. Now the cons: 1. The slow service: we were seated fairly quickly but we sat there for at least 15 minutes without anyone even talking to us. Meanwhile, at least two other groups came in and got their orders taken. In fact, we saw two ladies who came in after us, get their food, finish and leave before we even got ours. I had to get up and ask one of the servers if they had forgotten us. She was wide-eyed and seemed lost but said yes. She then got our drink orders and we eventually got the drinks. Then she took our orders. We got one order about an hour later. Then one more came out at least 5 minutes later. I asked our server if it would be 5 minutes in between each of us getting our orders because at that rate it would take 30 minutes. She looked puzzled by my question and then said no. However, my comment proved to be prophetic as it was about 25 minutes in between the first person in our group getting their order and the last two getting their's. The last two were the only ones that came out as a group instead of solo. So we either sat their awkwardly while our breakfast mates ate their food or ate with a guilty conscience while our companions waited. On top of that, our server continually forgot stuff. We had to ask multiple times and each time she would act as if it was the first time she'd heard it. We found out as we were leaving that part of the reason for the slowness (the food part not the server's forgetfulness or ignoring us) was because one of the cooks didn't show up. We were there about 2 hours. It really put us in a bind for the rest of our day considering it was our last day of vacation. We ended up cutting something else out to compensate. 2. The environment: It was a decent place especially considering it was just in a strip mall. However, it was hot and when I asked if they could adjust the thermostat they said they would but warned that it was always that way. It did get cooler after that though so I am happy about that though I wish I hadn't suffered so long and had to ask before they adjusted it. 3. The food: To be fair, as I mentioned earlier, one of the cooks was missing and somebody else filled in so I can't say if the bad food was because of that, but it was bad. With the few exceptions I mentioned earlier it was all bad. The pancakes were dry and floury. There wasn't enough syrup in all of Vermont to make them moist. We poured it on and they drank it up without anything to show for it. They were like black holes. The home fries had no flavor. I had to salt and pepper them to death to taste anything. The bacon was awful. It ran the gamut from burnt to slimy and underdone. I'm not one to ask for a discount or some monetary consideration at restaurants when things go wrong, even this wrong, but usually I don't have to ask when it is this bad. They didn't even offer. When we paid the bill, one of the employees there asked about how our server did and when we were honest about it she admitted that she probably shouldn't be a server. Yet still no consideration or even apology. We won't be back. Last year we went to Mercier's Orchard restaurant on our last day and it was very good but we had to wait in line a very long time and then had to wait for our food for a very long time and didn't want to risk repeating that. Food is always stellar... we always get sat right away, but it's always very slow. Drinks come fairly quickly, and the servers are mostly attentive, but the food takes forever. I still go because their veggie omelette is on point and a side of bacon is generous in size, but I'd be willing to go more often if ticket time was quicker. Loved this place! I had a delicious country fried steak for lunch here last week. The food was great except for my cornbread which was too dry, but they got extra points for friendly service. We asked for directions to Amicalola Falls and they gave us directions to there as well as the Blue Ridge Welcome Center and even recommended a friendly church to attend while we were in town. They make you feel like family, and I'll definitely be stopping back on my next visit! read more

We found this brunch place on the way back from spending the weekend at the Ocoee. It knocked out that craving for Sunday morning brunch perfectly. The country fried steak and bacon, egg and cheese croissant were on point. The service was super prompt and very friendly. Made us feel right at home. Me and my husband stopped in Sunday morning for Breakfast and had the worst waitress anyone could possibly image. Waited one hour before getting our food and it wasn't hot. During the one hour wait, we experienced the non existing service from one waitress, she had a bad attitude, talked to the customers badly, kept sighing the whole time someone walked in the door. We counted about 20 people that walked out. The manager was in the back cooking and didn't get to experience the show me, my husband and others around us did. There were 7 girls that came in and they left pretty quickly after experiencing "her." I told them, good for you. Will not be back here again. First time to Blue Ridge. I have to say I was very disappointed with the food. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich, and it was not good. I make better ones at home. My family had biscuits and gravy, French toast and pancakes. My daughter ordered chocolate chip pancakes. The waitress asked if she wanted chips on top or inside. She said inside. The waitress came out with the order and said sorry, they put them on top. And that was that. There was no sausage in the gravy. None at all. I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

I honestly debated whether I should leave this review, but I decided that if I can prevent this from happening to another family, then taking the time to describe this ordeal is worth it. On Saturday August 5th, my husband and I had breakfast at this establishment with a few friends. We love the idea of supporting small businesses especially since we were visiting other unique places in Blue Ridge, GA. Having worked as a server for 3.5 years and in customer service for over 10 years, I am well acquainted as to what constitutes good service. This establishment is the antithesis of quality service, and the way that my husband and I were treated by the manager and wait staff left me disappointed, angry and hurt. The wait for our food was long which was to be expected since we were a party of 8. When we received our food, some of it was burnt and some of the people in our party, including myself, had food missing. The manager/owner of the establishment approached our table but instead of greeting us, she starts with "What is the problem" in an agitated tone. We explained that we were missing items from our order, so the manager/owner went to the kitchen to retrieve them. As soon as our orders arrived at the table, they immediately gave us our ticket. Before we ordered, we requested separate checks for each couple. But instead of bringing us 4 checks, they brought us 3 checks which had food items that we never received. My husband had the manager/owner come over again to address the missing food items and to get the checks properly separated. The manager/owner rudely interrupted my husband and said that she would handle it at the register! My husband tried to further explain that we still had food missing, and the manager/owner rudely interrupted him again and said she would fix it at the register but didn't offer to bring the missing food. My husband explained to her that she was being rude and all he wanted her to do was to listen to her customers and to resolve the issue. The manager/owner angrily raised her voice and told us that we could leave her establishment without paying! We explained that those weren't our intentions; we only wanted to receive the same service that everyone else in the restaurant was receiving. The manager/owner apologized for her behavior and promised to take care of the issue at the register when we were ready to leave. At this point, our party decided that we didn't want to eat at this establishment anymore and that we would pay for our food and leave. When we walked up to the register, another server was already there. My husband explained the situation to her and asked for her manager/owner since she had promised to rectify the situation at the register. The server refused to get the manger and when my husband asked for the manager again, she accused him of being rude and told him that he would not talk to her that way! I decided to intervene and explain why we were requesting the manager. The server falsely accused my husband of blocking her in which was impossible because I was in front of him. She claimed that she felt "threatened" by my husband and proceeded to call 911! My husband is an African American male who has received multiple awards for his outstanding work in our community and photography and graduated at the top of his class in college! He didn't raise his voice to anyone at this establishment, but they claimed that they felt threatened because he asked for the manager. For 45 minutes, our party had to sit and wait for the police to conduct an "investigation" because we asked for the manager. I am disappointed that this happened and will never forget the fear that I felt because someone felt "threatened" by my husband's skin color! I pray that this establishment retrains their current employees or hires new employees that are capable of treating ALL their customers with respect! read more

We are new to Blue Ridge. I was hoping to find a quaint breakfast nook away from the usual historic downtown traffic or local Waffle House diners. I liked the "Bumble Bee's Cafe" name, so we gave it a try. I was very pleased. First, the clean cute decor gives a relaxed and charming atmosphere, which I really needed today. Service was more than great. We were greeted by our hostess and then quickly with the waitress. The breakfast was fresh and tasty. I had the vegetarian omelette with the cinnamon toast. The waitresses kept our coffee filled. The entire staff was family friendly. I really enjoyed the local feel of a family business making our new little town a good fit for us. We enjoyed our breakfast. We split an omelet that had ham cheese bell peppers and tomatoes and it was tasty. We also had the home fries which were chunks of potatoes with seasonings. Loved this place! We started our vacation and decided that we would eat out before shopping for the weeks supplies. We have a tendency to stay away from chains while on vacation. Service was outstanding! I was touched that our server waited to approach us as we were praying. It's those little things that push it over the top. Wife had the eggs Benedict and myself an omelet. Food was really good. Only reason it's 4 instead of 5 is due to my strictness in scoring. Wife loved her eggs and my omelet was overly stuffed! The hollandaise sause was a bit thick with more of a gravy consistency. The corn beef hash was good but a little bit on the salty side. Service gets a 5 star rating as the food is 3.5. This is a tiny little cafe we wanted to try on our way to the Carolinas. Unfortunately the service was so bad we never had the chance. The waitress was purposely ignoring us waiting to be seated and several tables still needed to be cleaned. We finally had to approach her and ask if we were to take a seat or wait to be seated. She very rudely told us we were supposed to seat ourselves. We left. Don't go to the Bumblebee if you're looking for courteous service. If you don't mind being ignored and waiting for service, you may be ok. We will never know if it would have been worth the hassle or not because we chose to go elsewhere. The restaurant was empty when me and my sisters arrived and we still had to wait for quite some time for service. We were waiting to ask for ketchup for our fries and the waitress that served us never came back to our table after setting our food down. The chicken tenders my sister received were dry and my other sisters hash browns came over salted and her bacon more than crispy with some fuzz on it. After giving up on waiting for ketchup we finished our meal and about ten minutes after we finished another waitress noticed and gave us our bill. We waited at the payment counter for another five minutes with the waitresses ignoring us (there were three other tables when we went to leave) and we finally decided to give up on the wait and leave cash on the table. The service was deplorable and the food questionable. The only saving grace was the cute décor, but I will not be going back, nor recommending it. read more

I'm giving them one star because of how they treated us and the other customer in there. Throwing menus on our table, making rude comments, I even made an attempt to make our server feel better telling her "it's okay, take your time, don't rush" and "smile girl, it's okay" and then she replied "there won't be any smiling today" and cocking an attitude and throwing plates on the table next to us like she was feeding dogs. Visiting a long lost friend in Blue Ridge Georgia, I asked her to take me to her favorite breakfast / brunch place in town. She did not hesitate to let me know BumbleBee's Café was the place. Walking through the front door the greetings were refreshing and we were seated immediately. We both had the Sausage and Cheese Omelet with Home Fries with English Muffins. Fluffy whipped omelets loaded with cheese and meat. The home fries are made to order...These potatoes went from fryer to the plate. Just awesome! Bumblebee's Cafe 5850 Appalachian Highway, Blue Ridge. 706-946-2337 Breakfast and Lunch The Bumblebee's Cafe is located in the Highland Strip Mall which is predominately overshadowed by vacant business offices. There is ample parking in the front however, there is only one entrance and that entrance is northbound off of the Appalachian Hwy. This restaurant is a small informal restaurant with two seating rooms. The rooms are crammed with tables and the rooms are divided by a partial wall. Due to the crammed seating, there is basically no hope for any private conversation. The decor is basically a country kitchen style that is well worn and in need of a face lift. The menu is American country cuisine and somewhat limited with the basic country standbys with nothing particularly standing out. The main sellers are the soups and sandwiches. The cook does add a little flair to these items and most patrons are pleased. The serving plates and presentation are nothing special and seem more in line with function. The cook does provide the plates with a good portion of food. The food is not memorable, however the sandwiches are stacked well and will meet most lunch goers needs. The service is slow and not overly hospitable, The waitress seem overworked, not very interested and in no hurry to serve their patrons. Patrons will find themselves looking over their shoulders, trying to locate a waitress and practicing sign language to flag her down. The restaurant seems to cater to Law Enforcement, EMS and local Service Groups. With this type of clientele, one would hope for more privacy for conversation unless you enjoy hearing exaggerated police stories. The menu is slightly overpriced, but not to such a degree as to deter patrons from returning. No alcohol is served here.. Wish I could put zero stars. I'll start with the service, awful & rude. The waitress took our order & we had to ask her to repeat it back because we could tell she didn't take it down right. Waffle maker was broke, that's fine, but then got upset when dad on Father's Day asked for a pancake instead. We then got our food & dad asked is this a sausage cheese omelette because these are none of the sides I asked for, he wanted home fries & toast. But got fruit & no other sides, not even the pancake.
