Chicken & Dressing, Fried Okra, Mashed Potatoes w/ gravy

If you are looking for a great local place, Mike Ellijay's is the place to go. The young ladies waiting the tables are amazing and super friendly. It truly makes going to Mike's an easy choice every single time whether it is going for breakfast or lunch. The food is always good. You have the option to choose between menu items or items on the board. My favorite go-to for ordering from the board are chicken & dressing, mashed potatoes with brown gravy & okra. The chicken and dressing come with gravy, but I often choose to leave it off as I love their cranberry sauce instead. Seating is very spacious, and I have seen them accommodate larger crowds if needed. I do suggest you get there as early as possible as people definitely love it there due to the consistency of great service and great food, so there are times they get busy. Do not forget to bring cash with you as it is cash only.

Looking for a local's dive in town? This is it! They were able to accommodate our party of 15 right away and the food came speedy! Country fried steak was a popular choice for many in our party. It was really good... the gravy was nice and peppery to compliment the fried steak perfectly. While they were out of trout, the whitefish was a worthy substitute as well as a large portion. Best part? The prices can't be beat!

Breakfast menu. Nothing fancy but all good.

Best place in Ellijay to go for a home cooked type of meal. Fried chicken and all the vegetables are great!

But everything was very salty. I mean....very very salty killing the natural flavors of ingredients. I ordered a grilled fish but it came cold. I paid $36 for it.....very disappointed. However, my daughter's and husband's dishes were hot. We tried to get attention from our waitress but it was so hard. We called her several times but she kept walking away. The dessert was so pretty! Since we were full, we shared one dessert. I wish I could eat more different desserts... It was a little pricey for us. But for a special occasion, it's a good idea to visit this restaurant. But please mention not to use too much salt in meals.

We go here for birthdays, anniversaries, and we have been to a couple of wine dinners. I would like to stay this is five stars because sometimes you get the best thing you have ever eaten. Like the cheddar cornbread in the photos. It was so good. Also there was the time they had the pork chop. OMG. But my review is an average of several meals. Looking through photos here, last time I had a steak that was really good on one end on ok on the other. It's not exactly a crudités but the appetizer we had was good and honestly too big. The pickled vegetables were too sour for me to eat all that. The menu is different every day and you do not know in advance what it will be so good luck! There will usually be a couple things on the menu to satisfy most everyone. The restaurant itself is in what appears to be a remodeled old house. It is cozy but not tight or cramped. If you want to try the wine dinner see if you can get on the mailing list. It is wines paired with multiple courses. I have always enjoyed the food but again it is huge. I was so bloated after the last one because yes I could have stopped eating but the food was too good to not eat it.

Lol So in honor of an old time building I just had to order the Old Time Fashion. A never had before Bacon Old Fashion. Bacon and bourbon just had to be good right? Well it was amazing. Elijah Craig Bourbon, Barrel Smoked Maple Syrup, Rosemary & Orange with a strip of Candied Bacon! The appitizer was a huge table hit. Shrimp and crawfish fritters. Covered in cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese with fire roasted poblano peppers, corn salsa, remoulade and green onions. Holy cow. My main I went with the server recommendation of Lobster Ravioli with scallops and shrimp in a black garlic champagne cream sauce. All of this was finished off with some fresh Parmesan cheese over the top. It pays to listen what is recommended. It was fantastic. Exceptional service throughout the meal with charming interaction made the whole experience fabulous. This is going down as a must try when you visit Blue Ridge GA.

The beets were fresh and the goat cheese carried so much flavor. For the desserts, we got the carrot cake with pecans and chocolate cheesecake. Both were soooo good. I would get both of them again, especially the carrot cake which was so warm and moist. And the candied pecans were such a nice complement to the cake - not too sweet at all. It's been solid since our first visit, but over the past year they tripled the size and elevated the menu so much we think Antebellum now rivals the best cocktail spots in Atlanta!
