I had a lingering issue that my local mechanic (who I generally trust) quickly identified as a bad transfer case. Above 40mph, my car made a rumbling sound. The repair would cost about $2k. I wanted a second opinion so I brought my car out here, 45 mins from my apartment, but close to my parents. After about an hour or so, they gave me their opinions of what's going on. It was *similar* to what my mechanic said, but instead of the transfer case, they showed me a bolt from my differential that was rubbing and shaving metal shavings into the differential oil. There were several other things. They honestly let me know that it probably wouldn't be ready until Monday at the earliest (this was a Friday afternoon), which made since because this wasn't a quick job, and they needed to get some replacement parts on. Additionally they're only open til noon on Saturday, and not Sundays. I called them on Monday to get an update. Joe explained everything thoroughly to me on the phone. Letting me know how they were planning to resolve the various problems. They also changed their mind on 1 problem, and identified an issue that was masked by the rumbling sounds. This was my front left wheel bearing. They replaced my rear diff, serviced my front driveshaft, transfer case, rear driveshaft, full front left wheel bearing replacement. Indeed it took almost a week to complete, but the problem has been fixed and it's been about 2 weeks now. Also, they get the benefit of the doubt because some of the delay was caused by two of their partners giving bad parts. First, the brought a part for the front, not the rear. Second, another supplier brought in a used part that Joe said was not up to par in quality, so they didn't use it. Extremely pleased with the work, and the staffs knowledge and friendliness. I only really worked with Joe, who was a 10/10, I can only imagine the other managers are as well. Nice job!!! read more

Force you to come in for inspection for a quote if any kind, prefer to act like a dealership and try and upsell you in person I guess. Not to mention when they did finally quote they were more than double the other local shops around for brakes. Would not recommend, better going to the dealer at that point. read more

Brought a Ford F150 Raptor to have a tire rotation done & an oil change. Lug nuts were over torqued when they removed them, one was missing and a couple were cracked after they were finished servicing my vehicle. Talked to Tony the manager and also brought the vehicle back for them to look at and they would not do anything for me. They denied that it happened while it was there for service. They claimed that somebody was trying to steal my wheels. Brought it to another shop to have the lug nuts taken off and replaced they said it's 100% that Fox River Tire ruined them when they did the rotation on my wheels by over torquing the lug nuts when they took them off, will never go back there for service. terrible customer service. read more

There is a reason they have a Best in the Fox win, because they really are winners... although they are the humble kind guys that really do care. They go above and beyond. Outstanding customer service, great work, and quick work!!! Last week we went to our North Aurora Gerald's Kia dealer to get a checked engine checked and a/c checked. Sadly they ONLY looked at and fixed the check engine. We were heading out of town, so we had to get everything fixed ASAP. We called Fox River Tire & Auto at 12:30 and they said they could give us a diagnostic that same day!!! We went and they did just that. What's even better is that they fixed it the next day, only because they had to order parts, which is when we were heading out of town!!! This place has exceptional customer service. I had a flat tire that needed to be replaced on a Saturday morning. I had already been to two places that couldn't fix the tire until the end of the day. I walked into Fox River Tire at 11:30, 30 minutes before they closed. They were happy to help me out. Within 30 minutes they had a new tire ordered, delivered, and installed on my car. When I called, i spoke to Kevin who was knowledgeable, expedient, attentive (after i gave my name he used it etc.) and he knew how to speak courteously. I made an appointment for early the next morning to buy the tires he recommended. Upon arrival we quickly realized the employee at the desk WAS NOT KEVIN but we made it through his stumbling inattentiveness, turned over our keys and...... We walked to neighboring Alexander''s Cafe to kill some of the, "hour and a half," we were told installation would take and returned 70 minutes later to wait the rest in their very comfortable waiting room. After some discussion with my husband regarding alignment (which was corrected for an additional $89), we were leaving at pretty much the time we expected to. As we were leaving we spoke to a genial man, who also worked at Fox River Tire, named Merle, who helped my Dad; daughter; nephew select their tires over the years AND met Kevin who gave us some relevant information in his previously-demonstrated manner and added to the feeling that we made the right choice. While I was there they got a call from someone who was afraid about coming in because she is high risk. I fully expected it to be "padded" with labor and other fees. It was not! The same amount was the final bill. How refreshing. And when the tire pressure light came on, I just stopped by and they took care of it, no questions, in 5 minutes. No charge. I am impressed. Kevin's shop is wonderful. I had to get our oil changed and also needed the ac looked at as well as an alignment. I felt no pressure from them about getting a new filter or something like that. They're an honest company and because of their help, I learned our repairs cost more than the car was worth at that point. So they actually helped in making a big decision to trade in our car for a newer and bigger one! I really appreciate all they did for us. They also did an amazing act of kindness a month ago around Mother's day with free oil changes for single moms. I volunteered to help with the event through my church. I'm late in acknowledging the great service I got from the folks at Fox River Tire over the holidays. I want to add to positive reviews and all those who are lookin for tires and service know what a great help they were to me. I'm sure when I went there looking for a spare doughnut tire for my 2007 Honda Odyssey with 180,000 miles they could tell that I had just got a set of new tires and wheels and it wasn't from them. We had gone to Discount Tire as their prices were a bit lower and family members had gone there. Very busy place but new tires and wheels were installed that replaced my run-flats that came with vehicle. We had gotten a price from them about getting a doughnut rim and tire (did not have one because we had run flats) which was around $350. When we picked up van that day they were very busy again and after waiting 10 min asked to get us key so we could go. On getting to vehicle we noticed that black lugs had been used on new nickel wheels. We called when we got home and was told that that is what they used and would be replaced the next morning if we didn't like how they looked!! Job would take 20 min. No appt needed. Next day my husband got there early. Only a few cars being worked on. After over an hour of waiting and watching customer after customer come in for tires and our van still waiting to be taken in my husband complained about wait. He was told that these were emergencies and they would eventually get to us. He asked to get correct lugs to do change himself and was told he would need to purchase new set and get refunded when we returned black ones. We had just spent over $1000 the day before! We swapped out lugs and took others back for refund. We then had to find a wheel for spare which was $$. Almost as much as one tire and wheel. Honda and a couple other tire places said try junk yards. We found one for $50 in very rough shape which should have been a red flag as these tires are stored in an inside compartment but we were PO at prior tire store and wanted to save a few bucks. I had called and spoke with Kevin at Fox Valley Tire who offered to get tire and put it on our rusty wheel. After my husband then the folks at the shop ground off rust a tire was ordered based on wheel size. When it came and was put on the wheel it did not hold air and leaked. Possibly due to all rust. They tried to seal it to tire and that worked. We took it home and when my husband tried to install it it was way too large and could not begin to fit. We had been given the wrong size wheel by the junk yard!! Once again trying to save a buck. We now had a specially ordered tire that did not fit. We sheepishly called Kevin back and explained that it was totally our fault that wrong tire had been ordered and installed. Without a hint of an "I told you so" he said he would see what he could do to get tire exchanged which he was able to do. We ended up paying what we would have from the start but learned several valuable lessons. One is sometimes the big chain stores may have better prices but your on your own once they get your $. Another is that sometimes you should do research and give local, well established business a first look and maybe pay a bit more for great customer service. I know I will and then to acknowledge that experience where others can benefit themselves and they in turn can support our local businesses. Thank you Kevin and crew... In passing I would like to mention an article that appeared in Herald before Xmas about a local man who was driving down Randall Rd with his children when one of them noticed what looked like paper $$ blowing on side of road. The man stopped. He found more $ and a wallet with ID. When the owner was contacted he was of course happy especially when he learned that that of the $500 that had been in only $20 was lost. Kevin, Joe and the rest of the staff at Fox River are the real deal. I had a terribly unfortunate issue with my car on the same afternoon I was taking my father to Delnor Hospital. Kevin worked hard not only to get me a fair price, but to get me back on the road by the next morning. He is a man of his word, and my car repair was completed the very next day before lunch. Then Kevin did something that truly surprised me. He went the extra mile. He personally drove me in his truck back down the street to the hospital so I could pick up my father and arrange a car for later that night. We started using Fox River Tire for auto maintenance (oil changes, etc.) and tires a few years ago because after comparison shopping, they seemed like the best in terms of pricing and customer service. Something has changed in the past year or so. To make a long story short, beware of small added charges. A couple of dollars to top off the windshield washer fluid. When I questioned this, they told me to tell them next time I DON'T want them to do that, to which I responded really? I have to tell you not to do that for an extra charge? It's not up to you to ask me? They said they consider it part of a full service oil change. I said if it was part of a full service oil change there wouldn't be an extra charge! They also noticed the bulb over the license plate was out, and could be heard talking to each other about whether they should ask if we wanted it changed. They didn't ask, but to our surprise DID change the bulb ($2 for the bulb, $6 for the labor). My feeling is if they can't be trusted to be up front about the little stuff I can understand, I certainly can't trust them to be honest about the complicated repairs I don't really understand.
